I recently took my son to Kayla’s Playground in Franklin. Both he and I loved it! It is specially designed for children with special needs. It was a great chance to explain to him about inclusion and acceptance of everyone while having a fun time.

This is more of a biking park than a walking park. I was dog sitting and had a couple weeks off work, so I’ve been exploring as many parks in and around Milwaukee as possible. I found this place on Unilocal,of course, and decided to try it out with the pup. I slapped on my Fitbit and flew out the door. Luckily, I wore boots that day. It had just stopped raining, and several parts of the trail were flooded. Beware. Learn from my mistakes. Eventually, you get to some cute little bridges, and there’s ducks swimming in the water and trees and such, but for the longest time, the dog and I were just walking on a long straight boring path. I think this park is better suited for biking the trail vs walking it. It’s nice though! I’d go back with my bike.

Froemming is a very nice addition to the area. The materials are always taken care of throughout the year. This past year there was an issue with one of the slides that caused it to be unsafe for the little ones. It was repaired within a week. The beer garden came in the summer of 2015, and I can only hope that it continues to come. I traveled to numerous beer gardens in the summer of 2015, and this was one of the most well attended out of all. They should consider putting a permanent one here, or transitioning to the Kayla’s Playground location. The paths, soccer fields, baseball fields, and shelter area are all great additions. The tennis courts are in rough shape, and could use a refinishing. One thing that I add to enhance this area is a splash pad for the kids during the summer.

Pleasantly surprised upon coming here for the first time today, I came with my dog and we went through the trail — starting by the playground. It really does remind you of the country, as it’s great for experiencing quiet time amid the passing bicyclists. Their are a couple bridges that add to the scenic nature, but otherwise very simple trail… I felt at peace and my dog enjoyed our walk as well. It was a good length to walk and you could even bring a book as there are many benches that give you the opportunity to rest while walking. Check it out for yourself!

One of my favorite local parks! There is equipment for big kids and little kids alike. There’s a nice picnic area and adjacent baseball fields, tennis courts and disc golf. My son likes to take ‘adventure walks’(aka: hikes) on the paths. If you keep walking you’ll reach the Milwaukee County Sports Complex. My son calls this Race Car Park because there’s a car game at the top of the big slide. Loads of fun!

One of the nicest parks in the area, and as a dad to a 4-year-old I’ve been to a LOT of parks all over the county. This is one of my favorites. It’s surrounded by quiet and peaceful fields, woods and wetlands. You can bike there because it’s located off the Oak Leaf Trail, which stretches for miles to the north. It reminds you of a hideaway in the country, not just a park. The equipment is new and modern and includes a scavenger hunt that encourages kids to explore the entire playground. Also, make sure to look for the«dinosaur bones» in the wood chip area. My daughter couldn’t get enough of the fast slide and the monkey bars.

Though we only spent an hour or so here while visiting family in WI, we really enjoyed it. From what we saw Froemming Park looked like it really had a lot to offer, nice open fields, a nifty pavilion for bikers/runners to get some shade and relax a little. The playground was a lot of fun for us and the munchkin and the soft rubber ground on it was a nice touch. Kinda alleviates the worry of kids falling and getting all beat up. I think the only thing negative I can say is that some areas on the playground are uneven and could cause some trips and falls… Other than that, it’s quite nice and we’d definitely check it out again if we were back in the area.

I used to have an end of the school year party here each year. It’s got something for everyone– softball/kickball fields, playground with swings, tennis court, sand volleyball… I also live hopping on the Oak Leaf trail here for a bike ride or for rollerblading.

This is an absolutely beautiful park with just about anything you want. If you come into the parking lot from 51st street, you will find plenty parking. From the parking lot, a short trail takes you to a small pavilion with a picnic area on the left and a huge playground on the right. But that’s not all. If you keep on that same trail, you’ll pass a football field and a couple baseball diamonds. Then you come to a fork in the road. If you take a left, you will go right to the Milwaukee County Sports Complex and the start of an awesome 9 hole frisbee golf course. If you take a right, you find my absolute favorite feature of this park– the hiking trail. This isn’t your ordinary hiking trail. It’s like 2 miles long before it even crosses a street. It’s wide enough to handle a lot of traffic, and you will see walkers, runners and bikers all along this trail. The trail is wooded, runs along a stream and goes over a couple beautiful bridges. This park is truly one of the gems of the Milwaukee County Parks system.
