Periodontal disease is a chronic condition that impacts the health of the gums, bone, and the supportive tissue that keeps the teeth anchored to the jaw. The disease is often the result of a bacterial infection that attacks these tissues, but it can also be the result of a birth condition, an injury, an orthodontic or bite-related condition, or the premature loss of a permanent tooth.
There are several health and environmental factors that can influence the state of your periodontal health:
Poorly fitting or failing dental restorations
Smoking
Crowded teeth or misalignment
Clenching or grinding (bruxism)
Hormonal fluctuations
Poor nutrition
Medications
Systemic health conditions
Customize Your Consultation
In order to provide you with the appropriate treatment plan, we will perform a consultation and clinical examination to identify your needs as well as any factors that may be contributing to the condition of your oral health.
