Dupont Shoe Repair

A place to have your shoes, purses, saddles, etc., repaired is quickly becoming harder and harder to find. The Dupont Shoe Repair store is probably one of the busiest shops of its kind that I have ever seen. This would be due to its friendly staff, great workmanship and great customer service. If you are in need of having your leather goods sewn or repaired, consider giving this shop your business. I don’t think that there is anything they cannot do and you won’t be sorry. Prices are reasonable as well.

I took a pair of shoes for repair and the shop had a very strong chemical smell that was apparent as soon as I opened the door. I am pregnant and even slight odors sometimes make me nauseous. I apologized to the owner as he came out from the back room and asked if I could speak to him very briefly about my shoes just outside. I explained that I was pregnant and that the smell made me feel sick to my stomach. He dropped his head and folded his arms, but he did come outside to talk with me. I could tell he was irritated and so I apologized and joked that I did not want to «throw up» all over his floor. He told me very bluntly that I could «throw up over there, then» and he pointed to the ground behind me. I couldn’t believe he would be so rude to a customer and my response was «I’m sorry?» I thought maybe he would give some sign that he was joking, but instead he went into some rant about how is offends him that people come in to his store and make negative comments about the smell. I told him again that I am pregnant and that it probably wasn’t safe for me to breathe in the chemicals in his shop. He said that it wasn’t safe for him either but that he does it every day. He then went into another rant about how his wife had several kids with «nothing special» and he mentioned something about kids not having «peanut allergies» when he was young and finally I told him that he was being rude and that I was not going to stand there and listen to that and I turned around and walked away. He yelled some comment about not caring if I left and I informed him that I was going to post something online about his «tact.» He said, «I don’t care, I don’t read stuff on the computer.» I told him, unfortunately for him, his potential customers do.
I have no comment or idea about the quality of his work, and I was disappointed to have to find another business and make another trip to get my shoes repaired, but he is one of the rudest people I have encountered in a long time.

I am in town on business and needed a new heel put on my shoe. They were so quick and helpful in my time of need! Thank you!

Got a pair of dress shoes re-​heeled here. Fast and reasonably priced. Very friendly service; this independent business has apparently been around for several years according to the news clipping on their wall.
