Wyndham Garden Fort Walton Beach

Overpriced for what we got. We paid about $ 260 for not even a beach view. It was the pool view. Probably $ 260 went towards the queen bed that we got which was the only thing that looked new.

I must say for $ 200 plus a night, I expected more. We had a beach view king room. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The amenities were outdated. Even La Quinta has a keurig in the room. The coffee maker was so old, I couldn’t figure out how to use it. The room was clean and we had a great view of the ocean. The ocienview was the highlight of our room. Room was too basic considering what we’re use too for that price. I was slightly disappointed. Staff Customer service was good. We dined at their restaurant for breakfast, it was ok, we tried the breakfast buffet, I wish I would have ordered from the menu maybe it would have been better and I’m not very picky at all. If I’m ever back in the area can’t say I would stay here.

This place is amazing great beach view great service but the service is really slow. I told the maintenance guy our tv wasn’t working. He came upstairs 30 minutes later. He looked at our tv. He then said he was going to call the cable guy. After that no one came back. And if you get the rooms with the full kitchen the beds are too small it cant even sleep 6.

I was pleasantly surprised with how well maintained this place was. I travel several times a year to the area for work and decided to stay here because of the low rate (November). I requested a room on a higher level and had a gulf room. I loved it! You can’t beat the view and the beach access was really nice. I just booked my next trip for the end of February and made sure to book here again! Well worth the price.

This hotel is newly renovated and very nice. The beach is phenomenal! Two very nice sized pool, free bike and DVD rentals, gym and bar and restaurants here. I would definitely recommend it! It’s a lot cheaper than the suites nearby.

This hotel is a good deal for the winter rate of $ 128+tax but I don’t think I would pay the summer rate of $ 275.
People were all friendly and the hotel could be a wonderful summer stay. The following reasons are the reasons I have to mark it down.
1. First room was only half cleaned by the housekeeping staff. Bed was stripped but that was it.
2. Wireless connection kept cutting out.
3. Hot tube was colder than the actual swimming pool.
If they can get their act together it could be a great summer stay.

I’ve stayed at many Wyndham hotels and this is well below par. Although there were a few positives, they were overshadowed at the units aging appearance and worst of all its cockroach problem. In the first 24 hrs we had killed 8 and I stopped counting after that. The first night I reached over in the middle of the night and checked my phone only to see yet another roach scurry off. I tried to downplay the issue with my daughter so it wouldn’t ruin our visit. If the room had not been waterfront with a balcony, I would have left after the first night. We made the best of it and concentrated on the beach and local activities to keep our mind off the need to go back and sleep with the roaches. I can’t recommend this hotel even with the gulf view and would recommend choosing another hotel. We won’t be going back.

I hate to give a negative review because my mother and I made our time a blast simply by being together, but I have to be honest… I was disappointed in this hotel. We just went last week, and while I understand it is December and not the heavy summer traffic season, we still were hoping for a wonderful experience.
Pros: we always felt safe, the restaurant in the hotel lobby was quite delicious and prompt, heated pools and hot tub were great, and the beds were quite comfortable.
Cons: The wifi was so inconsistent. As you went from room to pool to fitness center, the wifi was slow and you would constantly have to re-​log in.
The towels at the pool were not in stock one day for numerous hours.
Not to mention the biggest most beautiful pool at the resort was shut down for maintenance. A heads up before booking that would have been nice since the other pool is super small.
There were several broken tiles throughout the exterior of the hotel which were tripping hazards.
One treadmill was completely out of order and the other was not working well at all and would jar me as I attempted to workout.
When attempting to do laundry, I needed to make change and the front desk had no quarters. Small inconvenience, but necessary when you advertise laundry services.
The book in the room listed the times for the restaurant as 7 am to 2 pm October through April, and we arrived for lunch and they turned us away saying it closed at 11 am. Incorrect book time.
The faucet knob in our sink completely came off when we turned it one day, and the hot and cold were listed backwards.
The beach access stairs were so poorly lit at dusk that when my mom and I tried to walk out to see the moonlight, she tripped and missed two stairs.
And to top it all off, I inadvertently ran into the owner in the elevator one afternoon. He seemed friendly, asking how I was. I said, «Good, how are you?» and he responded, «Well, I’m mentally retarded but I’m doing ok.» Maybe a crude joke, but that is incredibly unprofessional and rude and I had a bad taste in my mouth about the whole place after that encounter.
I recommend going here in the summer months when it is perhaps better maintained, or find a different hotel.

