First time here and they had a bbq Tri tip sandwich… oh my goodness it was amazing…

This place just doesn’t make a sandwich comparable to many other sandwich spots(ie mr. pickles, sandwich spot, Ike’s). I used to go here mainly for convenience but this most recent time, they practically made the definition of an inverse sandwich. Everything I asked for was left out of the sandwich(toasted, garlic sauce, mustard, etc.) and everything I didn’t want in the sandwich was put in(ie mayo). Luckily, I don’t have allergies but I had to return to the store to exchange it. Another issue is the head guy working there didn’t even bother to ask what’s wrong(the person making the sandwiches confronted me about the half wrapped sandwich I was bringing in and offered to change it). Only after it was made, he gave a half hearted sorry and didn’t even bother to ask why I exchanged it in the first place. He asked the sandwich maker what was going on rather than directly talking to the customer himself. Didn’t even offer anything to make up for the time and effort to come back to exchange it. Not asking for the world but at least a crappy bag of chips that they get in bulk or a free sandwich on my next visit. Glad I finally have a reason to stop coming for subpar high priced sandwiches.

Decent sandwiches but nothing special. I have been here a few times with friends and I can’t say that they have ever really impressed me. For the same price I could go to the plaza gourmet in edge water and get an amazing sandwich. Though I have never been disappointed, it is just a three star joint. They do carry it’s it ice cream, which I like. But nothing else is a standout.

Thoroughly average. The higher reviews made me consider this place but it’s basically on par with subway. Ordered #12 Italian, which was bland, and my wife’s hot sandwich was luke warm on the outside and cold on the inside. Would recommend going elsewhere.

I want this place to do better. Sandwiches are good but there are consistent issues with getting what you order. Requesting double meat or ordering a soda gets missed often by the cashier. Also, there are some basic courtesy issues that get skipped. Don’t expect to hear«Can I help you?» when the cashier sees you waiting or «You’re welcome» after saying thanks when you get your order. I’ve seen some beaming smiles when some customers order, but seems reserved for a select few.

Having a sandwich joint close to work can/will be detrimental to my body. On frequent occasions, Sandwich Monkey(SM), has been the go to meal for company lunches, Toastmaster lunches, and for my personal lunch. Overall, there sandwiches are tasty; I can only speak for the veg sandwiches, but all of my coworkers have seemed pleased with the selection. In addition to sandwiches, SM offers customizable salads and soups of the day. My one piece of advice. ONLINEORDER. Saves you time and you don’t have to linger around in their small space.

Hearty, huge, and carb-tastic sandwiches. You’ll end up wanting to unzip your pants to let your belly flop out. Pros: — a generous amount of anything and everything. — great place for vegetarians. There are 2 sandwiches available or you can customize a sandwich to your liking. — I typically get the Goodall(veg). It has a rich flavor and heavily packed with all sorts of ingredients. My hub gets his favorite, the Monkey’s Uncle(reuben). I’ve stolen a bite of his and it’s pretty damn good. We def recommend the reuben for the carnivores(or omnivores). — Clean interior. There’s not much room to sit inside… there’s 3 small tables inside and 2 outside. — staff is pleasant Con: — ??? their delicious bread will make u feel fat… especially Dutch Crunch(the unfortunately best tasting bread that SM offers) Tip: — roll = sub size. This is better to get as the bread won’t fall apart when you bite into your sandwich. — slice = bread slice. It’ll fall apart when you bite into it.

Very convenient location and friendly staff. Limited seating indoors, but there were seats outside. I ordered the Brass Monkey, which was basically a meatball sandwich. While the dutch crunch bread was fresh, they were a little skimpy on the meatballs. Perhaps if the roll was more proportionate to the meatball size it wouldn’t have been so noticeable. However, for $ 8.75, I was hoping for a more substantial and flavorful sandwich. Might be back if I was in a pinch and needed something quick. Perhaps this particular sandwich was a fluke.

The Sandwich Monkey Paradox I am stuffed from eating the Sandwich Monkey’s special Greek BBQ Sandwich, but the residual aroma & taste of the Sandwich Monkey’s special Greek BBQ Sandwich on my person from eating the Sandwich Monkey’s special Greek BBQ Sandwich makes me hungry for yet another Sandwich Monkey special Greek BBQ Sandwich. (btw — the other sandwiches are awesome as well)

The good: huge sandwiches with what seems like fresh ingredients. Quick service on a Sunday afternoon. The bad: the tuna sandwich came drenched in oil *on the outside*, making it very messy to eat. The #8 was surprisingly mediocre for having cream cheese, turkey and cranberries. Since it was so huge, I kept half the sandwich for dinner, but when I unwrapped it, somehow the bread had become completely soggy and was barely edible.

