This restaurant has the best Puerto Rican food in the area. Carmen, one of the owners, makes food just like my mom. All the food is fresh and most is made to order. They are now open from 5 – 8 pm for dinner!

I’m giving it 2 starts, because the empanadas were awesome. My husband and I ordered a chicken and beef empanada. However I ordered a mofongo with chicken and he ordered a pernil with rice. And this food was literally SOAKED in oil, I felt like I was chugging a container filled with oil. i could taste it and it was horrible. Later the same day I felt sick to my stomach and extremely nauseous. I had to drink some tea and natural powders to recover and detox. I am a born and raised Puerto Rican and we don’t cook with that much oil. I wanted my husband to try our traditional food, since he isn’t Puerto Rican and I think he was a little disappointed as well. Not to mention it was very salty. But I can deal with that, since our traditional food is indeed a bit salty. But yeah, I would probably not come back to this place. It did not meet my expectation whatsoever. And to learn that the owners are Mexican and Puerto Rican not full Puerto Rican makes sense as to why the food doesn’t really taste like our traditional food. I guess you are going to have to go straight to the island to get some authentic delicious Puerto Rican meals :)

Let me just say that I have been in and out of quite a few puerto rican kitchens in my day to include within my own family. Sometimes within your own culture you can quickly become the hardest critics on the food due to a) quality because it may not«seem» like your style of cooking b) the food is not«up to your standard» because you have seen what the food is supposed to look like and c) which is most important the taste is lack luster compared to what you already know about the food! I was THOROUGHLY impressed with the rice first of all. You can always tell a cook by their meat and rice(2) very important things on a puerto rican plate. I ordered the typical dish… Pernil which is pork that was reasonably priced and it included Arroz con gandules(my favorite). Both had flavor and were very delicious. Everything was cooked through. I will be coming back for more during my stay here. A must try. Take it from a true boriqua don’t mistake the hole in the wall atmosphere from its authenticity.

Did some research prior to my trip to Panama City. It’s about an hour away from Panama City Beach but worth the drive. The place is your typical hole in the wall. No frills but the food is amazing. The owners and their daughter are awesome people. Make you feel right at home. Everything I tried had authentic Puertorrican flavor. I will definitely go back before we head back to Georgia.

I would definitely come her again! The owner was so nice and accommodating, I’m a vegetarian and they made me special guacamole tacos, they were delicious! The empanadas were really good too. Really good food! They were so nice, great service and amazing homemade food.

I’m giving the place 2 stars because it’s so well reviewed that it’s possible they had a bad day when I showed up. The man who served us was the owner I think. Anyways people got there after us and ate, drank some drank, picked their teeth, joked, laughed, thumbed their noses at me and left all before I saw my food. Ordered the mofongo and also carne asada. I have never put anything more disgusting in my mouth. This is no exaggeration. It was swimming in oil and I honestly couldn’t finish it. I am by no means an expert in Puerto Rican and Cuban food. But I grew up in Brooklyn and Queens eating it on a weekly basis so my experience isn’t limited. That I’m aware of, there is no other restaurant that serves traditional Latin American/Caribbean food in the area so maybe that’s why all the hype. If this place was in south Florida or NYC, the owner would surely starve because he can’t possibly be eating that food himself. FYI, that mofongo was so oily that my wife and I got busted guts from the couple of bites we took. 2 stars because it may have been a bad day for them and I haven’t built the courage and testicular fortitude to go there and try again.

In one word: heartbreaking. First off, 5 stars is a rarity for me but this place deserves it. I was stuffed to the gills and still wanted to keep eating. The menu is now limited with 3 main options and a couple of sides as the owner decides whether she wants to retire — sadly I believe this to be the case which is why I say it’s heartbreaking. Having just moved here and finding such a gem is bittersweet. The portions are more than generous as are the hostess and owners. Our 17 mo old daughter was with us and in seeing her the owner went to the back and made a special meals just for her without request and no charge. Outstanding in every way. The food is straightforward but so perfect in what you want from it; hearty, homemade and delicous. The pork shoulder was tender, juicy and flavorful, the beans were great balance is savory and sweet and the yellow rice had lovely punches of brine from green olives snuck in there. The empanadas were crispy perfection with flavorful juicy chicken or ground beef with an olive inside and the sweet plantains were as expected as well — delicious. We will be back as many times as we can before they close, which means lunchtime during the week, 11 – 3. It looks divey but those are typically my favorite places, real good food from real people.

