Vans R Us

This place is so unprofessional. I don’t think they give crap about other people’s business. Before reading the review by Jamie, I was upset I didn’t get the vans I reserved. But I’m thankful I didn’t get the vans.
I had to borrow 2 vans for upcoming company event. I literally called them almost every day for the whole one week probably 2 weeks prior to the renting date. I wanted to make sure I’m bringing the right documents and to make sure I get the vans. I made reservation with cc authorization form and they said I don’t have to worry about renting the vans. Even on the day before the renting date.
My coworkers went in to get the vans the next day and they said they don’t have any van for us. Apparently the vans which were supposed to be return that day did not get returned. Customers called in to extend the dates and I guess they let that happen.
Like the other review, to be fair, when we were conversing back and forth with phone calls, he was nice and helpful and I guess some things are uncontrollable. But what’s the purpose of reserving the vans when there’s no guarantee that you would be getting the vans? It’s just sad to see people doing business like this. They should be more prepared and this shows that they are not professional. If you are planning something important, go somewhere legit even if you have to pay a little extra. It’s not worth it.

I rented a van for a business trip and had difficulties from start to finish…
1) never mentioned during several pre-​rental phone calls that the person renting the van needs to have insurance doc’s in their name. The reasoning for this was later explained, but was extremely problematic since it wasn’t initially disclosed and almost left my group stranded.
2) gave me the wrong van and proceeded to call my group when we were over a 150 miles away demanding we immediately return it to their office. Informed them that wasn’t possible, and they told us that if we get pulled over we may be in trouble with the police since we have the wrong vehicle.
3) when van was returned they claim we stained the interior which I disagreed with. They refused to even discuss stating the van was brand new and I was the first person to rent it. The pre-​check only included the exterior of the van, even though I later discovered I initialed that I inspected the interior
4) charged my credit card for the damage, but refused to provide me a receipt.
5) after calling to discuss, they told me they would issue me a credit, but failed to.
6) after another call, the manager explained that the first representative didn’t realize that the additional charges were for cleaning, and they would not refund my card. He finally did provide me a receipt.
7) over a month later the manager sent me an email requesting I make updates to my initial review (which are included above, but was accurate at the time I wrote it) and threatened legal action if I do not. In that email, he now states that I was the second person to rent the van, not the first as they repeatedly claimed the reason they knew my group caused the stain.
To be completely fair to Vans R Us, I will state that the initial conversations I had on the phone prior to the rental were very pleasant and I liked that they did not charge a deposit. The van we rented was very clean.
The main issue I have with Vans R Us are the inconsistencies and errors that they made without ever acknowledging they were possible or apologizing for them. My complaints are not the cleaning fees they charged, but the poor service I received. In the manager’s email to me, he simply could of apologized that I had a bad experience and requested I update my review, but instead he threatened legal action.
