The Lone Star Film Society (LSFS) is a 501©(3) non-profit organization that exists to cultivate an appreciation and understanding of the moving image as an art form while showcasing the City of Fort Worth to the world. The Society accomplishes this mission through year-round presentation, education, and community collaboration. This includes an annual film festival that is the leading event of its kind in North Texas.

The objectives are quite simple: bring the best in film to Fort Worth and foster a community and culture to appreciate the moving image as an art form while promoting the City of Fort Worth. In pursuing this objective, the LSFS joins organizations like the San Francisco Film Society and Film Society of Lincoln Center in supporting a «culture of cinema» vital to the international art community and industry of the moving image.

The film society pursues these objectives through a series of year-round programs including screenings of the best in new and repertory world cinema, educational screenings for children and adults, partnerships with other cultural institutions within the City of Fort Worth such as the Kimbell and Modern Art museums, filmmaking workshops for underserved and at risk youth in North Texas, and presenting the annual Lone Star Film Festival (LSFF) in Sundance Square.
