My love and I went here for the first time, it’s small but it’s good. We got the Brisket and Sausage by the pound, with Red Beans, Mac and Cheese and Potatoe salad all was good. We will be back!!!

Saturday was the second time I got to enjoy the goodness of the sausage shoppe. I’ve never been inside but each time I’ve ordered ox tails. The first time there was more fat than meat; however what was offered was amazing. I was saddened there wasn’t an official website, but luckily Unilocal gave me the menu items. I wasn’t aware that multiple choices would be needed because they could very well not carry all options. I’m giving 3 stars each time one of my sides wasn’t available & the first trip had some lackluster moments. The second time my oxtails were more lean & meaty, the candy yams were almost like grannies, the greens were tender, & there were perfectly seasoned cabbage. I can’t wait to actually go visit and try what else they have to offer.

We are visiting our daughter in Ft Worth. She told us how delicious the chopped beef sandwich is, and it is!!! Generous servings, warm bread… yum!!!

This was my first time here. The people were nice and helpful. The quantity of food served was good. Everything tasted great except my wife didn’t like the Mac and cheese saying is was to dry and missed cheese. I in return felt that the mashed potatoes were dry and child have had some gravy on it. The brisket was good tasting.

My wife bought a rib plate yesterday. Im sorry but this taste like baked ribs. It didn’t have that bbq flavor or texture. It was fatty and baked tasting. I try to support my people but how get tibs wrong.

This is my third trip to the Sausage Shop. I have enjoyed the food on each visit and the employees are super nice. So far the best meal I’ve had has been the oxtails. They were fall of the bone. Looking forward to trying everything else on the menu.

My Hubby and I stopped in to check out this restaurant on our way back home to Houston. We wanted to find a Soul Food restaurant in the Dallas/Ft Worth area to try and see who can stand up to Houston’ favorite Soul Food Restaurant… Mikki’s. The atmosphere was very laid back and people kept coming in to place orders, which is a good sign. Well, this restaurant did a pretty good job standing up to our expectations! We had, Ox-Tails, Turkey Wings and smothered Pork Chops! Yummy! Our sides included, Mustard Greens, Mac n Cheese, Cabbage, and dressing! I am pretty funny when it come to Mustard Greens and these are the BEST I have ever tasted! My husband loved the cabbage and mac n cheese. We had plenty left to travel home with. We will be back on our next trip to Ft. Worth! :) Thanks Unilocal reviews for helping us find The Sausage Shoppe!

I just left The Sausage Shop, after hearing so many good things about this restaurant. I ordered chicken & dressing, requesting white meat, & the server said«We don’t have white meat», so I said«OK I’ll have fried catfish» & she said«Not on Sundays», so I said«OK, beef tips & rice» & she scooped out the last ½ spoon of rice from the pan & said, «We’re outta rice» so I said«Three strikes, I’m out! I’ll come back another day!» I can’t honestly say when that will be though!

Had oxtails and tried some of the sausage. The sausage was the best sausage. The oxtails were tender and tasty. Fell off the bone tender. Not many places serve oxtails so I was a happy camper :). I can’t wait to try the catfish and pig’s feet: P. Very crowded on Sunday though. Long lines, although they worked through them relatively quick. They ran out of sausage so if you want sausage, I suggest to go early.

We love this place. I’ve been there about 4 times now. my friend and I got one order of porch chops, Mac, cabbage, and black eyed peas. We ate the pork chop with a fork. It was amazing. The Mac and cheese needed seasoning the first time but was great the second time I got it and the 3rd. I LOVE cabbage but I agree with the other poster that it does have a weird flavor. I still eat it but have had much better. I got there 20 minutes to close and they were out of almost everything. The lady said she couldn’t give anymore greens but there were some In the warmer. I assume those were for them to take home after work. There wasn’t much. I’m ok with that I was just bummed because I could see them but not eat them. This day they were out of most so I ended up getting the chicken spaghetti. Where it had great potential I found that same odd flavor took over. I couldn’t eat it and I tried. I really did. Then I tried to make my kids eat it without saying anything about the weird flavor and they wouldn’t eat it either. BUT my husband loved it. So maybe it’s just a personal taste thing. I had the turkey leg and loved that. Southern Black eyed peas are one of my favorite things. I won’t buy them there again. no flavor 2 times. corn bread is amazing and consistent. I had the ribs the other day and found them to be very good. not dry at all. I think the ribs are the first thing to go every day. And have twice seen the line to the door. i love sides and I wish I liked more of them. The greens are great but were too salty each time and I like salt. I eat more salt than anyone I know. Too salty for me is odd. my overall review is this place has very good food. Yet it’s inconsistent and there is an odd seasoning being over used in my opinion. Nutmeg maybe? I couldn’t place it. the meats are on point. I wish the sides were better since that’s always my favorite part. Also the cabbage has been consistently mushy. I like a little bite to my cabbage. It’s more like stewed cabbage without the tomatoes. I also had a cold side item. It needed salt and we were eating at the park.. I think it was the cucumber salad. I’ll keep going back. I want to try all the things to find what i like the most. You can tell there is time and appreciation put in these foods but some of the flavors just aren’t my style. Keith hicks of buttons is a good friend and I’m so spoiled by his years of food. All my opinions would come from compared to his food as its my main reference. Oh and the service has been generally super friendly. I had one person that seemed to hate their job but maybe they were just having a bad day and the last time that I was there a lady came in and rung us up but never acknowledged my daughter and me. She just talked to another lady behind us loudly and typed on her phone as she was ringing us up. I kept thinking she was talking to me and was very confused. When we got to the car my 11 year old daughter said«that lady was rude» I thought it was interesting that she picked up on what I was picking up on. That was right before close though so there may have been a lot going on but they were having a personal conversation and I didn’t want to interrupt when wanting to ask if they had any cold sides left so I didn’t ask.

