This is the best gym I have ever been to. I took boxing lessons about ten years ago and have been missing it ever since. Mack, Les and Bobby are great coaches/trainers and are open to teaching you as much about the sport as you want to learn. They train professional boxers to business people like me and will cater to your fitness needs. Besides teaching you the«sweet science» they also incorporate weights, cardio and plyometrics into your routine, so you will become very fit. In a month and a half I have lost 10 lbs and 2 inches off of my waist. Best of all it has been a lot of fun and I am faster, stronger and more coordinated than I have been in decades.

Miyagi boxing? But I thought Mr. Miyagi taught karate? Ahhh, not so fast Daniel-san. Mack, who really does resemble Pat Morita(Mr. Miyagi of Karate Kid fame) is one of the owners of Miyagi boxing-hence the name. He’s also a legit boxing trainer having trained several world champions. I’ve been going to Miyagi Boxing Gym since they opened in May. The owners, Mack, Les, Bobby and Vince are all very helpful and easy to talk too. No high pressure sale tactics or long term contracts to sign. They’ll even let you try out the classes several times for free to see if you like it so you have nothing to lose. They currently have cardio boxing classes Mon, Weds. and Fri. and kick boxing classes Tues and Thurs. They have open gym times throughout the day as well if you just want to come in and release some stress. My review will be mainly on the cardio boxing classes taught by Bobby since those are the classes I attend the most. Let me start off by saying that I’m a boxing newbie. Never hit a punching bag in my life! But after the 1st few classes I was addicted. Bobby keeps the classes fresh and no 2 workouts are ever the same. He’s always changing it up so you don’t get bored doing the same routines over and over. The music they play is energizing and he’ll even take requests. Gotta love 80’s Mondays! Workouts are catered to every level too. You basically get out of it what you put in. So don’t feel like you have to be like Pacquiao to take a boxing class. But having said that, the workouts WILL kick you butt! Burpies, mountain climbers, squats… ohhh, you will definitely feel the burn! People in the classes are super friendly and you’ll feel welcome on your very 1st workout. The gym is always clean and the only gripe I would have is that they don’t have showers.
