The Reptile Zoo

So much fun! The enormity of this place was unexpected. They have a wonderful front area to mosey around if you don’t want to pay the extra to see the additional reptiles in the back behind the fenced area — which I would highly recommend.
Huge variety of reptiles, helpful staff are available to answer all of your questions along with the handling of the reptiles. Definitely considering this place for a future birthday party event for my son. Love the Décor and the mounted dinosaur heads on the walls– nice touch.

My son loves this place very educational and very friendly staff! Make sure and feed the turtles!

I now have to add to the reviews of this place that say it had gone totally down hill. My grandnephews have been coming here since the oldest was two. They have always enjoyed themselves and have been given multiple species of reptiles to hold. Today, we came in and after one of the snakes tried to bite the man holding it, they handed it to my nine and five year olds to handle. Of course I said no! They said he was fine and that no other animals were available to hold. Totally shocked and annoyed at such uncaring, unprofessional behavior. We will not be back!

Always a fun adventure for the kids. So many different reptiles. Very cool place. They can pet a snake, a gecko. We had a great experience with Amy today, very patient with the kids. She showed them the little animals and gave some information on them. Everyone there is very knowledgeable about reptiles. Super clean, hand sanitizer a everywhere and sink to wash hands. You would assume a place full of reptiles would be kinda stinky but it’s not. They do a good place keeping it neat. And they also sell little souvenirs, pets and supplies. We’ve been there like 5 times and it never gets old.

This place is place is pretty crazy when it comes to reptiles. They have quite a selection… not so clean though. Couldn’t believe they had three alligators. Esp in the fountain valley area… must check out.

It’s worth the $ 5 to get in if you think about the money going to feed the animals.
–Upon first glance I was surprised to see a «zoo» that looked like a regular pet store in a regular shopping center. Great parking and a little store area you can walk around in and pay to feed red eared sliders or tortoises if you choose. The «zoo» portion had some cool animals. It was neat to see the American alligators up close. Some of the other animals seemed a little cramped in small enclosures (but I’m no expert). My eight year old daughter LOVED that she got to hold some of the reptiles (snake, gecko, bearded dragon). That was cool. If you want a picture with the big (ish) Burmese Python be patient. It’s not posted anywhere near the photo area that you have to go back up to the front to purchase a photo op. I went to the front desk and there weren’t any prices posted there either. I had to ask. Anyway, $ 8 for them to use your camera or $ 12 for them to use theirs and give you a printout. Great, paid the $ 12 and went back to wait. And wait. And wait. Watching the process of people going through their pictures on the zoos iPad then watching the workers fumble through empty paper slots and empty ink cartridges was not entertaining. One guy who was covering a lunch break took several pictures of families with the snake and even took them to another backdrop area. That was nice, even though it prolonged our wait. One more family ahead of us and 30 minutes later (I’m serious) and it was finally out turn. The «regular» guy was back from lunch and brought us behind the counter, gave the canned spiel about the snake, took one picture and asked us if it was ok. Uhhhh, actually it’s fine because I’m completely bored by now and ready to leave. The picture was fine and he took some pictures (with my phone) of us while we waited for the printer that was finally working like it was supposed to.
Bottom line, entertaining for little kids that like reptiles but don’t expect too much more than a pet store.

Yes, there is an odor when you first walk in, but its a reptile zoo so its to be expected. You dont notice it anymore once you’re in there 10 min.
It is my third time coming here and every time I enjoy it. The first time I came here was about 3 yrs ago and the staff is just as nice as when i went the first time.
I recommend to get the GROUPON it is totally worth it! We got admissions for 4 and 4 pictures with a Burmese Python for $ 33.
If the Groupon is not available You should still go they have many knowledgeable employees that can answer almost any questions. I am in awe of all the different types of reptiles they have. You can still pet 3 reptiles with your admission.

This is a miniature Jurassic Park within the city of Fountain Valley. This place is educational and makes you appreciate the misunderstood world of reptiles. The ambiance is awesome and felt like a kid seeing these beautiful creature in captivity. They have a huge collection of reptiles from turtles, bearded dragons, and giant pythons. They have few arachnids on showcase such as tarantulas and scorpions. Some of these reptiles in here are rescued as well.
They sell reptiles and merchandise in front of the establishment like a pet store. And you can actually have a party in it! My girlfriend and I are impressed in this place. And I like this place that I decided to get a Sulcata Tortoise in the future cause they are so cute. You can plan a party for kids here, too as well. Overall, I would go here again with my girlfriend cause we are kids at heart :)

This review is a few months overdue. I was here back in January with my husband. I will warn you the place does have an odd smell from all the animals but…
The people here were so nice and informative. I came here to overcome by fear of snakes and they helped me do just that. I was able to hold a baby Boa and then they brought out Betty, the large python. There was no pressure they explained her to me and put her around me. Even after we had our picture taken, the girl let me continue to hold the baby boa while Betty slithered around next to me out of cage and I was able to pet her and get use to her more.
I really enjoyed my experience and I am excited to go back next month. I am hoping I will get to hold the Albino Burmese Python this time for a picture, but whichever snake it is I will be excited.
It is definitely worth the money to go here, especially if you are curious about snakes and want to learn more about them in a controlled environment.

