As much as i have loved this place… i regret to have to inform others of bad practices to potential visitors, due to bad hire! I decided to INVITE3 new people to this jazz lounge which now I regret doing so. When we arrived on a busy sat night like tonight, i was well aware of a possible wait which was fine. We waited at least 40 mins by the door patiently and when the door bouncer allowed two people to enter that had arrived after, we spoke up asking for our wait time to be considered he very rudely told me if i wanted to enter to shut up… or leave. OKAY was all i said and we’d rather leave than to be spoken to that way. Which i was completely shocked and embarrassed after giving such compliments of this establishment. I have never been on a Saturday night and will NEVER do so or recommend this place to anyone ever again. To do so to 3 new patrons is exceedingly pretentious to the probability of future success. I am extremely disappointed. We left and had a successful evening elsewhere. So buyer beware in waiting for a table. Absolutely not worth being spoken to in this manner! If this review reaches at least one more person then I have done what I needed to do! How do you tell patrons to shut up or else don’t come in. I mean cmon!

This place was awesome! Very nice atmosphere perfect for date night. Saturday was my first time but definitely not my last, Sheran Goodspeed Keyton was amazing.

One our favorite places for live music. Really cool setting down the alley in a basement. Good drinks and service. Love Ricki Derek and the Vegas Six. He is Frank Sinatra!

I’ve been going to Scat Lounge for years and year(usually to watch Ricki Derek.) Went to the Christmas show last night — extremely disappointed. The show was great(a little dated but not Scat’s problem.) However, the service was pretty bad. My date and I had ordered a couple of martinis when we were seated. 10 minutes, no drinks, 20 minutes, no drinks, 30 minutes, 40 minutes — finally — 45 minutes in we get our drinks. Our table guests ordered a bottle of wine and immediately got their wine — was awkward. We were told the bar had run out of GLASSWARE. Are you kidding me? This is a lounge where one of their main ‘things’ is their martini menu and they ran out of martini glasses — insanity. Really changed the entire experience of the show for the worst. I’m not a big complainer type but when I spend the money to buy the table for a show and spend another couple of bills on drinks I expect the fundamentals to be covered(such as a sufficient inventory of glassware.) Oh, and I agree with a previous reviewer in regards to being able to smoke cigarettes but not cigars — makes absolutely no sense.

This place is amazing! I cannot believe I have lived in Fort Worth for 15 years and have not been here until now. The Scat Lounge is tucked away in an alley near Sundance Square. You take an elevator from the alley into what felt like a modern day speakeasy. Scat Lounge has live jazz every night. We came for Roxy Roca, an Austin band I have been wanting to see. Call ahead to make a reservation for a table. You’ll have to leave a message and they will call you back. The place does allow smoking, which is usually a no-go for me, but to my surprise, not a lot of people were smoking and those who did typically went outside. Scat has great drinks, and good prices as well. I was expecting the usual, high priced crappy drinks. No way. Decent wine list, great bartender, and wait staff! I was also expecting nasty bathrooms-another shock. This place has clean bathrooms!!! Yay! Scat Lounge is classy, the people who go there are classy, the staff is classy. If you want a great night on the town with your date, check out Scat Lounge!

I felt like I was in a sexy old school jazz/mobster movie. Awesome place to take a date and go listen to some great jazz. If you’re sensitive to cigarette smoke then you may want to avoid because smoking ISALLOWED. I hate the smell of cigarette smoke but it wasn’t that bad when I went. They don’t have food but the drinks are great.

Favorite jazz in Fort Worth. Sexy talented acts. Smokey. Classic jazz scene. You look around, can’t make out anyone’s face.

Decided to stop here while visiting downtown area for a few days. First time attending a jazz lounge and very much enjoyed it! Such a great, carefree ambiance and setting; loved how the singer/band were interactive with the audience as well as how people would randomly go up to dance just because. Dim lighting with just the stage light and candles around. I’d definitely come back and recommend this place, especially if you’re looking for something different to do in the city.

One of my favorite jazz lounges. Located underground for just an added funky touch. I love live music and instruments… There’s always a different band and couples dancing. It’s dark, it’s swanky and I love it.

My sister and I found this spot about a year ago. It is an amazing place to chill!!! We were skeptical at first because of the alley. But when we got off the elevator we were shocked to see this club… a hidden adventure!

Truly a unique experience. Go down the dark ally to the elevator, underneath the glowing neon sign at night. I feel like I’m going to a 1930s speak easy. Great atmosphere and central fort Worth location. But expensive drinks and uncomfortable chairs. I’d definitely go if you’ve never been. Jazz it a different animal and must be experience from time to time. Sneak next door for some fondue after the show.

The only reason I gave it a 1 star is because of their staffs apparent lack of understanding/communication w/their smoking policy. I called ahead of time to make sure they allowed cigars, and I was told they do. Upon arrival, and beginning to smoke my cigar, I was told that they in fact DONOT allow cigars as other cigarette smokers find them too strong. AREYOUFREAKIN’ KIDDINGME!!!

Bigger place than the reviews led me to believe. At least 20 tables and a bar in here. We came tonight with the storms… wasn’t packed. The atmosphere is great, the acoustics are great, drinks are 10ish, which is a little steep, but they are strong. Music is great. Will be back I’m very pleased.

