Perfect recreation area for military friends and families. Peaceful and mostly fun when camping in a tent! If you’re going to camp in a cabin you ain’t doing it right. You’re suppose to be outdoors getting in touch with the wildlife. Also, great for fishing and swimming at the pool. Staff is friendly and welcoming and very attentive.

This was by far one of the best campgrounds I have stayed at. Located just outside of the Ft. Benning Maneuvers of Excellence Base, it is nestled away in the woods and a great testament of the fabulous facilities offered by the US Army as part of the Morale, Wellness, Recreation programs. There were easily over 200 sites, the vast majority have full hook ups with 30 and 50 amp service. The sites were well separated and the deeper you went into the campground the wider the spaces between sites. There were also plenty of cabins — three different flavors — small, medium, large, for those who like the outdoors without roughing it too much. The rustic camping area was also the most rustic I have ever witnessed. I couldn’t imagine spending an evening in that area, but if you truly like to camp with just your supplies and a tent, then this is the place for you. Amenities were plenty — long, scenic trails, playgrounds, a pool, a marina, a well stocked camp store, friendly staff, and a well kept campground. It just doesn’t get any better. The only catch is that you have to either be DoD, active duty or retired from the armed forces, or be a family member of someone in the armed forces who is staying there with you. If you can meet those criteria, then I highly suggest hooking up your home on wheels and spending sometime in the backwoods of Georgia.
