I drove a hour just to try the crawfish and was very disappointed. The crawfish was awful. You could tell they weren’t fresh and tasted look they were old. Everything else that we had was good. I will not be making that hour drive again.

I have been there twice this week. It is amazing food and service for an amazing price. I like to get the Cajun Trio with the crawfish étouffée, jambalaya and grits.

Me thinks super NOT!!! I was dying for some shrimp and grits for weeks, but what I got in return was soupy broth, a tiny bit of grits and shrimp with no flavor. Basically it was flavorless shrimp soup. And it was $ 15.00 for that drivel. Please, if you’re looking for some realllly good, flavorful Cajun food, go down the road a few miles to Papa Boudreaux’s. Much better

I’m a cajun and was disappointed with the food. It wasn’t bad, just not authentic recipes. The boiled crawfish were very good. None of the employees are cajun so it lost authenticity there also. Atmosphere was wonderful. Loved the pictures laminated on table tops. Probably won’t return.

My wife and I love this place! It’s great for authentic cajun food and crawfish! They have a great representation of Abita beer too. The food is priced well and oysters are based on market prices. I love the crawfish– sometimes they have all you can eat for $ 30. It’s not too big of a place, but they have a small upstairs seating area to maximize seating. Great happy hour and drink specials every day.

This place was just what the review says for 3 stars… OK. Service was adequate but did not feel it was sincere. I have been in the industry for over 30 years by the way. The food was good but portioning was absolute crap. We got the big platter of crawfish since I am an LSU graduate. We got all of 1 small piece of corn and 2 small potatoes with it. You have got to be kidding me ! We ordered extra corn and potatoes and received the same thing and the server told me be careful because it had just been cooked and was very hot; my potato was cold inside. Just so so all the way around; will not be back. WHYSHOULD I?

I’m giving this place three stars because I know they have a lot of things on the menu that were better than what we had. The menu is extensive so I will have to return. The gumbo ya ya was excellent. My shrimp creole was not anything special. All the best Creoles I’ve had were a much thicker mixture of celery, tomato, okra, spices and some heat. This creole was very thin liquid mixture of mostly tomato and not spicy at all. The wife had fried oyster po boy with way too few oysters and topping for the size /thickness of the bread. You could have scooted everything to one side and it been a good half poboy.

I’ve been to the Steamer a few times, I would say at least 8 – 10. The Po Boy’s are very good, lots and lots of shrimp and lots of fries. Those I am a fan of. The Jambalaya and Gumbo however are very meh. Very limited flavor, like none. I would recommend the Po Boy if you go here.

good food since last time we went(3 years ago). The portion is very small and if you eat a lot like me you may want extra food.

The food was very good and the staff was excellent! I had a blackened fish that was yummy. I hardly write something like this, but the entire staff isn’t bad too look at either. The jambalaya was also good.

I am just saying, this place is fantastic! I would eat hear every night if I could. The prices are fair, the atmosphere makes you feel like you are south, but yet you are still in an office park. Too bad they don’t have one near where I live!

This place is going downhill. Has gone from one of my favorite places to one I probably won’t visit again. My go-to shrimp and grits were greasy, too much liquid and old tasting shrimp. The wait staff seems to half care if you’re there or not. Have had two bad experiences in a row and hearing the same thing from other people. Now I need another good cajun seafood alternative in middle TN :(

