Through educational programs and traveling exhibits, Art of the Olympians (AOTO) celebrates the Olympic Games and tells the unique stories of Olympic competitors and competitions; shares the ideals of whole body living — excellence in mind, body and spirit; provides a look at Olympic history; and showcases the importance of arts, sport and culture and connect individuals with Olympians.

History

Established in 2005.

Art of the Olympians Museum and Gallery is a global learning center founded and supported by Olympians dedicated to promoting Olympic ideals and a spirit of corporation to inspire individuals to achieve personal excellence.

The organization was founded by four-​time, consecutive Olympic gold medalist in discus, Al Oerter. Through an exhibition of art, Al united a number of Olympians to raise awareness of the importance of the the Olympics ideals and the sport/​art relationship. What started with one man’s vision grew into a traveling exhibition of eight Olympian Artists and has since developed into an educational center with a family of more than 50 international Olympian Artists focusing on Olympic ideals.

Though headquartered in Fort Myers, Fla., the museum has a global reach through programs and traveling exhibits which celebrates the Olympic Games and tell the unique stories of Olympic competitors and competitions; shares the ideals of excellence.

Bob Beamon, CEO

Olympic gold medalist and record-​breaking track and field star, Bob Beamon, serves as chief executive officer for Art of the Olympians Museum and Gallery at the Al Oerter Center for Excellence, home of Olympic sports and arts.

A 1968 Olympic gold medalist, businessman, philanthropist and author, Beamon is best known for his long-​standing world record in the long jump at the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico, which remained unchallenged for 23 years. He has since been elected into both the U.S.A. Track & Field and U.S. Olympic hall of fame.