Great place to take the kids! 3 and under are free and everyone else is only $ 5! Tons of reptiles to see. My boys loved it!

If you like reptiles and want to get a close-​up view of some very rare and interesting creatures, definitely spend an afternoon in here!
If you don’t like reptiles, then try feeding the tortoises or holding one of the geckos, and you will be hooked!
I came here on New Year’s Day expecting a small little animal pet shop with some small species available to look at through a glass! Not only were there large AND small reptiles to look at, you could even hold some of them!
My favorite part was getting up close to the glass and watching the reptiles stare at me like I was the weird one. I was not brave enough to hold the Ball Python because they’re much bigger than the cornsnakes and the milksnakes that I’m used to.
Some of the exhibits took up the whole back side of the building! I got to see Frank, the Asian Water Monitor from the Disney Channel TV show «Jessie», some alligators, a couple 300 lb. pythons wrapped around some enclosed tree branches and so much more!
I can’t wait to come back and feed the tortoises when they’re hungry!
$ 5 entrance fee, $ 3 feeding baggie for the turtles or tortoises! Don’t forget to bring a camera! You’ll run into something around every corner that will make your jaw drop.

Wow I didn’t even know this amazing place existed! My friend had her son’s birthday here and although the party room was sooo small, the place is pretty awesome. It was full of reptiles. aquariums and aquariums full of snakes (big and small), lizards, turtles. and even a couple of alligators!!! The party came with a presentation and the über friendly guy brought out a ton of stuff for the kids to touch. At the end he brought out a boa constrictor and had people sit down and he laid out the snake on top of them. What a photo op!!! Although hot and stinky in there haha it was a ton of fun and Great for the kids! What a hidden gem!!!

This place is a Gem! Couldn’t believe how many different reptiles they have inside there store.
Its a litigate Zoo! For $ 5.00 entrance its totally worth it. I never been that close to an Alligator before. And for all the different type of snakes and lizards there have, I don’t know where else you will be able to see so many different species all that up-​close. Definitely highly recommend.
Also all the employees look like they really do care for the Animals. You could see there pretty passionate about there jobs.

This is a great place for kids to see reptiles and snakes. They have tortoises and turtles you can pay to feed up front. To rile up all the reptiles in the zoo portion take the worms and lettuce in with you (oops on our part). The lady we asked questions and talked to was awesome. She was very friendly wish I would have gotten her name. The rest of the staff, not so much. For a reasonable cost you can take your photo with a snake that is very gentle. My kids were able to pet a beardie and tarantula also. A place where we will go again. Oh and the gator will follow you around in his cage.

So. You like reptiles? Visit this place. This place is ¹⁄₃ reptile pet store (also known as prehistoric pets), and ²⁄₃ Zoo. Upon entering the store portion, you can pay $ 3 for a container of mealworms to feed to the turtles and fish, and you can pay $ 3 for a bag of veggies to feed the tortoises. Not sure when I’d be back, I decided to go for broke and I paid $ 11 and change. This got me entry into the zoo, and one of each feeding. Along with the food, you get accoutrements to serve the food with, so there’s no risk of biting, and you don’t have to actually touch the icky mealworms or vegetables. (Which are also kinda icky.)
I began by feeding the bale of turtles. Several enthusiastic and hungry turtles swam in the water pool, following the people with the containers of wriggling mealworms. What seemed like a mound of a hundred or so turtles sat in a big pile on the ‘land’ area of the enclosure beneath the heat lamp, and oh my god look at the size of that fish in the water. Yes, there are gargantuan fish swimming in the pool as well. When a turtle misses a mealworm, the fishes rise from the darker depths to snatch up the missed food. I did my best to feed as many turtles and fish as I could. (A group of Turtles = A Bale)
Next I opened up my bag of vegetables to feed to the tortoises. The vegetables were actually fresh and good looking. Nothing rotten or passed it’s prime. The tongs they gave me were pretty terrible, they would get stuck open, and also get stuck shut. After fumbling for a little while, manually opening and closing them, I ended up just tossing the food to the tortoises. They did their best to scurry over towards the vegetable and eat it before the rest of the creep noticed. (A group of Tortoises = a Creep.)
After a half hour, we decided to go into the zoo part. They have a large collection of animals of several species. Snakes, iguanas, chameleons, geckos, and even some larger alligators and turtles. They also have a celebrity lizard at the Zoo. Mrs. Kipling, the lizard from the disney show Jessie. Well, Mrs. Kipling is actually a male asian water monitor lizard named Frank. After wandering around and taking a bunch of photos, we decided we had seen it all.
Until there was a guy handing out snakes and lizards to hold. The guy offered to hand me the snake, and I pet the snake. When the guy broke out the lil gecko, I held the lil gecko. The gecko actually peed on the kid he was being held by right before me. So I decided it’d be pretty safe to hold the lil guy. In the holding area, the guy answered every question tossed his way. Super nice kid, and also very knowledgeable about the reptiles. He had solid answers for every question.
After taking all the photos of ourselves holding the cute lil gecko, we decided it was time to get back into the car and begin our trek home. It was a fun adventure, and it will most definitely be repeated again. Well done Reptile Zoo, well done indeed.