Cannot recommended this place. Great location. Cheap furnishings, fixtures, rediculous for the price. A/​c wasn’t working, and had roaches in our kitchenette upon arrival. Told the front desk at check out and I was told they would «look into it». Tried to have breakfast in café, no high chairs. Went to Asiago for breakfast.

I’ll keep it as short as I can.
Pros:
Location: the gulf front view from the 4^th floor was amazing.
The bed was very comfortable and plush for a hotel.
Free DVD rentals of very current releases.
Service in the lobby was helpful and courteous.
Cons:
The sink drain didn’t drain.
The tub faucet NEVER stopped leaking. After a shower it would just leak all day/​night. No way to turn it off; noise became an issue. (My wife spilled a bit of coffee on her shirt; in a pinch we thought we’d let it soak in the tub while we were out for the afternoon. We stopped up the tub, added 2 inches of water to the basin and left. When we returned maybe 4 hours later the tub was nearly full. Just goes to show how much water was being wasted.)
The shower never got hot; you could get luke warm water at best.
Room and hotel grounds were dated; in need of a refresh.

We loved Wyndham Garden at Fort Walton Beach. Absolutely breathtaking view. We got a suite in the Dolphin Building and had an easy access down to the beach and loved the suite. It included kitchenette with some minimal kitchen stuff if you want to fix simple meals. Loved loved loved the beds. Loved having our own balcony to watch the beach any time of the day or night. Can’t wait to go back, will definitely stay here again.

Love this place. Staff is always so friendly and they go above and beyond. Rooms and pool areas are clean. Beach is awesome. Can’t wait for my next trip down. Only negative is the tile outside is really slippery when wet.

We had soooo much fun here. Nice rooms, 2 pools, fun activities for the kids. Right on the beach, and they offer free beach chairs and umbrellas for all the guests. We also enjoyed the Tiki bar by the pool, Yummy food and drinks. Also there was an awesome girl at the front desk who helped us with getting a different room that suited our needs at the time. She was very nice and accommodating. I think her name was Joanna. I’m not positive on the exact name or spelling.

If there was any issue at it was that the Wifi was on the slow side but it was Independence Day weekend and the hotel was packed so I’m making allowances.
All things considered we were very happy with our stay and would certainly stay here again.

I wish I could give this place more than 5 starts!!! The staff is AWESOME, the rooms are nice and clean, and the hotel amenities are GREAT!
Firstly, the staff is too notch! When they found out we were military, they upgraded our room, and told my husband to have a vacation he deserved! When looking for a place to eat, they had many suggestions and coupons. The hotel room, it has a regular shower and bath tub. Which is HUGE when you have young children to bathe, that’s impossible in a shower. The pools are huge, perfect temperature and the children’s slide is fun! The hotel also has beach access and really close to the pier for fishing. Def the place to stay!

Just came back from here for my birthday getaway and I must say that our room was a great space, with a nice sized balcony to sit out on overlooking the pool.
I initially was placed in a room by the elevator and quickly had that changed, the next room I was placed in was by the ice machine however the room was much better for the price I paid. The lady at the front desk Valarie was not very friendly you know kind of nice-​ty and it kind of took a bit for me not to get funky with her but Zach was super nice.
Our room was close to the beach access although we couldn’t see it but it was a beautiful view.
The establishment has two pools and the one we were by had a kids slide and they even had a movie night at the pool for the kids a few nights which I thought was great. I liked that it seemed that we were a little off the beaten path not as crowded as 6 miles down the road in Destin and I had a great time. I’m not sure if I’d stay there again because you can only use the beach chairs on beach from 9 – 5 wtf it’s still light out it could’ve at least been until 7pm, but they are free and there is free DVD movie rentals. Overall I enjoyed my stay, housekeeping was great and it was a great 5 days 4 night stay.

