Primp & Play

Okay I am really annoyed and I haven’t even been here! Made an appointment for today one week ago, gave them my card information. I called to confirm today and was told my appointment was next Thursday! I explicitly told the person I originally spoke to that I needed to come this week because I would be out of town. Stayed home from work to bring the Poo in today! We made the appointment for today!
No attempt from the girl I just spoke to resolve the issue to accommodate my needs… just okay and cancel! So that’s how it works okay… well Primp and Play you’re cancelled!

I can’t thank this daycare and its staff enough for the countless hours of happiness they’ve provided for my dogs.
We are no longer able to use their services because we are moving. Excited for the move, bummed I can’t take this daycare with me.
Lenny and the staff have continuously set the bar higher since we started coming here. All I can say is that the next daycare has enormous shoes to fill.

The dog groomer was great.

Love this place! Took my 4 year old shih-​poo today at 11am and the groomer was outside with her adorable shih-​tzu (cutest diva ever) and greeting sparky by his name upon arriving. She welcomed him and called him to make him comfortable (while he hid behind my legs) she asked how I would like the cut and I handed him over and got a call about an hour later (FYI dogs are by appointment and not held in cages for their turn to provide a «relaxing atmosphere») sparky came out super excited and at ease. Not to mention totally adorable and smelled divine! His cut was perfect, he was fluffed and you could tell she took her time and takes pride in her work. I will most definitely be returning and I’m sure my dog will want to as well! I def recommend. Prices are very reasonable as well. Worth the travel from nyc (right off the bridge– 12 min walk)

I must start by saying that I never Unilocal any business, however this experience has left me disgusted and angry about how I was treated. There is one man here that is less than professional, rude and plain old disrespectful and the crazy thing is I didn’t even meet him. I made the appointment over the phone with a lovely young lady that answered. On the day of the appointment I had someone else drop of my dog. Since my schedule is hectic and I am a working professional I expected to receive great service which I must say I did not. My dog was dropped off at around 1pm I was not going to be able to pick up the dog until later on that day. I was called several times by a man whom I will not call a gentleman because that he was truly not and I was told that I had to pick up my dog because for a grooming they cannot keep the dog there all day and that next time they would have to charge me for boarding. I will assure you there will not be a next time. This was the first and last time I will use them for anything.
Had I been spoken to like a person maybe I would have considered going back however the man that spoke with me spoke to me as if I was trash. Not even a dog would deserve to be spoken to in this manner. Had he called me and politely informed me, Hey unfortunately we cannot keep the dog here for an extended period of time for whatever reason and please be sure to pick her up with an hour or two after grooming then I would have understood. He had a nasty tone in his voice as if my business meant nothing to him. If your business is one that requires a person to sit and wait while their dog is getting groom then you say so. When I spoke with the young lady over the phone I set the appointment and asked her what time they close because I knew the dog was not going to be picked up within an hour which seems to be their deadline. If this is the case you tell someone up front what they are in for and not call them harassing them after the fact. Not once prior to bringing the dog in was I informed that I have to wait for my dog.
I must say that being in the high end luxury automobile business I would never think about speaking with a client in the tone of voice or in the manner that I was spoken to.
I have in the past taken my dog to NY puppy club in Edgewater. I must say that they know more about professionalism. I will drop the dog off there and never get harassing phone calls telling me that I need to pick up my dog. Since I needed to quickly get my dog groomed I figured I would try this place and what a mistake that was.
I don’t just look for a groomer. I look for a place that I can continue to business with and where I feel welcomed. In the past I have not just dropped my dog off for grooming but I spend a good amount of money on other things. When I picked up my dog in the past I would leave the grooming place and ended up spending up to $ 300 or more. So with that being said it is not just a grooming.
I wish you the best of luck whoever you are but I will not do business with this place again.

Lenny, Vu, and the rest of the staff here is fantastic. They are the only people I entrust my darling doggies with. They offer day boarding, over night, extended stay, and a wide variety of grooming services too. They are the best!

My husband and I were looking for a trainer to help us properly manage 8 month old lab mix at the time. That was when we first came across P&P and met with Lenny. Lenny was great with our dog and taught us to be patient with our dog and to not give in. Lenny took his time with us teaching us how to properly train our dog.
After the training session with Lenny, we decided to bring our dog for daycare. I could see that she was having a great time at daycare since P&P has cameras installed in all the rooms where your dog would be roaming around. I could see my dog running and playing with the other dogs. She looked like she was having a blast and she still does to this day when she’s at P&P for daycare.
We’ve also boarded and had grooming services done for our dog and have to say that all of the services provided at P&P are great. The staff is always friendly and you can see that they also love working with all the dogs there.
If you live in the area and have a dog, you should definitely check out P&P for any and all of the services provided.

LOVELY place! I have been going here since they opened. I travel all the way from midtown Manhattan to come here for my dog’s grooming.
My groomer there, Mosako is the nicest person ever. But first and foremost, she is THE BEST at grooming. I am never let down. She gives my Keri the best haircut ever and she knows exactly what I want and delivers each time which shows she takes great direction. My mom and her pup Mocci, come here as well!
Lenny there is also very awesome, he is a trainer as well and can come to your home if you prefer.
Please consider to come here, you won’t be disappointed, promise!!!