We love Sandwich Monkey! Great sandwiches made with fresh ingredients by their very friendly staff. They have been nice every single time I’ve been there, and that’s more than I can say for the majority of the restaurants on the peninsula. You also can’t beat the prices and late hours(late for FC at least — haha). My one complaint is that every single time I have come in, I’ve seen jerks parking in the handicapped spots out front while picking up food. This makes me very angry, particularly when it’s some jerk in a luxury car who thinks they’re a hotshot and can screw over people who might need the space. Yeah, our luxury SUV is nice too and no, I don’t love parking around the corner but come on, be a decent human being! I’m surprised that FCPD doesn’t do stings there, they could write tickets every 15 minutes. :/

Burn me once… shame on you, burn me twice… Shame on me. Thought I’d give this place another try. Got a turkey and cheddar on soft roll. Bread is good and garlic sauce too — hence the 2 stars. There was almost NO turkey though. And 1 tiny tomato. Pass.

Dropped by here for a quick grab and go lunch during a week day. It’s not bad per se, but I’d say it ranks 3rd after Sandwich Spot and Ike’s. What brings this place down is probably their bread. I strongly believe that the number one component of a good sandwich is a warm, fluffy, crunchy loaf of bread. It should never be wet, cold, hard, or soggy or any combination of them. Unfortunately the two sandwiches I ordered didn’t have a warm toasted crunch to each bite and therefore, I won’t be coming back. However, if this was your only choice it’s not a bad place to grab a quick bite on work days.

I like the sandwiches at this place… However The past 4 times I have come in here they have been out of Dutch Crunch bread! It’s not that I am coming in late or just before they closed. I have come in at around 1pm and they are completely sold out. You would think if a business has a popular item you would get more of it. If I go to Ike’s they are guaranteed not to be out of Dutch Crunch and I have never run into this issue. Went into sandwich monkey last night with my partner and asked if they had Dutch Crunch and walked out after they said they were out! I work for a local company and employees here have complained about this same issue. I wish that this shortage could be fixed; as sandwich monkey could be an awesome place. This is an update and I just tried again to get Dutch crunch at 12:45p and guess what! Out of Dutch Crunch bread! Making this place now a 1 star review! Not only that I was told they do have Dutch crunch and then after waiting 20 minutes I was told they are out! SUCKYWAYTORUN A BUSINESSSANDWICHMONKEY!

Great food, friendly staff, and close location. I usually go to the drawing board and make my own sandwich but my go to would be the #12 Italian jungle. The house made garlic sauce is delicious! They also have an app where you can order ahead and beat the line.

Tried Sandwich Monkey today for the first time when Ike’s was closed without warning. I had their #2-Monkey’s Uncle, which is their take on a classic pastrami & swiss sandwich. It’s pretty good, but the bread could use a good bit more toasting to help it hold up to the wet saurkraut. A little hotter in general wouldn’t hurt, either. But overall it was a solid sandwich.

Delicious Sandwich shop found in Foster City. I actually liked this place better than Ike’s nearby. The sandwiches are packed fully. I ordered #9, Turkey and Avocado, on Dutch Crunch, and I was very satisfied. I went with the full size, but the half size would have done just fine. They make the sandwiches pretty quickly, and it tasted great; the dutch crunch had a nice taste to it, a little crunch and a little smooth, very easy to go down. There’s some outdoor seating and just a few chairs inside. Service was prompt, fast, and friendly. You can’t really go wrong eating here or Ike’s; I’d probably rotate regularly between these two places if I was local

I went to Sandwich Monkey this week with a couple of friends. I got the Goodall sandwich, which was vegetarian. Unfortunately, they do not have tons of veggies to choose from like at Specialty’s. The sandwich was big, but just okay tasting. It had far too much mustard! Mustard is overpowering, so they should use a lot less. They also put far too much of their garlic sauce. It was sooooo oily and sooooo messy! It was the messiest sandwich I’ve ever eaten! I like that they sell different flavors of It’s It, like strawberry and spice pumpkin. Overall grade: C

I tried the Roasted Rascal(roast beef, cream cheese, safari sauce, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles & onions) on Dutch Crunch and the sandwich was average at best. Although the house safari sauce was delicious, the Roasted Rascal was soggy and flavorless, with an unfavorable bread-to-meat ratio. I’m not sure if it’s because I picked up the sandwich to-go, and had to drive 10 mins back to work, but the veggies were wilted and not fresh. I actually felt a little nauseous eating the portion of bread that was slathered with cream cheese, because the cheese was starting to separate and made the bread incredibly soggy. At most, there was 3 – 4 thin slices of roast beef in my sandwich, and I could barely taste it in the mountain of wilted lettuce in the sandwich. I pretty much felt like I was eating a massive loaf of bread slathered with sauce and day-old vegetables. For $ 10(tax included) for a sandwich, I would take my money to Ike’s down the road.
