Came in to try the vanilla cake with pudding and strawberries. All the cakes were were sold out except chocolate and I came in afternoon. so I got the pineapple bun… heard it is popular in China. it was 1.25 and it was soft and delicious and buttery… there was not much pineapple taste… but I will get that next time. and the cake too… clean small bakery… it is next to Winchell’s…

My first time ever in an Asian bakery and it was delicious I would definitely go back. I happened upon it because I was at the lab next door and I’m so glad I went in. I decided to try the marble taro bun and it was delicious. I can’t wait to go back and try something else.

Bread tastes ok. The nice thing about them is variety. If you are tired of the same breads that 85C sells, this may be a good alternative and it’s probably the only Taiwanese bakery in the area other than 85C. Price seems to be slightly higher than 85C but still not bad.

WHAT A GEM! Can’t believe I’ve lived in HB this long and never stopped here. Picked up a birthday cake and after reading a few reviews, I opted for the vanilla strawberries and pudding cake. I must also admit the presentation is amazing and must mention the owner packages the cake so beautifully in an awesome decorative carry box. Feedback: Well let me tell you, this cake was a total HIT! Not a single crumb was left. People who claimed not to like cake were reaching for seconds! I got tons questions on where to find this bakery and endless compliments on how light, fresh and downright insanely DELICIOUS this cake was. Total Success!!! Finally found my favorite bakery in HB!

The pastries are great; they’re similar to 85C café. However the best part of this bakery for me is the freshly baked bread in both white and wheat! My kids love the soft, pillowy texture. It makes for perfect peanut butter sandwiches and French toast that is out of this world. The bread is prepared and ready after 1pm, I think. :)

This is THEPLACETOGOTO for pastries that aren’t too sweet! Their birthday cakes are really good. Their fresh cream is very light and fluffy. The texture of the cake is soft and moist. They also have this banana bread that’s super bomb. Another favorite of mine is their chocolate cake/white bread loaf? It still amazes me how soft it is. CASHONLY!

Amazing cakes and pastries. The chocolate croissants are some of the best I have tried anywhere. When I get there right when they open the pastries are warm and melt in your mouth with melted chocolate and the perfect ratio of croissant pastry and chocolate. The cakes are sublime, gorgeous, not too sweet, airy and moist.

If you are looking for your typical chinese bakery, look no more! Kawaii Bakery really is . I ordered the strawberry pudding cake for Mother’s Day. So, let me tell you something, the BF’s family is very particular about their desserts. They don’t particularly enjoy desserts that are overly sweet, so imagine how happy I was to hear them say they enjoyed the cake quite a bit! Definitely bring cash. I had to go into the store and pay them upfront because it was a busy holiday for Mother’s Day, but the staff helping me that day told me any other day, I could’ve just called them and paid on the day of. I haven’t tried their other baked goods yet, but reviews say they’re good. Can’t wait to come back here and try their mango pudding cake! TLDR: Delicious asian cake. Not too sweet, whipped frosting and yummy pudding center. $ 29 for a round cake and comes in a very fancy schmancy box.

Small bakery, but they carry enough selections that hit the spot for me. Some of my faves: Taro Puff Pastry bun, Pork Sung pastry puff, Raisin bread, and Chocolate Cake/white bread loaf(the chocolate cake is baked on top of the white bread, so you get chocolate top, white bottom). I’ve not had a bad bread here. The breads are soft, so well made and at an average of $ 1.20-$ 1.50 per bread, it’s good bang for your buck. I typically spend $ 25 there and walk away with 2 bags of goodies.

I’m very happy with the cake. I loved that they included pudding in the cake. Something different. $ 29? Good price! Very presentable and cute box that it came with!

I ordered the vanilla custard strawberry cake for a birthday. It was $ 29 and it came in a really nice box. Cake was very fluffy and moist. The fresh fruits on top was very fresh, everyone seem to enjoyed it. They also have a couple made-to-go cakes in the refrigerator section but not a lot of variety, so I suggest ordering ahead of time.

This is my favorite place to buy a cake $ 29! Cheap! I got the strawberry and pudding cake. Nice fresh delicious and well made. So soft and fluffy. I thought the pudding would be strawberry though but it wasn’t. Oh well. I’ve also ordered the mango with pudding before. Damn good as well The taro with pudding is interesting because the pudding was taro too I think. It was all purple haha super rad! I’ll be back and will be buying all my cakes here. Winner for sure in my book. Do yourselves a favor and check this place out. They don’t have a huge selection because their cakes are always sold out it seems.