Two stars goes to the fact that they are located right on the beach. However the staff is rude, and unprofessional. Let me elaborate…
I arrived at 4:30pm on my date of arrival. We drove 6 hours from Orlando in a drop top 2015 Mustang and honestly, I couldn’t have been in a better mood. Sunny Florida, white sandy beaches, a fun car to drive, vacation, just got my end of year bonus from work, Hell yeah… life is good.
I spoke with Danny, Danny boy was the on duty manager at the time. As he started checking me in he laughed when he seen my request to NOT be in rooms 108 or 118 (thanks for the tips Unilocalers!), he laughed and said, «that must be due to the noise and lack of a view». No shit Sherlock. Coincidentally, they had me in 108 anyways. Hmmmm
I talked to Danny boy, and said, «Hey man, what floor are you putting me on?» He replied, «First floor.» So naturally my next question was, «Does any of those rooms have a view?» He responded with, «Nope, but you have a view of the pool facing the beach.»
With this response I simply said, «I tell you what, can you move us up to a floor with a view of the Gulf? I’ll pay you whatever the difference is» He instantly started shaking his head no. When I asked for the «Verbal» answer, he said, «No we are fully booked and we have no more rooms available.» WOW! Was my thought…
After playing through the afternoon and evening, we noticed there were many, many, many dark rooms that appeared to not be occupied. All these rooms were facing the Gulf and were MUCH nicer than the shittier, cave like rooms on the 1^st floor.
So I decided to ask one of the girls at the front desk, «Hey! Are you guys at full capacity tonight!!!» She answered, «No were not, we have plenty of rooms.» That lying turd bucket. I have no idea why he wouldn’t put us on a higher floor when I was MORE than ready to shell out a few hundred bucks extra. Shit! He could’ve pocketed the cash and just moved me!!! sorry, that was unethical I know…
The point here is that I was willing to pay more for something they had, yet were unwilling to allow me to do so.
While checking in I listened to a girl at the front desk rip a customer apart once they hung up. The customer was asking about the amenities they offer. She kept trying to refer him to the website, but he was still asking questions and it was CLEARLY irritating the living shit out of her. Once she hung up she says, «Don’t you love it when you tell someone to go online and look at the amenities, but they don’t listen and they just keep asking you stupid questions!!!» SAY WHAT!!! That’s break room talk… not front desk talk.
My wife asked Danny Boy where the Ice Machine was located. He told her, «4^th floor is the only machine». Captain Dipshit apparently forgot about the Ice Machine next to the bikes on the first floor. Nice one man…
Wi-​Fi was TERRIBLE in room 103. I called the front desk and asked if there was something wrong with the connection and she seriously told me to try connecting to «EVERY WIFI CONNECTION» I can see… there was over 10 connections from the 2^nd to the 4^th floor. I mean really!!! Did you just tell me to try EVERY SINGLE Wi-​Fi connection? That’s not the way it works dear…
None the less, we were not impressed with this place. I’ll happily pay 500+ a night somewhere else on the next trip down to get the service and view we deserve.

Great hotel will stay here again! The staff very accommodating. When we checked into our room it didn’t take long to find out it was extremely loud! The room was located on the second floor right over the pool and beside the outdoor bar. We requested a room change and the staff were so nice to move us to the 7^th floor. The room was perfect! Very quiet and decent size. The hotel had 2 pools as well as lots of free rentals. I will stay here again next time I’m in the area.