One Sunday evening and going back and forth with the«what do you want for dinner» routine, we decided to give Sausage Shoppe a try. Not wanting to go far, I wanted some ribs, searched for ribs, and came across the Sausage Shoppe. I got the ribs and they came with three sides. I got cabbage, greens, and cucumber salad. My husband got sausage with mac and cheese, and kids got fried catfish. The ribs here weren’t bad. They were falling off the bone, but a little dry. Something was lacking. The cabbage and the greens had a weird taste to them. Maybe the seasoning or what they were cooked in. They probably just needed some pepper vinegar and would’ve been fine. I didn’t like my husband’s sausage.heh. You would think being named Sausage Shoppe the Sausage would be great. It didn’t have flavor to it and was dry inside. The fried catfish! I’ll be back for the catfish. It was surprisingly good. Not Madea’s, but it’s decent food and close. I may be back to give it a try again.

If you love soul food come check this place out. Fort Worth doesn’t have too many soul food establishments that I would write about. I love the turkey wings by far my favorite. The beans are so good almost as good as my father’s beans but I can’t tell him that. I can honestly say I haven’t tried anything on the menu that I didn’t like. I can’t eat this type of food daily but oh if I could I surely would.

I tried this place based on the reviews. I had time to kill nearby so I came in for dinner. I made the mistake of ordering the sausage plate(again, based on the reviews… and based on the name of the establishment). The sausage was ok at best. Unlike other Texas BBQ places with kielbasa like sausage, this was more like a smoked Italian sausage. I just didn’t find it flavorful enough, especially for a place called the Sausage Shoppe! The Mac N Cheese was excellent — some of the best I’ve had. That kicked this place up a star. The beans were ok. A little bland and nothing to write home about, but they weren’t terrible. If I go back, I likely won’t get them again, but only because there are other things to try first. The service was great — really friendly man serving the meat and a very, very friendly young woman behind the register who twice asked how I was doing as she tidied up. The service gave this place an additional star. I don’t know what the BBQ competition is like in the area, but I have to assume there is better. They’ve been around a long time, according to the door, so maybe I will try again, but I did not leave impressed.

Was so excited to eat here. Employees were sweet. But was disappointed they didn’t have hot links. But I got brisket instead it was really good. Was so excited to get 3 veggies with the plate. I got Mac and chez cold and no flavor same with black eyed peas. Green beans tasted old and waxed like. So disappointed. Was hopeful this would be my new down home cooking place.

Barbecue makes me happy. Soul food does too. We tried this café on a Sunday afternoon and it was a brilliant choice. They had the regular BBQ menu available plus a Soul Food Sunday menu. We decided to go with the soul food. My friend ordered brisket with cabbage and I went with a vegetable plate. The food was excellent, the customer service was also excellent. The entire staff was friendly and personable and they invited us back telling us about the catfish specials on Thursdays and Fridays. I like Sausage Shoppe a lot. They have oxtails and brisket on their menu. I recommend a visit or two. Everything was so good. The only recommendation I would have is to upgrade their tea game. That tea tasted terrible and since I don’t drink soda I had to switch to water. Water is good for me though, I’m already planning my next visit.

If you want homemade cooking this is the place to go. I had sausage plate with mac and cheese, greens, cornbread, and mashed potatoes($ 10.99). Everything was delicious!!! My boyfriend got the chopped brisket sandwich($ 5) and it was overflowing with meat. My brother got fall off the bone ribs and yams. Great prices and delicious food, can’t go wrong!

Glad I found this place! Food: Okay let’s get down to it. Have I had better BBQ before? Yes. BUT this was still pretty damn good. Especially for the price. If I were to just rate the food, I’m at a 4⁄5. The ribs were good but they could have been more tender. The mac n cheese was great, potato salad was phenomenal, corn bread was decent nothing spectacular, and the mashed potatoes and gravy were just okay. The sausage is where it’s at. The sausage is GOOOOOOOOD! Service: This is where this place takes off. 6⁄5. Seriously. Owner personally came by my table and asked if I needed anything and if I was enjoying my food. All of the employees were extremely nice. Makes you feel right at home. HIGHLYRECOMMENDED. Enjoy.

This place is legit. I had the house made sausage and pork ribs. Both were very flavorful and tender. The sides are what also attracted me here. Greens, cabbage, braised green beans. All old school cooking and very very flavorful. The line had 5 people serving which made the speed of service quick. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is the dinning room was hot.

Been here a few time and I can say that the food is good and worth the money but the customer service is lacking… a lot. I like the food and is better then most places I’ve been and the few times I was there they ran out of the meat on the menu the sides are ok, it’s not over flavored but not enough flavors either Like I said the food is good but the customers service sucks, I don’t think it’s nice to ask a customer when they walk in «what do ya’ll want today?» Then look the other way cause they didn’t want us there