I remember coming here years ago with my mom, grandma, and little sister. We found this place while waiting for our PT appointment. I remember eyeing all the delicious pastries and breads. Of course, my mom bought us a few things to try out. I remember adoring everything here and falling in love with the mocha/white loafs.(We all loved it) The bread is so delicious because it’s light, fully, and not to sweet. Now years later it was a coworker’s birthday and I came by to pick up a mini cake. They are just too precious, delicious, and inexpensive to not get. The way they package also makes it look like you put way more thought into it than you actually did. Obviously, I couldn’t leave here without my mocha/white bread! So I picked up a bag and checked out. My first bite brought back such sweet memories and I remember it tasting just as good as did years ago. The only thing was there weren’t that many pastry options as I remember there being. I’m thinking that it might be because it’s already late. Don’t forget CASHONLY!

Store Opening is now 9:00AM instead of 8:30AM on Unilocal.I wanted to pick up a cake for my coworker retirement today at work. I was in a rush for time but the owner lady was so nice about it. The cake I wanted was not ready but she had rush my order so that I would get to work on time. Now on to the cake. What a unique cake to add pudding in the middle while still maintaining the texture of a great pudding. Fluffy and creamy. I had the mango pudding cake. It was SO moist and the sweetness was just right, then the mango hit you with a bit of acidity to finish it off. For $ 29 with tax, this is one BIG cake. Not only that this is such a great deal but it is also now my go to place for cake solely on the taste. I would expect to pay $ 40+ for a cake like this. Will definitely recommend this place to other people and coming back for future occasions.

The red bean bun is so amazingly fluffy and moist. The banana bread is a little greasy but delicious and I liked the extra TLC of sesame seeds on the top. The pineapple cakes are a solid 6 stars. That almost flaky outer crust that’s tender to the bite… is probably one of the two best that I’ve had in my life.(The other one imported from a fancy pants bakery in Taiwan.) The part that also blew me away was the pineapple filling. Its so light you can’t differentiate the layers when you’re chewing… which is completely different than the typical chewy jelly filling. Definitely will be coming back to get my carbs on! And stock up on those pineapple cakes! Yum!!!

My husband surprised me with one of the beautiful fruit-topped blueberry and custard filled chocolate cakes for my birthday — wow! We threw a beach bonfire party and the cake was a total hit with all of our guests. It had the perfect flavors without being too heavy. We loved the airiness of the chocolate cake, and the blueberry cream is something special. It was visually STUNNING too — classy & delicious. Kawaii Bakery is a great family-run local spot & we’ll definitely return for all our future parties.

I ordered a Vanilla Strawberry Pudding cake here for my moms birthday, and couldn’t have been happier bc is was really good! Upon walking towards the fridge to take a look at their birthday cakes I only saw two! Besides for the cake I ordered, there was another fruit cake with cocktail fruit fillings… So I thought, well I’m gonna go with the fresher cake. I was concerned about their lack of flavors that day and just hoped for the best that the other option in cake would be decent. So the cake was perfect in sweetness and the whipped cream on the outside wasn’t too much. This was my first time having pudding inside a cake, which I couldn’t taste at first because it’s light. However, when u take a couple more bites, it resembles a texture of egg pudding… I really looved what I got. I think next time I would keep in mind to make an order ahead of time bc their selection seems soo limited! Their cold pork sung sandwich was something I never had before. It was a little too creamy and sweet but the egg made up for it inside. This is one of my new favorite local bakeries now! Oh yeah, their packaging box for the cake was pretty dang creative, makes carrying and cleaning a lot easier.

I’m ashamed for not writing about this place A LOT sooner! Pretty much every time I’m in HB I make a detour to get my sister’s croissant and custard brioche fix, my moms coconut and or pineapple bread fix and I used to get my taro bun fix BUT I really hate taro except for some reason when I had their taro pastry and had just a liiiiiiiiitle bit of the taro paste, I actually liked it. BUT! I have a mad maaaaaaaad obsession with their peanut butter bread. This is practically the only thing I eat peanut butter since I’m an almond butter fiend and now I’m starting to dislike peanut butter weeeeeelllll unless its peanut butter cookies: p Speaking of almond, I enjoy their almond tart cookie thing and it reminds me of the almond cake cookies I used to have at the beloved and sincerely missed, Artesia bakery. I’ve always had great service. I can’t comment on the desserts in the case. I usually have other stops and don’t want that to spoil. Overall I love this place and their pastries and baked goods stay fresh even 2 days after purchase. My sister won’t eat her home made turkey sammies on anything but Kawaii’s mini croissants! We will continue coming to Kawaii on a biweekly basis :)