Really enjoyed the pork plate and epanadas. Wonderful, friendly family run restaurant. Menu on the chalkboard but will make special items if they have the ingredients.

This is a no frills family owned establishment. The food is prepared fresh and it’s «OMFG» good. You will pause between bites to think or even whisper to yourself«this is sofa king good». I had the pulled pork shoulder with rice and beans. Sweet fried plantains, the smashed style fried plantains(don’t rem the name), 1 chicken empanada & a guava filled empanada for desert. They will be closed the first 2 weeks of July. Go before they close for ever(supposedly this fall).

Soooo cute and amazing! We walked in and the owner said there was no menu and started recommending dishes to try. We started with a chicken empanada which was so fresh and delicious. Then he recommended steak and onions with mofungo and pork with beans and rice. To die for good!!! He brought us tostones to try on the house which was also delicious! It is like we were invited into his home. So welcoming and warm. They close at 3 so get there early but definitely stop by!

Went here because my Puerto Rican friend Arnold wanted some food that reminded him of the homeland. The food was great, I got the pork plate with rice and beans. The pork was super tender and rice and beans were delicious. I’d recommend this place to anyone.

Puerto Rican food is a yes from me! Was in town visiting family and found this place on Unilocal,my sister said they had been before and the food was great, she was also saying the people who own it were very friendly and eating here was like going to someones house for dinner. We had to get it to go tonight, when I called in order the guy was very nice and repeated back everything we ordered. Went to pick it up and she was not kidding about friendly! He guy working the register greeted me in Spanish(such a shame I dont speak Spanish), but he was beyond friendly and making jokes and small talk, he said his mom was in the back finishing up the order(Yea!!! Moms cooking!) A few minutes later they brought out a few boxes, he doubled checked them with me to make sure all correct. We got: Pork dinner with rice and beans, Steak dinner with rice and beans, empanadas– they had a lot of different types(beef, chicken, chicken and cheese, and others I cant remember right now), and tostones. Everything was great! The steak dinner was excellent, seasoned just right with sauteed onions and yellow rice and red beans. Also the empanadas were perfect doughy bubbly crust with savory fillings!

This is a small place, family owned. Very nice people. Great food. I got the Colombian Chorizo with beans and rice and loved it. They make a chorizo sandwich too. There is cuban too. My only complaint is because it is a small family place you cna not depend on the hours. Sometimes they are not open. Hopefully this will improve as they get more business.

This place is great«hole in the wall!» What started as a family-run food cart has transformed into a budding restaurant. The photos show the amazing food — I ate the chorizo and steak tacos(amazing!). You also know a place is good when a complete stranger next to you tells you that the place is great right after he hears it’s your first time there! Try finding that type of praise at a Denny’s! Things are low key inside, but you can’t find such warm and friendly hospitality anywhere these days — except maybe at some rural family diner that also holds fast to the principle of making your guests feel welcome. My server and new found friend warmly seated me and explained all my food questions, along with a brief history of the place. The tacos were great! I loved how simple they were(meat, cilantro, and onions plus a slice of avocado). Hard to get good tacos like these. And the corn tortillas were superb. Next time I’m in town, I’ll be returning. But until then, do us all a favor and stop by this gem for lunch or dinner! I’ll thank you for keeping them growing!

There are not many options when it comes to Puerto Rican food in this area, but regardless Rincon Boriqua does not disappoint! My husband and I have been here several times and each time we have fantastic service and food. Our only negative experience was right after they just opened, my husband ordered take out and we had an extremely long wait, but that is kind of to be expected with new businesses. Their pernil y arroz con gandules(roasted pork and yellow rice w/pigeon beans) is FANTASTIC! Their cuban sandwich is the best I’ve ever had in this area, and I could probably live off of the beef and cheese empanadas. Sometimes they even offer a pizza empanada that all pizza lovers such as myself should try! I adore their yellow rice and beans and it is a must have even when I just order a cuban sandwich. The staff is all really friendly and welcoming. If you ever have any questions they are quick to answer and explain. Absolutely love this place! One of my favorites in town!

La comida es deliciosa. Es como estar en Puerto Rico en casa de tu Abuela comiendo tus platos auténticos favoritos. El relleno de papa… Como para chuparse los dedos y repetir

Very good. should have found this place days ago… Too bad we have to go back to California. it’s a family owned and operated small place. The food is very good. it’s a mix between Puerto Rican/Mexican. The pork is very tasty, if it’s not on the menu he’ll make it for you. don’t let the outside fool you… Home cooking at its best… don’t go to one of the food chains to get latin food.
