Boston Red Sox Baseball City of Palms Park

This place has fantastic character and charm for a spring training ballpark. There isn’t a bad seat in the house, including the lawn and the beer garden in the outfield. I wouldn’t recommend the standing room only tickets though, because you’ll probably move all around the stadium.
I’ve just watched my first two games here, and I’m honestly a little sad to see that it won’t be used by the Red Sox anymore after the new «Fenway South» is opened in 2012. Pretty much all of the games in this stadium sell out though, and the new stadium will have 11,000+ seats.
I guess City of Palms Park can’t compete with a brand new ballpark with its own Green Monster, but I’ll be sad to see this gem go. I do hope they bust out the Fenway Franks at the new ballpark though… just isn’t a Red Sox game without it!

With the new Red Sox spring training ballpark being built, it’ll be sort of sad to see what happens to the City of Palms park because it’s quite nice! Out in front they’ve got a statue of Ted Williams, inside the park there’s plenty of room to stroll around to get your concessions and hit the bathroom. But of course the most important part is the field!
Given City of Palms Park only seats 8,000 people, ALL the seats are good and you’ve got those swaying palm trees past the outfield wall to remind you you’re in Florida. Access and egress from the seats to the concessions is not bad but could be better. The staff is pretty friendly and polite even though many (I would guess) are native New Englanders but I’m guessing they’re happier in the sunshine! Overall a great little ballpark, perfect on a nice day. The only reason I’m not giving it five stars is because I’m so used to the AWESOME Durham Bulls ballpark which is amazingly good. But don’t worry, you’ll have a great time at City of Palms watching your Sox for the spring season…

Great baseball experience for the seasoned fan, novice or children. I had very good seats in the shade behind 1^st base, but when I realized that I could stand in the SRO section behind homeplate I stayed there for about 4 innings. After the game they invite the children under 14 to run the bases. See you next year, I am definately coming back.

A great little park that peaks at around 8000 people.
We sat in the bleachers for two games and although that view is not the best, the people are super relaxed. Even the ushers, who must be retired old men are a lot of fun. I noticed that the closer one gets to home plate the crabbier the people get, including the ushers. The senior citizen, season ticket holders will push you out of the way. It’s as if I was pissing on their lawn or something???
One of the highlights is the «Hot Dog Sergeant». You can’t miss this guy. He screams at the fans and tells them to not be afraid of the hot dog. Nathans or Oscar Myers should hire this guy.

I look forward to going to this «Fenway of the South» every March because really, what more could you ask for? Vacation, warm weather when it is cold & snowing up north, and of course the sox! Looove this ballpark.

One of the most beautiful minor league baseball parks I have ever seen. The park looks like a mini major league park, all new and fresh. The palms line the outfield in such a nice, neat way.
Because the players are also in fun mode you can go and get autographs, pictures, the works with smiles and happy expressions. It’s all so relaxed.
However it ain’t cheap. The food and merchandise prices are major league level, especially when the Yankees come into town, but you can purchase game tickets for a quarter of Fenway. All in all, a great, warm place to be in March. Come on over to Ft Myers ya’ll, I have rentals to rent you.

Yes! I’m psyched to be the first to review the Sox Spring Training park. We come down each March for a week to visit family. Our main goals on this vacation are to hang w/​the fam, hit the beach, get sun, and, most importantly, watch baseball.
The team at this point is in full-​on practice mode, and the atmosphere around the park is generally relaxed. The players come out to sign autographs, talk with the fans, toss the ball around in the outfield while the game is going on, etc. You can watch them take batting practice in the cages, and stand right above the entryway to the clubhouse. If you arrive at the park early enough, you can see the players arriving for the games (we do this on Yankees game days, to get tickets early). Their families are all there, the wives and kids usually playing over by the practice field.
The prices here for food and drink are the same as at Fenway, don’t be fooled. But game tickets are significantly cheaper. It’s a much smaller field, and makes for a more intimate setting.
This is an amazing experience, and one we won’t soon be foregoing.