Great service, great amenities, well kept grounds! We stayed in a king suite. Actually stayed in the honeymoon suite the first night because of a mix up with the reservations. I was excited they upgraded us instead of downgrading us to correct the issue.
2 heated pools, 1 hot tub, game room, outside bar that is actually open even when the place isn’t packed. Cross over the short walk way and you are on the beach. Just ask the attendant and he will set up chairs and umbrellas for you at no cost.
What I noticed most was that the staff was all friendly and everyone seemed to really care about their hotel. I watched the staff take extra steps to make sure things were taken care of well instead of fast.
The view from the 7^th floor suites was amazing. I really can’t tell you how much time I spent on our balcony just in awe of God’s great creation. It seemed like the balconies around us also had good views. The pool areas were noisy up until 9PM and after that, they really did make sure the noise non existent, even with a cheerleader convention in town.
So about the honeymoon suite compared to a regular king suite… its the same exact room. Only difference is that the honeymoon site has a jacuzzi tub in the living room instead of a table. We actually preferred the regular king suite better. Since there is a full kitchen, with a stove and dishes, having a table is nice and way more practical than a 2 person tub. Oh and yes… there is a dishwasher for those dishes.
The only negative I can say and the only reason I’m not giving 5 stars is because the beds were VERY firm. We stayed in two different rooms and the beds were solid hard in both rooms. Granted, my bed at home is plushy. The pull out bed in the couch was exactly what you would expect, full of springs and lumpy. But because everything else was so awesome, I’d stay here again!

Wyndham Garden is a great, reasonably-​priced hotel for anyone not looking to spend an arm and a leg for a place to stay while in the FWB/​Destin area. (Note: Our stay was for Valentines’ Day weekend, so YMMV incredibly if you’re planning a visit during Spring Break or anytime between then and fall. The crowds that are typical during that time of the year were pretty much non-​existent while we were there.) The hotel is slightly off the beaten path of Miracle Strip Parkway, on Okaloosa Island, so getting there is a breeze — easy to find and to access. Parking seems to be pretty abundant as well, and judging from the various aged people walking, biking and running along the main road (Santa Rosa Blvd.) the area is rather safe.
The grounds and building seem to be kept well-​maintained. The pool area even during this time of year was immaculate, and there was no sign of trash or unmanaged wear-​and-​tear anywhere we noticed. The lobby area was extremely clean as well, with a modern decorated look.
The front desk staff was very personable and professional, and the maintenance members we passed on our way to our room were extremely polite as well. Everyone we encountered that was affiliated with the hotel (including a couple of people working to set up for a wedding on the beach) seemed to have a great attitude whether talking with patrons or working on their next project.
The hotel suite we stayed in was #609 in building B — a deluxe «room» w/​2 double beds and a balcony overlooking the Gulf, and one of the two suites directly across from the elevators on that floor and building. The suite seemed more suited for a small family vs. a couple’s one-​night stay, as it had a small kitchenette complete with a full-​sized fridge and a small stove/​oven, as well as a bedroom and living room area with dining table and (possibly fold-​out) couch. The floor plan is a bit odd in the sense that when entering the suite you’re met with a hallway, and at the end of the hallway the suite is entered to the right. On your immediate right from that point is the bedroom and on your left is a path to the remainder of the suite — bathroom (right), kitchenette (left), living room/​balcony (straight ahead). As a result of the floor plan, the bedroom is directly on the same side of the building as the entrance. And as we found out the next morning of our stay, 1) foot traffic along the breezeway can be thorough apparently, and 2) the walls to the suite (and probably others as well) seem almost paper-​thin as there was no muffling to the various activities that awoke us early the next morning — housekeeping voices and carts, other patrons going to/​from their rooms, the elevator being loaded/​unloaded, etc. Despite the noise issue though, the suite fit the bill perfectly for our stay — the fridge was a welcomed convenience, and the balcony view of the beach and Gulf made it totally worth it.
To summarize, I could see myself making another reservation here on a different occasion — we enjoyed ourselves, feel like we got our money’s worth for the suite, and didn’t come close to breaking the bank on the stay. Overall I think it’s a great option for vacationers looking for a place to lay their heads for a few days.
