Greenwood Funeral Homes and Cremation – Mount Olivet Chapel

Sadly, we had to bury our baby at the babyland lot last week… Although, it was one of the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do in my life; the director, Carl, was very honest, comforting, and sweet. He took gentle care of my beloved child and treated her w/​respect and dignity. He was also understanding, and gave us time to grieve and be w/​her without rushing us. Their whole staff was kind and helpful. It saddens me and breaks my heart to have to write a review for a funeral home, but I’m so glad my daughter is buried at a place where it’s well taken of w/​pride. Thank you, Carl, for being so understanding; and also, for treating our daughter with such gentleness and care.

Keep your door to door salesmen off my property, away from my neighbors, off my street, and out of my city! Don’t you get enough «walk up» business without pestering people for their $$$$ multiple times a year! Your company makes me sick.

Unilocal is a strange place to talk about funerals, but I think it’s important to help others who may need the info. I planned 2 funerals at Mt. Olivet & my family has been buried at Mt. Olivet Cemetery for 5 generations. I have attended dozens of funerals there and all went smoothly w/​o any problems. What matters most when grieving people have to plan a big, expensive event while they’re in shock is that the funeral home is experienced, kind and honest. The staff at Mt. Olivet is all of these things. I have only praise for the director who helped me plan my parents’ funerals. I cried through much of the planning and was unable to think clearly. He was the kindest, most helpful person. Perfect for the job. I used the florist shop and they too were very kind and the flowers were beautiful. There is a lot to decide when you make funeral arrangements. It is very difficult and can be very expensive. There were times when the director encouraged me to save money on certain items. There was ZERO pressure to buy more, buy the best, etc. Headstones were engraved perfectly & delivered in the time frame promised. The cemetery is beautiful, like a park, w/​old oaks shading some of the graves. No one wants to plan a funeral, but planning one w/​Mt. Olivet is as close as you will get to someone treating you like their own family as they walk you through the hardest time in your life.

All great but the worlds oldest service leader who wanted to save souls and his preaching went on for an hour preaching like he was in church. Very bad and just to long for the family to have to listen to him ramble on. And a lot of the people at the service are not religious so why should we have to be preached at. Sad and old fashioned .We will not be using them again.

I have been to quite a few funerals here, and when my father in law passed away, they were so nice to our family. We wanted to choose our own music for his service, and they were very accommodating.

I hate that I’m writing this review for so many reasons, but these guys were pretty nice during my dealings with them. Granted, I wasn’t working out specifics or anything like that. But the receptionist and funeral director were both very polite and helpful during a difficult time and I didn’t hear any complaints from other family members. I don’t have anything to compare it to (the last two funerals I attended/​dealt with were here). But, nothing went wrong. And, when you are dealing with a funeral, that’s important.
