Franklin Marriott Cool Springs

Our checkin was delayed, due to hotel disorganization. The front desk man in a white dress shirt was very short with us (especially with my boss, right in front of me) and was visibly annoyed. At one point, following extended silence, I asked if he needed a confirmation email, and he quipped «Well if you’d let me finish…».
Although I requested one king-​size bed, I was put in a room with two doubles.
Twice during my stay I had no water at all (without warning), and once during my stay I had no hot water. All occurrences lasted several hours.
The service staff at the restaurant acted as if it were their first day on the job. Some insisted we couldn’t charge to our rooms. Bar staff were just completely rude and acted as if they had somewhere better to be.
My group was approached in the lobby at one point, saying we could not congregate there.
Once during my stay I arrived to my room to find two male employees inside.
As someone who worked for Renaissance for three years, this was an appalling departure from the standards Marriott typically holds. There is no way at all I would recommend my company to hold our conferences here in the future, nor would I recommend that our other offices have their employees stay here during travel periods.

Where do I start… booked a king room and checked in to a different room type and was told by the front desk no king rooms were available. I’m a platinum elite Marriott member. There is a concierge lounge, but it’s closed on weekends. The room is newly renovated and clean, with a table but no chairs and no desk. The staff is not helpful nor very friendly. The restaurant menu is very limited. This hotel has a rule of no outside food allowed in the lobby/​common areas but over 200 rooms were booked for a volleyball tournament. The teams who play late need to eat dinner together at the hotel. We were treated very unprofessionally by the very poorly trained security on site. When the front desk agent was brought over to my group he essentially threw the GM’s business card at me and told me I could call the GM then walked away. I would never recommend this property and I only stay at Marriotts.

Update: A representative from corporate saw my review and took the time to discuss my experience. He went over and beyond to make it right. I reported frustrations to save other consumers from a bad experience, not because I expected something in return. Appreciate greatly the kind gesture that was offered and genuine concern for some of this location’s blind spots. All businesses have them and I was assured they are being addressed. I hope they follow through and this hotel becomes a thriving business in it’s area.

.@marriott This place really needs to focus their reno efforts on the rooms, adding insulation between them. Really don’t care to listen to the couple next door getting it on all night. You know who you are…4^th floor on Aug 18 and 19.

I’m puzzled by some of the reviews. Rooms are spacious and clean. Food is good. Less than 3 miles from the Galleria Mall and upscale bars and restaurants. Employees are cheerful and helpful. Very enjoyable stay.

Pros: Room was average. I always prefer to stay at Marriott for their concierge lounge. Convenient to local businesses and Cool Springs mall.
Cons: outdated compared to other options in area. Sprinkler damage took out many rooms. I prefer and requested a king bed, but they had none available upon late night check-​in.

Pretty standard hotel, typical Marriott experience. Staff is nice, rooms are clean, and the conference food is decent.
Swimming pool and fitness center are above average.
Haven’t had any of the negative experiences others reported.
Places to eat within walking distance, and hotel food isn’t horribly overpriced.
Fine for business travelers, tourists may find downtown Nashville or Opryland more interesting.

Here for a conference, paid for by the organizer. Planned an extra day, paid for by me. Confirmed at check-​in. At check-​out, no one knew what I was talking about. No idea who paid for the extra day.
Planned dinner for 18 could not start on time because «we have no wait staff.» 1 hour to get a round of drinks. Another 2 hours for dinner, served COLD.
Conference meals cold.
20 minutes to get coffee in the dining room at breakfast.
No one at the Starbucks counter, had to hunt someone down every day to pay $ 2.00 for a cup of ordinary coffee everyone else has for free.
Corridors and public areas cold (about 65)
Marriott used to be really good, but with the entry of competition like Hyatt, Embassy Suites and Ritz Carlton they seemed to decide to compete with Motel 6.

I booked this place thinking it was an actual Marriott. I was definitely wrong. When I came in there was only one person working there at the desk at 7pm. Lucky I was able to snag the one cart to carry my stuff up. I am allergic to feathers and asked them to swap out the pillows and comforter to cotton/​foam ones for me. They never got to it so I ended up having to sleep with just the sheets. In the morning when I went to shower the shower made an awful buzzing noise while running. If you’re in the area save your money and stay somewhere else!

