Crown Fried Chicken & Kabob House

Oddly enough, this place has really good vegetarian food! You’d never guess that from the name, but it’s true. They have a veggie platter for about $ 7 that includes rice and choice of 2 things — chickpeas, spinach, eggplant, pumpkin, or okra. They also have Aush soup, which is an Afghan bean and noodle soup. The chickpeas are cooked in a way like chana masala. My husband really likes the chicken kabob, and the Naan is very fresh and delicious. Overall, this is a great place for a fresh, quick, and low cost meal.
The only downside is the building at this location. Several of the windows have really large cracks like someone tried to break in or vandalize it. The interior is a bit sloppy with boxes everywhere.

Love everything from the pumpkin to the biscuits… The side spinach is really good too… Gotta always ask for extra white sauce for my naan Love the naan always fresh :)

I stopped by to purchase a turkey, egg and cheese croissant to go. Upon arriving home, I noticed the sandwich was huge, at least that is what I assumed. Well, half of it was bread with two small turkey sausage links — just enough for a half sandwich.

I’m not sure if its this one, but the guy in the pictures is the guy who serves us. Over the weekend I went to Tanger Outlets and there was a food truck with this name. Well, I have to say the chicken gyro they made was absolutely delish!!! I couldn’t believe how good it was. It left me wanting seconds. It just sucks that it didn’t come with fries or drink. I so recommend this food truck.

This place has potential. I had a lamb gyro and fries yesterday. The fries were batter dipped and tasty. The gyro was authentic and even had feta cheese. (an ingredient you typically have to go to a Greek restaurant for on the sandwich).
The gentleman behind the counter (the chef or owner perhaps) and I discussed a bit of his culinary perspective as I studied the sides while waiting on my order. I was intrigued by the label «real mashed potatoes» atop one of them. He asked me which I’d like to try.
I was shocked since most businesses are unwilling to let you «sample» anything these days unless you PAY for it FIRST, lol… ugh… lbvs.
I sampled the mash, the sauteed eggplant, the mac ‘n cheese… and the lamb curry. He asked me to rank them. I gave his eggplant and mac ’ cheese good feedback but told him his mash needed salt. The lamb was cooked perfectly tender but also underseasoned. He said he agreed, but the folks in Fort Washington «don’t like salt.» He’s gonna need to find a flavor work around then b/​c nothing is more annoying than visually appealing BLAND food. I may add another star down the road…
PS — The menu is a bit schizophrenic here, lol. They are all over the place!

I’ve had the beef bacon, Chicken & waffle, Lamb Gyro, Kabob Combo, and BLT and I must say, they are one of the best places I’ve tried. Food are on point!

Food is really tasty, I always order the salmon kebab with chickpea side and it’s always seasoned & cooked to perfection. I adore whatever the green sauce is they serve on the side — always ask for extra! Beau gets chicken kebab which he loves. He’s also tried the fried chicken and was surprised by its juicy flavorfulness.
I do think prospective customers deserve a forewarning; unless you’re ordering fried chicken or sides only, this is absolutely not fast food despite the fact that’s what it’s primarily set up to be. Beau and I have waited 20+ minutes for our carryout order before (note: manager/​owner offered a free dessert as condolence — unnecessary but greatly appreciated). No complaints from us because it’s hot and fresh but you gotta know what you’re going into otherwise you’re likely to get frustrated. Calling ahead is seemingly useless if they’re busy (when you’d most need to call ahead); there’s generally 1 kid working the counter & phone and a long line of customers waiting to be helped. On a Friday night, that hold is indefinite.
All that to say, they could certainly benefit from more staff but I wouldn’t change a thing about the food!

I ordered their salmon kabob salad and it was DELICIOUS. It was seasoned to perfection and the skin had a little crunch to it which I loved. The salad was soo big that I only could eat half of it at a time. The salad was huge and they give you 6 to 7 chucks of salmon. One of the best salmon salads I have ever had.
The service there is always pretty good. I would recommend ordering ahead of time.

Love their fried chicken and biscuits! Love that it’s Halal too!
Their customer service could improve a bit, but so can all of Fort Washington business
for that matter. They are nicer than some other places around here.

Great chicken and the biscuits are to die for the only thing I have a problem with is the wait one time I went up there and I waited nearly 15 minutes maybe even more just for my chicken to come out and biscuits. Other than that great place to go if you like some good fried chicken and southern baked biscuits

I love their eggplant dish and most of the kebabs. Except they are little slow to prepare the food, most of the time i am happy with their service.

This is really 2 restaurants in 1: Afghani and the typical Fried chicken/​waffle side. I never had the fried chicken because, well, fried chicken places abound in this part of PG county, but this is the only place for Afghani food here.
My go to is the lamb kabob house combo: (lamb kabobs, rice, 1 side, nan, and cucumber salad) and I get an order of the eggplant. The eggplant is delicious! If you like eggplant, then you have to try this. In fact, if you don’t like eggplant, you’ll start liking it after eating this. I’ve had the spinach and the chickpeas. The spinach is okay (other family members love it), but I think the chickpeas are wonderful (other family members don’t think it’s as good as I do.) Seriously folks, you can have a fine meal with the chickpeas and eggplant alone.
The lamb kabobs are juicy and well portioned. Only once did I have a dry kabob piece, but the other pieces were juicy and nicely seasoned. I’ve tasted the chicken and seekah kabobs others in my family have ordered they are good too.
One of these days I’ll try the fried chicken, but until that day the lamb kabob combo with chickpeas and an order of eggplant is number 1 in my book.