My trip to reptile zoo was one of the greatest with reptiles. The crew were very knowledegable, friendly and welcoming. The repitles were well maintained and the area was very clean. In addition, the crew took a great care of the reptiles and knew how to handle them properly without stressing them out. I will surely be back again. Oh and the giant python (she doesn’t have a name yet), was amazing. She was scared a bit when they first got her out (I WASN’T SCARED A BIT!!), but soon she was calm and adapted to the environment. If you have kids and you are still debating on taking them to the reptile zoo I definitely encourge you to do so. It will be an outstanding experience for you and your kids and both of you will get to learn and experience something new.

So my husband and I decided that we would take a mini road trip away and ended up at this store before headed back home after a long day.
Pros:
*A lot of animals to see.
*Can pay a small fee ($ 3.00 around there) and be able to feed the turtles (omg around 200 of them) or the tortoises which are on opposite sides of the entrance. They had about maybe 10 or more tortoises. That was really fun.
*$ 5 entrance fee, cheap.
*Can touch some animals if you ask.
*Can take pictures with a snake or lizard. $ 8 with your phone. $ 12 with their camera.
*Very friendly workers.
*Has a collection of insects such as spiders, butterflies and moths. Pretty weird but interesting.
Cons:
*Pretty small place.
*Some animals were kinda cramped in their rooms. They didn’t have water either. Cages looked a little dry.
*Smells a bit old.
My favorite part: if you walk through out the store, look for the green vines up on top near the ceiling. There’s chameleons that are hidden and it’s your job to find them :) I think there is 8 up there. I only found 6 but it was so cute and fun!
Overall:
I would go again just because it’s $ 3 to feed some animals while at the Zoo, I can’t even see them without a glass container surrounding them. I know these guys love their animals cause I see how passionate about their stores. Though there is some things that they can change but everything takes time! I recommend for anyone who have kids or just really enjoy animals to go.

I came here a few weekends ago with my two boys (ages 6 and 5) because I bought the groupon deal. The kiddos thought it was pretty fun. They had a lot of different reptiles that the boys thought were cool. It’s bigger than I thought it would be from what I saw outside. They got to take a picture with a python named marshmallow. The guy that was in the back, I didn’t get his name, had a lot of information to share and really knew his stuff. For me, it was good for a one time stop. I wouldn’t see myself coming back again anytime soon but it’s definitely worth checking out for anyone with younger kids!

I think I expected a little more out of this place and didnt realize quite how small it actually is inside.
PARKING: It’s located in the most random strip mall. I almost missed it until I saw the large lettering with yellow background saying JURASSIC PARTIES etc.
ADMISSION: It’s $ 5 for entrance and then I think you have to pay extra to feed the turtles.
EXHIBITS: When you first walk in it’s like you’re in a real rainforest café. It definitely smells like a zoo. There is a huge pond/​pool with turtles and fish swimming then on the side there’s another section for turtles that are on the land. You can walk around and see the snakes they have for sale and the different stuff in the shop. When you enter into the actual «zoo» you see rows of windows and different reptiles like snakes, lizards, monitors, chameleons etc. Some are in water, some are just in regular habitats. They have two big containers, one with a huge snake and then some with alligators. In the middle they have a section where you can hold the snakes and other reptiles and then theres a room where they have birthday parties.
The entire thing took us like 40 minutes and that was going through it pretty slowly.
Overall, I could see why kids would love this place but I don’t think I’d be back again.
