Ann Carroll School of Dance

My daughter has been going here for two years and loves it. Miss Jeannie is so sweet and great with the girls. They offer many different types of dance class for all different ages.
My only negative is I wish their main location was in a different area. They are located down an industrial Road in an older building.

We recently signed our daughter up for classes here and they have been wonderful. The teacher is super sweet and the facility is very nice. Their online sign up was also very simple and user friendly. Priced well too.

SWEET TEACHERS, VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE
The purpose of Unilocal is to aid readers to find the best information for businesses, restaurants, etc they are searching for. I know some use this medium to rant about randomness that establishments cannot control (like saying a venue is horrible because it rained while they were there, or saying a $.99 burger sucks because it is not made with Kobe beef and rare, imported mushrooms). So, I feel that I should be as honest as possible about the INTENT of the places I review, not my private EXPECTATIONS that business owners have no chance of knowing or catering to. In addition, I usually only review places that provide me with excellent service, and thus I want to provide them with an excellent review. I say all that to preface the fact this is not a favorable review, but I so wanted it to be. I live in this community, and I want to encourage people to partake in local businesses and eateries whenever possible.
Whenever my wife and I asked around as to where our daughter should attend dance classes the answer almost inevitably came back to Ann Carroll School of Dance. We realized that this is because the school has been in the area for a long time, and there aren’t many other options for dance. My wife, who danced her whole life as a girl but also on the college/​semi-​pro level, gave Ann Carroll SOD her seal of approval with their instruction. What we have come to realize after our daughter has attended for almost two years is this: While their education is sound, their customer service has much to improve on.
Luckily, our daughter only experiences the joy of dance while she is there, but once she is in her class, my wife and I have run in to many scenarios where the front desk staff/​customer service individuals (aka the first impressions of the company) have been snooty, rude and just plain mean. So rude in fact that it has really tainted our view of the company. We are now willing to drive out of the immediate area to give our daughter the instruction and love of dance that she and we want.
My wife and I hoped these were isolated incidents, but upon chatting with many other parents and former students, this is actually how the school operates.
What Ann Carroll fails to do is to give families an invitation to feel that their involvement at the studio is appreciated. In fact, the attitude has been one that seems to imply that we should feel lucky that our daughter is allowed to be graced with their teaching.
When a question is asked of Ann Carroll, there is an air of annoyance and bordering on arrogance. As if to say, «How could you, mere parent, question us?»
My wife’s, thus mine, expectations for a good dance studio are simple:
— Provide quality dance instruction at an appropriate age level
— Instill a love of dance in the children
— Engage parents in a professional manner
The last one is an epic fail. Professionalism in a dance studio is not bossing parents, denying issues, and failure to be flexible.
My interpretation is that Ann Carroll provides great instruction. And if you are willing to subject yourself and your child (ren) to rude, superior-​minded, unhelpful staff, then by all means forge ahead. Just do so with full knowledge.
