History

Established in 1986.

In 1986, a group of families gathered around a common vision – a school that would offer an excellent secular curriculum, integrated with a vibrant, modern Judaic Studies curriculum; a vital institution in their community that would unite local families; a place of learning that would graduate confident, well-rounded children, with love and pride of their heritage and life-long thirst for knowledge. The families united to create the first Jewish Day School located between San Francisco and San Jose. The school (formerly the Jewish Day School of the North Peninsula) opened its doors to 21 Kindergarten through 2nd Grade students in the Fall of 1986. More than 28 years later, the Wornick Jewish Day School has flourished and grown to over 215 elementary and middle school students and successfully maintained its founders’ original vision. Today, the Wornick Jewish Day School resides on the beautiful North Peninsula Jewish Community Center Campus in Foster City.
