I committed the cardinal sin of having your nails done – trying somewhere new when you’re happy with where you’ve been going. But, whatever, you’re getting a sweet review out of my experience. After a quick drive by, it looked legit enough for a quick Saturday pedicure. It was

am and there was only one other person in the salon. My usual salon is booked with bridal parties and other people getting their weekend nails done, so this was
(
a) a surprise
(
b) concerning © and kind of a relief.
This place is a no frills type of joint with light blue walls, strangely placed wall art, a giant framed poster with prices at the check in desk
(
kind of nice), and a monstrous fish tank in the back. The nail tech stations are dated.
The pedicure chairs would fit right into a disco/lounge from the
70
’s. Very red with a light up foot bath the offers a plethora of changing colors. It was like a mini Studio

was occurring by my feet. The water was lukewarm and the jets were weak. The chair had an intermittent massager that would occasionally stab my in the rear and in the neck. The nail tech was far too distracted with his iPhone and took frequent breaks from doing my nails to answer text messages and calls. Also, I think he cut the edges of my toe nails a wee bit too short as they’ve been hurting all day.
Finally, whatever he used to smooth and scrape my feet looked exactly like my cheese grater at home. Ladies – is this normal nowadays? Now I know what if feels like to be a hunk of Parmesan. I have a new found respect for hard cheeses. I saw the brand: «Microplane.» Yes, Microplane does make personal care products, but this thing looked like an artisan kitchen utensil. Sweet Jesus, it was sharp too!
The tech did a nice job doing a little hot stone massage on my legs and feet at the end, but that all went out the window when he tossed a hot
(
a
VERY
HOT
) towel on each leg. I guess I’m just not into that. Yowzah!
End result: nice looking pedicure, slightly mangled and callused heels, and sore toes. The staff was nice enough. A pedicure was $
25
. By the time I left, there were a lot more clients filling up the place for fills and full sets. I can’t vouch for them, but they all seemed very pleased. Maybe I picked the wrong service.
