The Greek Orthodox Church is the One Holy, Catholic, Apostolic Church that was established on the feast of the Pentecost in Approximately 33 AD. The Greek Orthodox Church has proclaimed the Gospel as preached by the Apostles to the present day in Fort Worth Texas.

St. Demetrios was founded in Fort Worth by faithful, baptized Orthodox Christians in 1910.

You don’t have to be Greek to enjoy the food festival here each year. It’s loads of fun. My extended family happens to be members of this church and every year I get to help with the baking and prep for the festival. It’s well worth the crowd! Even if you just go for a pastry or two, you’re sure to enjoy it.

FORT WORTH GREEK FOOD FESTIVAL…
Oh my… how much fun this was! In is in it’s 40th year and I FINALLY went this past weekend. The first time I was planning to go, several of us girls were going to go after work and I was pregnant at the time, well… I went into labor that day and wasn’t able to make it because I was somewhat tied up in the most excruciating pain ever (I guess they excused me for that) giving birth to my first son! That was 18 years ago and I FINALLY went on Friday night! I wish I would have gone every year after he was born. All the great food, cool dancing, gifts, food you could buy and take home… OMGsh I spend SO much money there and I’m not even Greek! Someone I go to school with was a dancer and she asked me to go and I said I would (and it’s so important to be a person of your word) so my daughter and I went. My stomach hurt so bad by the time we left… I tried almost all the desserts, I had one of the best Greek salads EVER, and some other stuff that I can’t pronounce. It was a blast! They had face painting and a play area for the kids… all sorts of things to do. If you ever get the chance to go. you should. It’s every year for one weekend and it’s a fund raiser for the St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church. If you never get a chance to go to Greece this is a taste of it…
