Specialties
Ballet 5:8 School of the Arts is a nonprofit dance education center affiliated with Ballet 5:8, a professional ballet company. It it our joy to serve the greater Chicago area through accessible, high-quality dance training in an uplifting environment shaped by our Christian faith.
History
Established in 2012.
The nonprofit organization Ballet 5:8 came into being in 2012, founded by Artistic Director Julianna Slager and Executive Director Amy Kozol Sanderson. Before Ballet 5:8, our school had its roots in a small Christian dance studio, founded by Julie Kapenga, that began holding classes in a church Sunday school room in 2006.
Today, Ballet 5:8 School of the Arts has a unique character among dance schools, combining a passion for excellence in the arts with a commitment to encouraging and fostering the development of students spiritually, not just technically and artistically. Though the school’s classes and instructors hold students to a high standard in their dance training, students are able to grow and mature in a safe, supportive, family-like environment.