Where do I start — reserved a king room — when we checked in around 4:30 — no king. The guy at the front desk was pleasant and told us he was giving us his favorite room but it was a double.
I excepted a suite or something special — it was just a plain double. The room was warm and stuffy. It was fairly clean if you ignore the mold in the shower and the old urine smell in the bathroom.
The HVAC was operated by motion I guess because it turned off when we left for dinner and turned off and on all night giving us a temperature swing of about 7 degrees. I would wake sweating kick off the covers and soon was freezing again.
Got Starbucks in the morning for Dyann and I — could not find free coffee as is the situation at most hotel lobbies.
I asked for a 1:00 pm check out and the desk said ok — we went back to our room at 12:00 noon and the housekeeper had already cleaned it up.
I use to stay at Marriott hotels a lot and was in there highest rewards category. I had forgotten why I was now a top rewards category at Hilton. I remember now.

Hotel needs to upgrade rooms badly. Morning concierge is very friendly with great service.

I have been staying at this hotel for the last few months (mid Dec 12 — mid Mar 13), and probably every time I need to come back here for work. I love this hotel and their friendly staff. I love their Concierge Lounge and the attending staff. Although I never get upgraded for being a regular customer or a platinum member I keep coming back for more.

Let’s start out with the positive things we encountered:
–Newer hotel, very clean
–Excellent gym
–Great staff
There were several things that were not up to Marriott standards:
–Very slow Internet
–Fruit in Concierge Lounge we nasty
–Very uncomfortable beds. I woke up in the middle of the night we a very bad backache
This is a nice hotel, but next time we need a Cool Springs hotel we will stay at another property.

I didn’t find anything too special about this hotel after visiting here in October 2012 for Geek Media Expo… the only positive thing about this place is their staff, and how comfortable the beds were.
The restaurant in the hotel is way too expensive. I wish they had some kind of specials that catered to GMX attendees’ wallets during that weekend, but everything was too overpriced.
Some of our requests seemed to be completely ignored as well, such as wanting two rooms next to each other.
i hope that the hotel is better next November when we visit again for GMX.

I can’t believe I forgot to review this hotel after GMX in October. Better late than never.
I can’t really rave about this hotel as they really did not do anything to go above and beyond, thus warranting a rating higher than 3. While the beds were comfort able, maintaining a comfortable temperature in the room was a pain.
Also, getting a filling bite to eat was next to impossible. When will hotels learn to price their food competitively with comparable area restaurants?! And even then their menus were not very descriptive, making avoiding food allergies difficult.
Another thing, a friend of mine made the reservations and we asked for two rooms next to each other, preferably joined inside. But no, they completely ignored the request. Ugh! I’d hate to be a family wanting to reserve multiple rooms for a large family.
And finally, while the internet was free, it was only because the convention saw to it. If you are getting a room, they should give all guests a general login for that room for free internet use… period. Do not key it to the person making the reservation.

A new hotel, with excellent front desk and Concierge/​Club room service. I was upgraded to the Concierge level, and their breakfast buffet was outstanding. The evening appetizers were varied and well presented.
The hotel provides free shuttle service to area restaurants, so you can drink to your heart’s content, and not have to drive!
I will look forward to returning when next in the area.

Do not have a conference here! The food is so awful. I did not stay at the hotel but during our lunch they continuously served fish (which most people did not eat) and ran out of the overcooked chicken. The folks who re-​stock the food seemed frantic and were constantly in the way during our breaks. There was an obvious lack of organization and kitchen skills. I would expect much better than this for a Marriott/​Conference Center servicing over 100 people for 3 days.

Hotel cancelled my reservation and did not tell me until I tried to check in. I found it odd they sent me an email asking if I planned to check-​in tonight. Even as a Rewards member they still «walked» me to another hotel.

Not up to par with a typical Marriott. The rooms are so-​so quality; would be fine for a cheaper hotel brand but I expect more from a Marriot.
Had the buffet dinner at the hotel when I visited. The salad bar was very good. Small selection, but most everything was fresh. The main course was essentially Wings, nachos and pizza. Unfortunately, I couldn’t eat any of it as everything was really greasy.

When we visit Karen’s sister in the Nashville area, we stay at the Franklin Mariott/​Cool Springs. Our first experience had the potential to go wrong quickly, but instead turned out great!
A regional high school baseball tournament was going on nearby and the teams were staying here, so the lobby was awash in high school boys. Without us asking, the delightful clerk (from Kansas City and had worked at a Marriott I had stayed in there!) upgraded us and put us on one of the keycard-​only floors and away from the bustle and noise.
The theater is less than 5 minutes from a large movie multiplex and several (admittedly chain) restaurants and two minutes from a Starbucks, so there are some creature comforts nearby.
This is my home away from home when I travel to the center of Tennessee. Karen and I give it a thumb’s up.