So I tried the chicken kabobs here years ago and wasn’t blown away by them. I guess that’s why I hadn’t been back in so long.
But I finally went back and tried the fried chicken which was spiced well enough not to be bland, but mine was a little overcooked. The biscuits didn’t look like much but we’re actually surprisingly soft and tasty. The mashed potatoes were just that — mashed potatoes with skin on. While I love that they left the skin on, it lacked any other flavor. The mac and cheese was, and I can’t believe I thought this — too cheesy. In all, this place is a little less than ok. It will probably be another few years before I go back.

I’m giving three stars due to the Owner taking the time out to speak to me about the Veggie options. As the cashier was rude & clearly doesn’t know how to multi task… let alone greet their customers.
I went with the Salmon Kabob that was greatly marinated & cooked perfectly over the grill. I opted for Chickpeas which was a in very delicious stew & sautéed spinach that was seasoned pretty well. I told the cashier twice no rice but she didn’t grasp the single request & gave me rice anyways… I don’t like to waste food but hey, I made my effort.
I was happy to see Ginger Ale as an option on the soda machine but not for almost $ 3 per cup. So I walked to Safeway & bought a bottle for a dollar & came back for my food.
It’s a convenient place to grab some food on the way to the Marina, but I wouldn’t make this location a priority to get food due to the horrible service.

Really, the fried chicken here is just ridiculous! It’s crispy and juicy and seasoned very well.
I usually have to wait a bit, but overall I guess it’s worth the wait.
They serve breakfast lunch and dinner. The prices are very reasonable and for as many people as I’ve seen in this place, there is ample parking.

I love this place. If you’re getting something custom you’ll have to wait awhile but it’ll be worth it.
The fried chicken is amazing, the kabobs are great and the salmon is excellent.
For sides I like the rice and spinach. Their flat bread is the best in the business bar none. My kids often want to come just for the bread.
One time in a rush we tried them for breakfast and it was also very good.
The staff is very nice and the owner is extremely down to earth and pleasant

How I heard of this place: While visiting our friend Mahnoz, my parents decided it would be lovely to invite her out for lunch. She offered either this Afghan restaurant or Safeway’s deli, and we — easily — made our decision.
Type of cuisine: Exactly what it says in the name: fried chicken and kabobs, with all the sides that you would imagine go with the two.
Ambiance: We pulled up to the shopping strip, which included a few free-​standing pavillions including this imaginative compbination of a dining establishment. The bright blue and yellow everything first caught my attention. Our party of four made our way across the blue carpet, complete with gold crown logo and restaurant name and into the fast food ambiant space. A bamboo wall forced us to make a left and go find ourselves in line for placing our orders. Looking up, I found recessed lights in black ceiling tiles, meeting up against the yellow stripe of paint that wrapped around the top third of the wall; a sandy paint followed, and the blue stripe, meeting with the blue booth benches made its way to the tiled floors. The back-​lit, bright menu boards overhead shared the menu options, but we could look to the left and see, behind the glass display, our selection of Afghani sides.
What I ordered: All four of us selected the Boneless Chicken Kabobs ($ 9.45 each) with rice and one side order. On my plate, the chicken and rice were accompanied by half-​order of each: spinach and spicy chickpeas. My mom and Mahnoz enjoyed the chickpeas and eggplant as their half-​sides, while my dad savored a full order of the spicy chickpeas. Each of our plates also included a salad of tomatoes, cucumber and onion in a minty vinaigrette, as well as a large, freshly baked, fluffy and warm Afghani pita.
What I loved: The tender chicken, the flavorful eggplant, and the spice of the chickpeas. The warm bread was a beautiful addition, though none of had the space to consume it.
Why I loved it: Middle Eastern fast food. ‘Nuff said.
Cost: Average ($ 9-​$ 10 per kabob platter)

My husband and I finally had a chance to check out CFCKH. It was well worth the trip from Virginia. 1. Chicken Kabob with rice and pumpkin: chicken was tender and juicy, rice had a little to much nutmeg for me, pumpkin had a nice combo of sweet and spicy. 2. Lamb Gyro: best I’ve had in the DMV area. 3. Fried chicken: chicken was fresh and perfectly cooked, nice blend of Cajun spices.
The only down fall of the place was that there was no AC working at the time of our visit.

First time here. Tasted pretty good.

This is my very first time at this place! A friend of mine said their chicken was good, so I decided to try it out! The chicken was good! It had a little spice to it which was unexpected but was very good!
I am not local to this area, but before we knew it, the place was packed! Clearly, the locals know something!
All in all, the chicken was good and we didn’t have to wait to long for it! I would def try it again!
