Beth’s Alterations & Repairs

Stopped by Beth’s for a dress alteration, located along the main business district of Ft. Thomas. Upon entering, I read over the prices on the poster inside the door. The cost was higher than expected, but I thought I’d inquire further since the shop is conveniently in my neighborhood. I explained that I needed a bridesmaid dress hemmed for a summer wedding.
How long would this take? Two months!
It’s great that Beth’s is popular enough to attract so much business, but it convinced me I needed to take my dress elsewhere. The wait would come awfully close to the date of the wedding; I didn’t want to be picking up the dress last-​minute.

Needing a zipper repair for a skirt, I decided to try a local alteration shop, even though my dry cleaner’s provides the service. This shop is in the retail area of Ft. Thomas, near other small shops, professional offices, and almost directly across from Warner’s Restaurant.
I was able to find street parking easily and it was free for two hours; I needed only minutes. Not sure if she’s Beth, but the owner/​manager greeted me and explained that she would use a different type of zipper when she replaced it. Fine with me; the original one broke on the first wearing and all I can do is hem a pair of pants! She said the skirt would be ready in a week.
An employee called to tell me my item was ready and also told me the cost and that I should bring cash or check; no credit cards taken here! I thought it was a little expensive ($ 13) for just a zipper, but if I had noticed when I dropped it off, the prices are handwritten on a poster inside the door.
The quality of work seems ok.
