While cycling the Erie Canal path from Syracuse to Albany we stayed overnight at «A White Rose Bed and Breakfast» in Fort Plain, NY. Getting to the White Rose from the canal path was easy, it was a short ride south through the village. The owner was very accommodating, having us put our bikes inside the barn at the back of the house for safe keeping overnight. The room was very clean, comfortable. We had one of the rooms that shared the bathroom in the hall, but it was setup well for use by more that one room. We easily walked back to the village for dinner at The Table Restaurant, which was really good. When we got back from dinner we arranged for breakfast at 8AM, which fit our schedule for the final leg of the trip. Overnight it was extremely quiet in the house. Breakfast the next morning was really good and filling. We ended up not having to stop for lunch on our way to Albany. «A White Rose Bed and Breakfast» was a great place to stay and we would not hesitate to stay there again.

Highly recommend if for some reason you are in Fort Plain, NY. Melissa, the proprietor, was very welcoming, hospitable, and helpful. I had forgotten to print tickets to Saratoga for the Whitney and she let us use her printer. Accommodations were both very comfortable and beautiful with an amazing bed frame made by the local Amish. The breakfast was delightful consisting of fresh peaches and cream, delicious blueberry pancakes and steaming hot coffee. Very homey feel to the living room. Would definitely stay again as the price was more than fair. We were just there as a layover between Cooperstown and Saratoga. The town of Fort Plain seemed past it’s prime so wouldn’t go there as a destination, but A White Rose came up roses as a very relaxing place to stay between two points.

This bed and breakfast was as wholesome as the small town it’s in. I have never stayed in a bed and breakfast before so I had a lot of questions and a few worries. I am so glad to have stayed at A White Rose Bed & Breakfast for my first b&b experience. I’m from Southern California so I am used to big cities and apartments, so this was a completely different experience for me. My sister and I stayed in the Asian inspired room and it was very comfortable. The style of each room was very different and very aesthetically pleasing. I thought that staying in a stranger’s home for a couple days was weird, but by the end of the trip, I felt like part of the family. In the mornings, Melissa, the hostess/innkeeper, would prepare a delicious and fresh breakfast, with all the ingredients straight from her backyard. We stayed in the summer to attend Glimmerglass Opera so the drive was close and easy from Fort Plain. Overall, this experience was fantastic. I felt very comfortable here at A White Rose and, not to mention, that the whole house was unbelievably beautiful and cozy. Would definitely stay here anytime I travel to Upstate New York!

Just spent two nights here while attending Glimmerglass Opera. Great place. Bedroom was nicely appointed, clean, neat and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent both mornings. Trip to Glimmerglass and into Cooperstown easy.

We really enjoyed our stay at the White Rose B&B. The house and rooms were very clean, cozy and everything was in great condition. We stayed with 2 other couples, so I got to see 3 rooms. Each was furnished /decorated quite differently, which was interesting. Our room had an Asian theme, another was very rustic and the other Victorian. The breakfast was tasty. There was fresh fruit, yogurt, an egg dish and a blueberry pastry. There is a nice deck outback to sit on, which was very peaceful and relaxing. We were biking through the area and there was plenty of room to store our bikes in the garage.
