Great service at very reasonable price. Had him set up my fretless bass and it turned out better than expected. It was done in a few hours and I picked it up the next day.

I got a new Gretsch delivered to me from Musicians Friend about a week before Easter, and I really wanted to use it for the big event! Unfortunately as most new guitars, it needed to be setup. In my case, there were some frets that were set too high and it was causing some annoying fret noise & buzz issues. I was pretty bummed out — I really wanted to use it for Easter service!
I called around and found Jon. He stepped up big time and got my guitar ready in 5 hours, just in time for Easter! I was so happy. He setup the guitar, re-​leveled every fret and got me a new set of strings for an amazing deal.

Jon did an install of a bridge pickup on my Squier Telecaster. He did a great job and also suggested a coil split modification for the lone volume knob. Everything works fantastic and I can’t be happier.
Jon is a really nice guy and I would recommend him for any guitar work you have in mind. I for one have found my «guitar guy» and will be sending more business his way.

Jon Does Ukuleles!!!
I had just received my brand new Oscar Schmidt baritone ukulele. After playing it for a little while I realized that it needed its action adjusted so I decided let Jon do the action on this new baritone uke.
He did a great job! In fact he did such a great job that I had him do all my other baritone ukuleles and a tenor ukulele as well which had some difficult fret and neck problems. Jon fixed everything!
Jon has also worked on other stringed instruments of mine and he always stands behind his work. You have nothing to lose by having Jon do all your tenor and baritone ukulele or any other stringed instrument work because if anything is not just right he will stand behind his work and make it right until you are completely satisfied. I know I am!

Jon is a really cool guy. I got in touch with him this morning and was able to drop off my acoustic guitar on the way to work. I needed the action lowered. I got a text from Jon about an hour before my shift ended saying the guitar was finished. On the way back from work I swung by, checked out the guitar, which played fantastic.
It seems lately that wherever I go I am being charged twice what things should cost. It was a very nice change of pace to meet a person who seems to care more about his doing good work for his customers.

I found Jon last year on Craigslist and he has simply been AWESOME! Now whenever I need work done on any of my guitars, I take it to Jon, and no one else. He has so far done for me fret levelings, custom pickup wirings, intonations and adjustments, custom nut installations, custom grounding/​shielding work, and the work has been phenomenal I’ve paid other techs 2x — 3x as much in the past, and I have not gotten this level of personal attention to detail and professionalism shown by Jon.
If it weren’t for Jon I would have given up trying to get issues with my guitars fixed, due to high costs and headaches from shoddy workmanship. He has enabled me to enjoy all of my guitars to their fullest!

Brought my unplayable Fender DG-​8S acoustic guitar in for Jon to set up. Dropped it off Wed. 11:30AM Got it back Thurs 5:30PM. Difference is night and day. My guitar now is very playable (even in my lousy hands) and sounds much better too. Jon is friendly, honest, and charges a fair rate. I’ll bring my future guitar needs to him.

One of the most difficult things for a musician to do is to bring their vintage instrument to someone and ask them to repair it. It requires a great deal of trust and confidence. Well, Jon did not disappoint! Besides being a great guitar tech, he’s also a real nice guy.
I brought him my 1966 Vox Tornado hollow body for a set-​up which it so desperately needed. Jon had it finished within a day and the fee was beyond nominal. Too low to quote! My guitar plays like new. Loved it so much that I brought him my acoustic the next day.

Do you want your guitar to play like you wish it played, when it came straight from the factory?
I don’t care if you own an Indonesian, Japanese or Korean made Epiphone, a Mexican or Japanese Strat or Tele, a big chain «House Brand» copy, if you want a very basic «setup» at a fair price, then look no further.
In all my years playing, recording, and working with artists both on the road and in the studio, I have realized how hard it is to find guys who do good work to take care of your instruments… and once you find these folks, the other piece of the puzzle is whether or not they will remain CONSISTENT IN THEIR WORK, and if they are reliable or will be there the next month… and last but not least — will their work be within your budget — or will they nickel and dime you, and do they guarantee their initial work, or will they try and get more out of you after failing on your instrument the first time around?
At the time when I was in need of very basic setups, I was lucky to have found Jon who does good basic setup work for very reasonable prices. Jon works out of his clean and good-​vibed home in Fountain Valley, so you can rest assured that your guitar or bass is in good hands. Jon’s strong points are basic pickup installs and standard intonation setups with a good turnaround time… his basic intonation/​setups were $ 30 and that included a set of strings. You are welcome to provide your own. Obviously, he doesn’t do everything for that same $ 30 bucks, but his strengths lie within the basic setup and a standard install of pickups, so if that is what you’re looking for — he will do a good job.
I was pleased with Jon’s initial pricing and his quick turnaround time on basic guitar setups and pickup installs. I was happy to send people looking for this basic service over to him as his pricing was better than most professional luthier shops and local music stores and he can turn around the guitar fairly quickly, often while you wait.

The first thing that I look for when turning over my guitar to someone is trust and Jon is that kind of person. He knew just what to do to get my guitar to play better than ever. If you are looking for someone that will treat you and your guitar with trust and utmost respect, Jon is the man. I only wish that I had taken my guitar (s) to him years earlier.
