Southland Ballet Academy is the most prestigious ballet school in Orange County and the home of Southern California’s renowned Festival Ballet Theatre. Our theatre strives to enrich the experience of Orange County’s dance audience by highlighting the work of world-renowned guest and resident choreographers. Boasting a roster of impressive, up-and-coming talent, the company’s productions feature internationally acclaimed guest artists from prestigious companies, such as American Ballet Theatre, Boston Ballet, Joffrey Ballet, Kirov Ballet, New York City Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, San Francisco Ballet and Scottish Ballet.
SBA offers dance classes and dance instruction for ages 3 through adult and levels beginner to professional. Students experience the highest quality of classical ballet training including pointe, pas de deux, character and, modern, as well as commercial dance classes in jazz, tap and hip hop.

Established in 1983.
SBA has been serving the OC since 1983 in dance education and lessons for the cities of Fountain Valley, Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, Costa Mesa, Westminster, Irvine, Mission Viejo, Laguna Beach, Lake Forest, Tustin, Santa Ana, Fullerton, and many others.

Business Owner
Salwa Rizkalla’s artistic vision and community involvement led to the creation of Festival Ballet Theatre (FBT), and its precursor Southland Ballet Academy (SBA). Her credentials as a classical ballet dancer include an impressive list of leading roles in well-known classical ballets, as well as appearances in original contemporary pieces. During her distinguished career as a professional dancer, Rizkalla had the privilege of working under the direction of world-renowned choreographers Leonid Lavrovsky and Serge Lifar. Trained in the Russian Vaganova method and having studied with ballet masters of the Bolshoi and the Kirov, Rizkalla holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Ballet Pedagogy.
Under Rizkalla’s tutelage and guidance, dancres have achieved their greatest goals by joining prestigious national and international ballet companies. In addition to her responsibilities as the artistic director of FBT and her busy teaching schedule at the Academy, Rizkalla was a faculty member of several
