Great fast service. Always warm and smells good inside with comfy chairs. Infused red bulls are great drink to get. 5 stars!

Best coffee in town. Takes a bit longer than Starbucks, but the coffee is well worth the wait! The food is also much better than the other coffee shops in town.

Great coffee. Younger blonde that works there is rude, always gets food orders wrong.

I am writing this from my car, in the drive thru, where I have been waiting 12 minutes for a bagel.

Good coffee drinks. The owner is wonderful. A lot of Unilocal reviews have complained about the customer service but I’ve never had a problem.

I am in here at least once a week and I really like it here for lots of reasons. The owner and the girls working are always super friendly and helpful and the coffee is awesome. Their Mexican Mocha is ridiculous. I really like the character of this place-really cute small town feel where you feel like a regular sooner than later!

Baristas often have an attitude. The two working last time I was there were complaining about how some girl they were friends with was a, «stupid blonde b*tch.» And WHYTHEHELL can’t you plug in your laptop!!! I came here to escape my roommate who cannot seem to leave me alone for 10 minutes to write a very important cover letter for a job I am applying to. I show up and my computer is almost dead. Guess what??? No charging allowed. Ridiculous. What’s the point of having a coffee shop you can’t even sit down and write a paper in?!

This is the worst coffee shop ive ever been to. The customer service is so awful and the girls working there are so wraped up in their conversations with eachother, they dont even know what theyre making! Ive been a barista before. Not a difficult job.

If you like coffee and rude service go here. Last time I went for a drive up: Waiting for the car in front to leave. Driver’s sitting, talking to the window person. And talking and talking. I time it figuring its a wait for a drink time. At the 4 min mark, a few friendly exchanges, a wave, and then it’s my turn. I get to the window when the window person starts a non work conversation with her partner. This was after she saw me drive up. I waited a minute then drove off vowing never to go there again.

Expresso machine broken today so had a cider instead. Nice atmosphere but appears to have a strict rule against lounging or doing anything on a laptop. Owner seems to want a donut coffee shop style customer — not a relaxed bookstore café. Understandable since there are many shady looking homeless types in the region looking for a place to hang out and to use the bathroom. Owner might reconsider how to sort out those folks from paying customers who are not used to such school teacher rules. I give this place a Fortuna 4 which is like a SanFran 2

LOL what a joke of a coffee shop, no charging your devices, owner is a RAGEING bitch, would not stamp my shots card for a chi latte that cost 4.50? What? Yet another example of a poorly ran Humboldt county business. Oh and there is no wi-fi. Most unwelcoming place I’ve ever been. Joke joke joke joke joke.

Just passing through on our way down to San Jose, and discovered this little gem. My boyfriend got a bagel sandwich, and I got a breakfast burrito — both were delicious! The ingredients tasted super fresh(especially the amazing avocado I requested for on top of my burrito)!! I also got a latte, and it was fabulous — better than Starbucks(no joke)! If you’re looking for a nice coffee & food break, this is your spot. It’s totally unexpected and a little out of the way if you’re driving down the 101, but it’s well worth the detour!

I would have given 5 stars for service, pastries, and drinks, until the owner/manager came up and removed my phone from charging in the wall and told me to «get a motel.». She apparently has a strict«No charging» policy, and a strong prejudice against cyclists and travelers. When I apologized, and explained that a gentler approach would have been appreciated, she began to shout at me, and told me to get out. Other customers were looking on, and I’m far more embarrassed for her than for myself. It was the rudest treatment I’ve gotten since Seattle, biking all the way down the coast.

After searching for coffee in Arcata this place was a happy ending. Hubby had been swearing and yelling at the evil Starbucks and Dutch Brothers for a half hour. A coffee shop I found on Unilocal that was extremely hard to locate had become a hot dog place. This news was not well received. We were in deep. Then the heavens opened and we found Shotz. Cute, nice baristas, and perfect mochas. Whew. Disaster averted.

Good chai latte, and just learned today that they serve food too — was looking forward to trying it — but I guess I won’t now. I was in Humboldt for the first time to help a relative — on my vacation time. I stopped by Shotz a few times to have a tea, check email, and keep in touch with people back home /at work. The owner came out of nowhere and went into a loud and rather embarrassing three minute tirade at me about«using the place as a home office» because I’d plugged in my Mac Pro while drinking a large Chai Latte. I just sat there in bemusement — honestly waiting for the punchline until realizing she was serious. It was the first time she’d ever said a word to me and I guess a polite«excuse me» wouldn’t have helped her relieve her stress as much as screaming at a stranger. Have never seen or heard of such behavior from a coffee shop proprietor and whether she is having a bad /stressful day or not, I simply can’t condone treating someone like that. Respectfully suggest you try some decaf Ma’am. Shotz is ok if you like an owner whose philosophy appears to be «get your coffee, leave a tip, and get the F__K out!» How utterly delightful. Starbucks down the street is fantastic — great location, friendly staff, and from what I saw, they treated EVERYONE nicely, which has always been the true measure of character.

On our way out of town, my family and I stopped at Shotz for a quick breakfast. It was recommended to me by the concierge at our hotel, and he did us a great favor by telling us about this café. I ordered a breakfast sandwich that basically amounts to an egg mcmuffin, the big differences being the number of options you have as to its contents, and the vastly superior taste. Fresh ingredients make a huge difference. What I would most like to recommend is the chai shake. It’s a milkshake made with chai tea. I have never seen this offered anywhere before, which is a shame because it was delicious. The staff was very friendly, and the atmosphere was both relaxing and classy.

Having recently moved to Fortuna, I’ve been thrilled to dicover this little coffee shop! The atmosphere is clean and cozy, the staff is friendly(they remembered my order after only two visits), and it’s quickly becoming my favorite ‘office away from home-office’ ;) I should note that I can’t actually drink coffee myself, but they have a nice selection of delicious teas. My boyfriend says the white mochas are good :)
