The Double Exposure

If I had my way and got to simply choose my lot in life, I would either be a rock star, or a train rider who played acoustic songs to train people, or George Clooney. But somehow, I found my way into corporate America, which I’ve become more than happy with, and people expect me to dress like I want to be there. Like, on a regular basis and stuff.
And I also have a lot of things that I like to spend money on, and work clothes aren’t necessarily one of them, which I guess makes me an about average guy. Enter Double Exposure.
I’d still call it a thrift store, but we all know that sometimes, if you have enough patience, you can usually walk away with some pretty good finds. It’s a little easier here. I wouldn’t say, however, that Double Exposure is a thrift store in the sense that most people think of a thrift store — my visit turned up more collared button-​up shirts instead of cool T-​shirts. The price tag is a bit higher than you’d find at a typical thrift store, if only slightly, but you’ll likely find some higher quality items that you’d have to look pretty hard to find at a goodwill (and less, umm, eccentricity).
I left with some quality finds for things that seem practically new at a really good price. And the proceeds benefit Junior League — karma 1UP.

Maybe the reason I was disappointed with my visit was because I was expecting, well, something more than a thrift store. Like S T, my mom and I heard about Double Exposure from a news program and, with visions of discount designer goods in our heads, booked a trip to Fort Worth to check it out.
Despite being run by the Fort Worth Junior League, Double Exposure is not exactly cram packed with treasures. It’s more like a lame Plato’s Closet mixed with the worn-​out 90s styles of Goodwill. Someone should honestly do a quality check before throwing some of these pieces out onto the floor. A few gems are to be had, however. A friend scored a pair of very nice Escada dress slacks for $ 30, and I found a vibrant paisley-​print silk blouse by the same designer for $ 20. As a whole though, if you’re going for the thrifty hipster look, you’re golden.
As a last point, they did have a substantial menswear section, with belts and ties to boot.

I saw this store on the news one morning. The cause of how the store is supported and the many elite volunteers that donate their goods for the Junior League of FW. I thought why not check it out and support.
First of all you have to really look hard and don’t blink or you will defiantly miss it. Parking is crazy… DON’T park at the automotive shop off the street. There’s a small sign in Double Exposure window that tells you not too, DAMN! I almost did… whew! They must get a lot of tows or complaints. Parking is at the back and is very limited.
Upon entry the store smells like a thrifty store, if you get pass it you will find some pretty neat items. Most start at $ 3 and I didn’t see anything over $ 50 and that was a Prada bag in a glass case.
The items vary from household items, women, mens and kids clothing and shoes and accessories. Very clean dressing rooms. Overall, the place is color coded and well organized.
I found a few pieces, the saleslady was friendly but i wasn’t too impressed with the store.
I’ll stop by when in the area but if I blink and miss it… oooooh well!!!
