I needed a patent lawyer and I talked to several lawyers I knew, all of which said they could not recommend a good one. After some searching, I found a great one.
Richard of Eldredge Law Firm was extremely helpful. He met during a free consultation at a Starbucks near me. He listened to my idea, explained what was and what was not patentable. He then explained the cost, the process, and the timeline.
Richard did a great job explaining a difficult process and making it simple. Additionally, he is an engineer so he knows how to make the technical drawings for the patent. He took the time to research any similar patents first. This is important because if this step is not done your application is very likely to get rejected later and your money and time wasted. It costs more up front using a firm like this but if you really want a patent to get through — you need to do it.
Richard finished all the research and sent me several drafts and worked with every change or question I had. He had my patent filed quickly and painlessly. Now I get to sit and wait for the application to go through. That takes time (potentially years) but what in the government doesn’t?