NOT the place to come for some Fat Tuesday Mardi Gras fun… My 7 year old was disappointed in the snow day that was called on Fat Tuesday, as she was very excited for the Mardi Gras celebrations planned at school. Instead she dressed in her fanciest purple, green and gold Mardi Gras outfit, and over the top matching bow, and we watched some of the parades live from New Orleans while I tossed her beads from my adventures at Mardi Gras in NOLA. I told her I would take her for a great lunch at Cajun Steamer where I was sure she would get some beads(they give her beads even when it ISN’T Fat Tuesday!) and they would have some lively music. We went a little after 3:00 so we didn’t hit lunch rush, and were too early for the after work crowd, but still expected it to be pretty packed. When we walked in, it was pretty quiet. 5 or 6 men at the front table, about 8 at the bar, and 2 couples… pretty dead in there even for a normal afternoon. We waited at the host stand for a few minutes, where the men at the front table made a big deal about my daughter being all decked out and ready for Mardi Gras. One of them even said«She’s so cute, she’s going to be loaded down with beads before she leaves here!» which made her smile excitedly. Finally, a guy came over and told us to sit anywhere and he would get us menus. I believe there were 3 servers on the floor from their festive attire. It took awhile to have our server greet us and bring menus. Very generic, «what can I get you to drink» greeting. She asked for our order as she was setting down the drinks, and I asked for just a moment more. It was several minutes later that she came back and took our appetizer order and entrée orders at the same time… which made the appetizer and entrees come out about 3 minutes apart. Food was good as it always is, and we didn’t need much, which was good because she didn’t come back until we were finished and needed boxes. Everything was just very lack luster and very Applebee’s on an average day vibe. When you are a cajun theme establishment, today was your day to knock it out of the park and walk out with $ 300 in tips because of your enthusiasm and spirit for the big day(I spent years tending bar and serving during football games, etc downtown and knew that a little team spirit was the difference between a flat 15−20% tip and a 50% tip). No excitement, no beads and a disappointed little one looking for some tame Mardi Gras excitement… Next year we will go to the one in downtown Franklin on the square, where I hear things were packed and rocking from the minute they opened the doors. Side note… the table of guys at the front did have the full attention of 2 of the servers for most of our visit. Guess they knew their audience…

First time at this cute restaurant and I would def return again when in town. The seafood options were creative and fresh. The prices were right and the staff friendly. I had the seafood medley, crab chowder and a strawberry daiquiri. Would def recommend it to anyone looking for a New Orleans style experience! :-)

Came here on a whim and didn’t leave disappointed. I broke a rule and ordered chicken at a seafood restaurant but I’m glad I did. I enjoyed my food a lot more than my fiancé did(he had steamed crab legs platter, which lacked flavor all around). The place wasn’t crowded but there were enough people in there to enjoy the game with(great place to watch). Our waitress was attentive but not overbearing. Don’t come in expecting Louisiana flavor but you will get a decent meal… if you order the chicken. :)

The live music really warmed my heart, which was great because the food, while my experience was fine and food okay… this place just didn’t win my heart. The Flounder Seafood Roulade was overly salted, even for a Cajun lemon-butter sauce dish, but the portions were huge and(once enough salt was removed and exposed the seafood core) was pretty filling and fulfilling. The Tilapia & Shrimp Rockefeller was a huge dish and was tasty, so I would honestly recommend that – and their Gumbo Ya Ya was overpowering on the smokiness… I couldn’t really taste anything else from it.

Please save your money, and find another place. Really. (If you’re college age, then the young female servers will be nice for you, but the food will not be… not worth the money, not even at ½-off)

Came for business and wanted to try this place out. I was excited for the shrimp and grits but was disappointed. It was nothing but oil. The stuffed mushrooms were mushy and the sauce wasn’t my favorite. It could be bc I took it out to go but I’m not a fan.

Very good food and service. We had the fire shrimp appetizer. For dinner we had the grilled oysters and the oysters Rockefeller. Both were great but I think the grilled oysters were the better of the two. We would definitely come back

Cliff and I came here for a birthday dinner and in preparation for the momentous LSU vs Alabama game of the year. We arrived around 6:00 from our hotel just less than 500 feet away. We walked in and got welcomed, as we should, and asked to sit at the bar. Now, let me preface by saying Cliff is from Baton Rouge so not only does he know Cajun food, but he calls me mon cher from time to time so we had high hopes. We started off with an Abita and Blue Moon and two appetizers. We shared the fire shrimp and blue crab claws. Both were perfect for our appetites. Blue claws were seasoned in cajun spices and in butter sauce. We waited a little longer and started figuring out what to order. Cliff only negative was that there was no seafood platter for one, only two. He ordered the peel and eat shrimp and I got a plethora of sides which included house salad, crawfish étouffée, curly fries and red beans. It as all great! Only thing I have to say that I didn’t like was that the game wasn’t that big of a deal, I guess. It was kind of empty but we had a great time. All in all it was about $ 100, kind of expensive but it was a hit with the Cajun. So I’m happy.
