Rain All Day Books

I called looking for a specific book series and the staff was super friendly on the phone and knew right away what they had available. She held the book for me till I was able to make it over after work. I am very pleased with the service. I’m new to the area and I think it’s wonderful to have this book store available instead of a huge corporate place.

This was my first time at Rain All Day books. Staff was super friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. I found tons of books, including some vintage titles I’d been wanting. Will definitely add this place to my stops in the area!

I love reading all sorts of books, and I love finding new things to enjoy. While quite often the new things I read are either loaned to me by friends or family, or I go to the local library to get, I love having a bookstore around that has good selection. Being a small area to live in, that does not tend to give many options for us avid-​readers who enjoy the tactile sensation of real books. That being said, I was thrilled when I heard about this book store here in Fortuna. I was quite surprised that I only recently heard of it when it appears to have been around for a couple of years now, and I realized that even though I have driven by it many times, I never knew it was there. That could just be me overlooking businesses while driving to somewhere specifically, but I think that it might have been «easy to pass-​by,» which I hope they can fix and bring more attention to because I, like many others I know, love to help support local businesses.
The first experience I have had with this business was not on account of my own reading, but for the reading of my nephew. I had heard of a book that he might find interest in, and immediately started to look online for prices among various companies. While the prices online were really cheap for this book, I still wanted to see if there was anywhere local that may have it. When I looked on the website for this business, it did not have it listed in the search option. Nonetheless, I called the business directly to see if they had it in stock. The woman on the phone (I am guessing the owner) was very kind and knowledgeable. Even though she did not think to have it in stock, she checked again anyway just to verify that she didn’t have it. And when I asked if she would be able to order it and how much it would cost to order it, I was glad to hear that the price was not much higher than if I had ordered the book online from Amazon or the sort and would not take long for the book to get here. Overall, I was very happy with the attitude and service from this store, and I look forward to many trips to see what gems they have for me to read next.
The only reason I give this a 4-​star rating and not a 5-​star is because of the business being somewhat hard to find what they do or don’t have in stock on their online website. When I talked on the phone with her, she admitted that not all of her stock was yet listed on the website and that the website was more of a way to let people know the business was there. The easy to find phone number and polite phone reception more than makes up for that though, and I definitely will come back to it in the future.

Great little Book store always have to go through the shop when ever I in Fortuna to see whats New and find myself some great books. You should not miss this place if your in Fortuna.

We were here during the big time Fortuna apple festival. The owner was extremely knowledgeable and was always smiling. It is a very small book store but she will order it for you if she does not have it. This is a great store.

I am a used bookstore aficionado, and look for them everywhere I travel. This one is a true gem that I found on a hiking trip to the north coast redwoods. The owner of the store is a delightful young woman who clearly loves books. She is living her dream owing a used bookstore. She has a great stock of books of all kinds, and terrific prices, much better than most other used bookstores I have been to (and I have been to many!). And she knows what she has — she must have an incredible memory. I’m fussy and hard to please when it comes to used book stores, and if I could give this one ten stars I would.
