Third time I’ve visited this place and every single time the middle of my sugar cookie is completely raw, the smell and taste is raw, I mean RAW!!! Super cute designs and super cute Bakery but why are all of the cookies completely raw? even the texture is like it has not been baked all the way! I know everyone wants that amazing melts in your mouth soft sugar cookie, but they’re doing it completely wrong and I’m concerned about the health of the public. And here’s another thing I would really like to add… I used to work as a health inspector, and the only thing that would allow for the cupcakes to sit out on a counter all day and not in a cooler or a refrigerator is because the icing came out of a bucket and is not fresh or homemade. That stuff has a six month shelf life. If they use real butter cream it would have to be refrigerated. So I just want you to know what kind of product you were getting. That particular icing even has a particular smell it’s very distinctive. I’m not saying it’s bad it’s just not the fresh kind of icing that you can get at several other bakeries instead. This place has so much potential, please help your product become amazing!!! I’ll still try u guys again, just hope u improve the cookie dough situation!

I saw this little shop while out the day before my birthday and 100% of me wishes I had turned a blind eye to the store after the actual visit. Lets start from the beginning… store signage and cupcake boxes were cute but the store décor and curb appeal looked cheap and rushed. When we (my mom and I) walked in we were greeted immediately and were advised of the products, pricing, and local favorites. Now, we went in for cupcakes, but we were offered samples of sugar cookies and after tasting them, that was a warning that we should have left then. The cookies tasted raw in the middle and the frosting was overwhelmingly sweet. I asked about the flavor of the icing as it was very strong and I was told it had some form of almond flavoring which was very overpowering. In theory, we should have left while we were ahead, instead we purchased 2 cupcakes — one Oreo and the other Coconut. When we made it home, we discovered there was obviously a pumice stone disguised as a cupcake. The cake was extremely dry and very dense to the touch. The ratio of icing to cupcake was WAY off and the icing was BEYOND sweet… even the Cavity Creeps wouldn’t have been able to deal with the amount of sugar in the icing. It was also very grainy, which after reading another review could best be explained as the edible glitter they use to make them sparkly. After such a bad pre birthday purchase, I decided to read other reviews to make sure I wasn’t being too hard on them, and it’s quite obvious that the company doesn’t take heed to the reviews they read as there are some from at least 5 years ago that have the same complaints… cupcakes are too dry and icing too sweet. Cupcakes are meant to be moist and have the right amount of sugar… they are meant to bring a sparkle to our eyes and happy butterflies to our tummies. I wish there had been a warning sign denoting the fact that the cupcakes were health hazards, not deserts. Future buyers, beware, you have been warned. :(On a related note, the only reason I gave one star was for the service.

My Favorite cookies in the whole wide world! Fun to pick what design you want too. I have lived in several states and travelled to many places but none compare. I always make it a priority to stop in while in Fort Worth. On my way now to get some for my friends at home … Plus a few to have once I’m home. :)

Service was awesome! Staff was very helpful when I was ordering cupcakes for delivery.

My first visit wasn’t the best, I bought a variety of cupcakes to bring home to my family. The frosting was «OK» but the cake was extremely dry… tasted quite old. I thought maybe they had a bad batch or bad day. I didn’t go back for well over a year. This time I visited with a group of friends. I thought I’ll go ahead and give them another shot. I got a couple of their TCU sugar cookies and half dozen cupcakes. Guess what!!! I think they were serving last years cupcakes. That did it for me… I won’t be back.

Ordered a few special cookies for a party and they were delicious. The staff is very friendly and helpful and want to make sure you have a great experience!

Skip this place. I had the worst experience I have ever had with a bakery when trying to order cupcakes from J. Rae’s. We ordered a variety of cupcakes for a birthday dinner and when we picked them up, we took them to the restaurant. Upon opening the box, it did not seem like the correct assortment was there, and there was buttercream icing on the cakes that were supposed to have cream cheese icing. The cupcakes were all so dry and tasteless, out of a $ 45 order and a party of 11, no one ate more than a bite or two of their cupcakes, and we had tons of leftover cupcakes that no one wanted. We were so disappointed between the missing flavors, mismatched icings, and dry terrible cakes that we left from the dinner to return them, only to be greeted with the worst customer service imaginable. We were so frustrated by our experience that we ended up in phone conversations back and forth for nearly a week trying to get at least a partial refund after the terrible experience. The manager refused to refund, but gave us a small cheesecake, which was similarly inedible and gross – my family loves cheesecake, and no one could even eat a single slice.

Decent cupcake and cake pop. Tried 4 items over 3 days.
Day 1 strawberry cupcake and Oreo cake ball pop. The strawberry cake tasted like Betty Crocker. The icing was ver crystallized and crunchy. Not good. Cake pop was yummy. Chocolate cake was like a brownie and the icing tasted good.
Day 2 had the carrot cake cupcake. Better cake this time. Had nice chunks of nuts and carrots. Cream cheese icing was decent.
Day 3 tried German chocolate cupcake. Cake was dry and boring but the coconut icing was fabulous.
So overall I give this place a 3 star rating. It’s no where near sprinkles or cupcakery but the price at $ 2.50 a cupcake doesn’t break the bank and it is the only cupcake shop in west 7^th. I was surprised that some of their decorated cookies were up to $ 4.50 each! Who in the hell buys a $ 5 cookie, even near TCU.

