I first went to the big shop in town and they quoted me a crazy price. I then went to this place and noticed that CalFire were getting their vehicles fixed there. Steve quoted me a price, about 35% cheaper than the big shop so I went with him. He fixed my brakes with new rotors, replaced my transmission filter and fluid and did an oil change for just a bit more than the goofs down the street wanted to charge me for brakes! Granted, Steve didn’t offer free popcorn but he serviced my car quicker and cheaper! Thanks Steve!

these guys are exactly the reason auto mechanics tend to have a bad name. Had a belt issue and made a mistake getting towed here. The two parts I needed were listed for $ 62 at autozone which was less than 5 min away and there was 1.5 hr labor. Would think $ 150 – 200 fix at any reasonable shop. Steve tells me $ 500… Most mechanics charge retail price for parts and might make a few extra $s off parts by getting a discounted price. Steve will charge you double, triple to 5x retail cost. Then add $ 100/​hr labor on top. Add insult to injury try to trow in work that does not need to be done. Example push to change $ 10 part (that is perfectly fine), charge $ 50 for part and $ 125 labor since book says its 1.25 hour job. Thing is all the work needed to get to said part is already paid for by having to fix original problem since all the parts getting to it need to be taken out anyway. So charge $ 175 total for $ 10 part that would take less than 2 minutes labor for 1 easy bolt? Are you serious? I am no mechanic but do know a bit about cars. When confronted about pricing/​work to be done Steve got all mad and started acting inconvenienced (dinner with wife popped up, not worth his time, etc). Would have walked out but didn’t want to get towed again and needed car back asap. Can only imagine if I was a lady, shops like these is where a simple $ 1 fuse might end up a $ 1000 «fix». Should give 2 stars since they actually got the work done but can’t do it to a place that preys and rips people off. Avoid like plague unless money is of no concern and other shops in town are busy.

Here it is the day before Thanksgiving and we have two problems with the RV and we’re pulling a trailer. Steve got us back on the road in 1 day. It could have been a 5 day wait. Friendly, professional and fair priced. Happy Thanksgiving… I am thankful to Steve.

We found Steve and Fortuna Automotive repair when the engine on our 1977 airstream argosy started making VERY strange noises, just south of Fortuna. After calling several places that did not touch RVS let alone vintage RVs. We called Steve. It was doon determined that all the oil had been lost through a torn line and we would need a new engine. Steve prepared us as to the magnitude of the job and expected cost. Being recently retired, we looked forward to more adventures and exploration in our Argosy and thought it a vital invesment. Steve kept us updated and patiently explained the details of problems we did not understand. We found him to be insightful, analytical, detail oriented, and stood by his work. So far our Argosy is working great, even better than we expected. Thanks Steve great job!!! Cant wait to take it to Alaska! Would definately recommend your work, totally professional!

Honest and fair, quick unless there’s a line in front of you, Steve is popular that way due to his reliability.