I know not much of Jazz music, but it was awesome experience! Scat Jazz Lounge is located in the middle of downtown Fort worth. Parking lot is nearby and free with validation stamp from the lounge. The lounge is pretty small and cozy. If you want to focus on the music, you better sit on front seats than back seats. The lounge was full when I was there. Also, I could definitely tell other audiences were there for Jazz rather than hanging around. I want to come more often for Jazz.

Scat Jazz Lounge is one of the best hidden gems in Fort Worth! First, you start by walking down an alley but it’s actually fairly clean and well lit, so don’t worry. When you see the neon sign you push the button and get into the elevator which gives you the feel of a speakeasy from long ago. Once you go down, you go back in time. It’s pretty small and cozy, so you want to make sure you have reservations for a table! It’s dimly lit and intimate. You are close to the band/singers, and depending on the size of the ensemble, there is a small dance floor. The acoustics are great and the people watching is fantastic! The bartenders here are top notch! I highly recommend staying w/the Prohibition Era feel and choosing a Sazerac or Old Fashioned. However, one night I let the bartenders run free and she did make me a drink with Death’s Door Gin and St. Germaine’s Elderflower, and it blew me away! Their handmade cocktail list is pretty impressive. If you are there during the week, it’s wonderful and one of my favorite spots for last call. However, if you are on the weekend: MAKE A RESERVATION!!! Now… if they could get rid of all the smoke, they could triple the business… but then, where would they put everyone?

Scat Jazz Lounge is something straight out of New Orleans and into Sundance Square. Well off of. You start by walking down an alley to a neon sign, from there you get on the elevator and go to the basement one floor down, as soon as you get off the elevator you are greeted by the doorman and he shows you in to the hostess, from there she seats you in the dark, cozy, comfy quarters of the lounge. Pretty much every other Jazz lounge I have ever been to in NOLA. I LOVEDIT!!! It is a smaller venue that just makes you feel great as you are listening to the music, watching the people, and enjoying the drinks. For the most part the tables are two and four tops. There are a few larger ones if you are bringing a group. They do double seat tables, AWESOME some new friends! Seriously, it gives you the chance to meet some great people you never would have. There are a few seats that have some bad views, as in the support columns block the stage, so be aware of that. They’ve got an impressive cocktail list that has anything and everything you could want on it. Martini’s x 10. Old Fashioned’s, Sazerac’s, and on and on and on. The craft, and I do mean craft, cocktails are all delicious and you can’t go wrong with any choice you make. MAKE A RESERVATION!!! It was a very popular spot to be the night we went there so I was glad I had a reservation. All reservations not used by 9PM are released and then it’s first come first serve for seating. Scat Jazz Lounge is my new favorite intimate, romantic, awesome music venue.

Definitely one of my favorite downtown spots in Fort Worth. There’s really nothing like it, even in Dallas. It’s a very classy place where a tux is perfectly well placed for New Year’s Eve, but business casual on a weeknight is also all you need. The venue is a great size – very intimate but not too cramped or crowded. The cocktails are also very respectable but when I come here I tend to be a red wine girl. Might be tricky to find if you’ve never been, but if you can get yourself to the Jos. A. Bank store, then you’ve found it. Just go around to the side and you can’t miss the giant neon sign at the elevator that takes you down to the basement. Nearly all the seats are good but there are definitely some bad ones – there are about 4 giant support columns amidst the tables that can really affect your view(this is also true at the bar) – so if you suspect your show might be packed or you just want to be on the safe side, get tickets ahead of time! The online system is very user-friendly and the staff have always been as well. They DO allow smoking – complete with an old-fashioned cigarette machine by the bathrooms – which is my sole reason for subtracting a star. It’s a small enough space that you won’t be able to avoid even one smoker. Having said that, it’s not usually smothery smoky in there, either.

This place gets what a bar should be. Dark, great music, and tasty drinks, everything else is pretension. It’s a lounge’s job to set the scene for you to do your thing, not to be the center of attention. You’re supposed to be the center of attention, right? People are looking around, drinks are cold and colorful, the jazz is hot and creative. The tone is set to make your own music. The drinks are ready for you to make your own concoction in life. The darkness brings you just enough cover to re-create yourself and live The life you’ve wanted. So grab the elevator down to the basement and feel the Jazz the way it used to be.

Awesome place. We went on a Saturday evening. Cover was $ 10 per person and the live music started at 9p. The ambience oozes NYC speakeasy jazz club. The lighting is low, there are tables scattered in a small space with a barely better lighted stage in front. Bar’s in the back and was busy– but servers watch over the tables to make sure drink glasses never empty. Even getting there was an adventure. You’ll traverse down a dimly lit«alley»(there’s a small sign on 4th St. indicating where Scat resides) and immediately face an elevator. Travel down to the basement level and you’ll walk into Scat Jazz. The night we attended it was traditional jazz, very cool stuff. The acoustics were perfect– every instrument was clearly heard. Scat on a Saturday is busy, so plan to arrive early. Check the web site for performers, dress code(it’s casual with a few simple rules), and directions. It appears there are a few nights a week with no cover charge. There’s no kitchen so grab a bite somewhere close before heading over.