Well today’s my birthday so I wanted a cupcake… shouldn’t of picked this place. So I guess all of the cupcakes have cream cheese frosting? So I ask the girl can I taste a little since I want buttercream she looked at me like I was crazy. «We dont give samples» well Im not asking to sample the whole cupcake! I didn’t want to buy a reg size cupcake for $ 2.50 and not like it. Well then we get a cookie too that was $ 3.50 for a cookie no bigger than my finger. Well I didn’t finish the cupcake it had more frosting then cake and I had to buy a water to wash it down it was so dry and thick. I threw most of it away. Ok so I’m home now and I’m trying this cookie that people says is great… its raw!!! Yes it is raw in the middle… so now that little $ 3.50 cookie is going into the trash too. So dont waste your money I would find another place to find a sweet treat. Im sad its my birthday and I can’t even have a treat. And those 2 girls can at least pretend to like their job, they work in a cupcake place who wouldn’t be happy!

So their cookies were meant to be more aesthetic and perfectly decorative over home-​baked from scratch quality. Our office gets them once in a while and I enjoy the red velvet cupcakes. I hardly ever buy cupcakes in general, but find the service just fine. The girls there are very polite and kind when we walk in.

Love, love, love some J Rae’s! If I must suggest one flavor cupcake, go for the strawberry or coconut. They’re fabulous!
Another reason we love J Rae’s, as odd as this sounds, they keep their nut containing cupcakes on the lower level of the case. My daughter has a severe allergy and I am always thinking of this in the back of my head. If the nutty cakes are on the bottom, nuts don’t have a chance to fall on to whatever flavor we’re getting. I don’t know if they do this on purpose, but I love it. If they ever stop, we’ll have to stop coming.
Docked 1 star because the service is not friendly at all! And it’s every time I’m there, so no fluke «my boyfriend dumped me» type of thing, they’re just rude. A smile and conversation will get you far in life.

Service was greatly lacking. No welcome, no smile, no nothing. The treats are okay but expensive. Too many other good options out there with good service, doubt I’ll go back.

THE SUGAR COOKIES, DEAR SWEET UNIVERSE THE SUGAR COOKIES.
They come in all sorts of shapes, sizes. seasonal ones and everyday ones. I’ve had the cupcakes and they’re great too, but when the cards are down… go for the sugar cookies.

The little brunette girl was rude when we first walked in… Major turn off. We left without buying. The place is too bare and cold looking. Cheap ikea décor, original…

I picked up cupcakes last week for a birthday celebration at our office. My boss strongly endorsed these cupcakes, so that is how we made the decision to order from here.
The shop has cute décor and the staff is extremely friendly. As for the cupcakes, they were OK. If you love frosting then these are the ones for you. I had ordered Carrot Cake, Red Velvet, Vanilla with Chocolate Frosting and German Chocolate. The Red Velvet was dry, but the frosting helped cover that up. I did like the flavor of the frosting.
I’d rather give 2 ½ stars, because there was nothing terrible about my experience. Just nothing stellar either. Will I go back? Depends… my office seems to think J. Rae’s is the go to for cupcakes. I might try something else next time it’s requested.

I give this place 4 stars solely on their cake balls… the cookies are not my thing (more of a homemade type of guy) but the cake balls are freaking amazing, and their cupcakes are awesome too. If in FW, you have to drop in and try the red velvet and oreo cake balls. ;)

Cute shop, friendly staff and delicious cupcakes! We tried the carrot cake and red velvet and both were so tasty… the frosting was whipped cream cheese and absolutely yummy!

Sugar cookies in the hay-​oooouse!!! HEEEY!!! ZOMG. Those cookies are NOT normal. I could eat prolly 100 of them… thick, sugary, yummy buttery hard yet still soft icing. Chocolate chip cookies or perhaps a peanut butter cookie? Neither? Ok what about an oatmeal raisin or snickerdoodle cookie? Oh yea lover. Come hither. Oh and their cheesecakes? Forget it… your life will be over.
I’ve never had one of their cupcakes, but my friend says their pretty dang delicious. Will have to put that on my to-​do list.
As soon as you walk into this colorful little storefront you are engulfed in the most amazeballs smells your nostrils will have ever the pleasure of smelling. The peeps that work there are ALWAYS frosting some new addition to the case or pulling something out of their enormous ovens… its all so bustling!
Oh and for certain holidays… Valentines Day, Halloween, etc. The cookies are so sweetly decorated. I bought MP some undies (a cookie in the shape of a triangle decorated like a pair of naughty undies)…not actual undies. Shoosh. They also do custom orders for anything they sell… so bring a batch of these beauties to your next party! Prices are about what you would expect for a custom boutique cookie, about $ 4. Worth. Every. Penny.

I happened upon this place and thought I would surprise husband w/​some sweet treats so I ended up with an assortment of cookies. Most of the cookies were amazing but one of the adorable sugar cookies was a little dry so it was pitched.
Overall, cute store and I would be happy to try some other delights there in the future.

Went to J. Rae’s for the first time the other day. Maybe I’m spoiled having lived in DC (land of the cupcake shops) but this place did not meet or exceed my expectations. I went with two friends and we each got different kinds and shared. The cupcakes are probably ½ frosting to ½ cake… off balance for me. A cupcake is primarily that, a cake. The pumpkin (seasonal) cupcake was probably my favorite, but still I just wasn’t too impressed.
Something I did appreciate was in décor and the cute little touches. The shop is adorable and inviting :)
Parking is tough, given the location. We went on a weekday and still had a hard time finding a place to park. The lot is awkward and full.
While the presentation was excellent, the food just didn’t measure up (to echo Gail S!). I will probably try it again since they are much closer to me than La Bella, but I do prefer the latter.