I’m very thankful for the previous reviews because I was very nervous boarding my dog for the first time! They were pleasant and put me at ease when I saw how they interacted with not only my dog but the others as well. They were firm but kind.

Best in the area!!! Best groomers and service. They take good care of my dog and they are the only salon I trust. My puppy always looks beautiful after she leaves Primp and Play! :)))

My wife and I needed someone to watch our two lap dogs (Gizmo and Snoops) while we were in Virginia for Labor day weekend. We remembered that PnP provided boarding so we called them up and were pleased to find out that they provide a discount for two dogs. BONUS!
When we dropped the boys off, they asked us about food allergies and any diet restrictions. I think they ate better there than they do at home.
I definitely recommend this place for boarding and grooming. Make sure to make an appointment instead of just walking in for grooming

We have a nine month old Catahoula, Molly, who is a working dog. The breed is known for cattle herding. As a result, it’s hard to get her enough exercise to keep her from getting frustrated at home and acting out, which usually means chewing on furniture, shoes, coats, or anything she can get her teeth on.
We have a number of friends who send their dogs to Primp and Play so they came very highly recommended. I can gladly add my voice to all the praise we heard about them. Since our puppy has been going to P&P their has been a noticeable difference in her behavior and she has not acted out once! She comes home exhausted and happy every day. She’s a very happy puppy!
Lenny, Vu and all the staff are very nice, helpful and available. The webcam is a great addition and we can watch her play all day. It’s actually more interesting than any show on TV, to watch all the dogs playing and having a great time. The pre-​screening of dogs for health conditions adds another layer of comfort to the overall experience.
I highly recommend Primp and Play and am very happy that we found them for Molly. It’s like a party all day every day, with a chaperone. The dogs are never left alone and someone is always watching to make sure the play is safe and fun.

I treat my dog like he is my baby. I have never had him come back from play time with any bad habits. I also take him for grooming at Primp and Play, and the groomer is absolutely amazing. You can tell she definitely cares about her job and loves the dogs. The first time I took my pup there for play time, I was worried about him being overwhelmed by the other dogs as he is a little guy (weighing in at 7lbs). Lenny and his staff immediately put my mind at ease with the gentle way they handle all the dogs. You can really tell they always have control of the situation and are able to keep the dogs calm and submissive, while still allowing them to romp and play. This is a really great place to leave your dog. I always have peace of mind when my little Waldo is there!

We have 2 Yorkies who were badly in need of in-​home training. Lenny came in to our home and the results of his methods have far exceeded our expectations. Our dogs were running the show at home and driving us crazy in the process. Lenny devised a brilliant, personalized plan for our situation to get the dogs under control, He spent a good deal of time working with the dogs as well as individual family members.
His plan is working like a charm for us, and now the Yorkies behave like good little doggies, as they should. Needless to say, we are very grateful because our entire family is much happier now!

I took my little Elvis in for a grooming after having bad experiences elsewhere. For the first time, he left happy and was back to normal by the next morning. What ever she did, it was a wonderful experience for both Elvis and myself! Thank you Primp and Play!

I came to Primp and play just to try it out since my dog, Nala, has been to many different places and was pleasantly surprised to see Lenny there. Lenny was at the very first doggy day care Nala ever went to as a pup and I remember him being super patient with me, giving me tons of advice and information when I was a nervous first time dog owner. Although we hadn’t seen him in quite a few years, as soon as he saw us he remembered us~! He remembers Nala gets very nervous every time we come and takes particular attention to her. The other staff members are very attentive and nice as well!
Although at first the facility seemed small, I realized that there is also a back room where the dogs can roam.

I’m a very particular dog owner who is hard to get pleased and hard to give trust who runs pet businesses. My vet recommended this place, I tried this place with doubt and curiosity. I’ve been dropping my dogs here for day care on a regular basis for the last 6 months.
I have two small dogs with some personality issues. Lenny, the owner is also the dog trainer helped me to fix some of my dog’s issues. He offers personal in-​home training. When he does in-​home training, he doesn’t rush with time. He is very patient and very good teacher. Even just one session helped me to acknowledge what the problem was with my dogs. He taught me consistency is very important and also taught me how not to be taken advantage of by my dogs. There’s still a long way to go but the start wasn’t that bad.
Other than Lenny at the day care, there are few more employees that care for the dogs. I’m always happy with them also. Facility is small but always clean, has several indoor spaces and outdoor spaces. While dogs are in day care, you can watch them through their webcam as well. I don’t need to worry about my dogs while I’m doing daily errands, dogs can learn how to socialized with other ones. I’m so glad I found this place and Lenny.

Being new to the neighborhood, I’ve been looking for a clean, reliable, and friendly place that we trust to board my dog Pepper and give her a place to play. Like any doggy Mommy, I’m very protective of her and careful about who I give her to. Here are my thoughts on each category:
Staff: They are friendly and seem to know a lot about animal care. They are also very friendly to humans as well.
Play Space: They have an indoor and outdoor place space which is a nice thing to have, but I just wish it was larger. I don’t think that’s necessarily their «fault,» just not ideal to me especially coming from the midwest where dogs have so much space.
Cleanliness: Floors are clean and messes are cleaned up right away and very minimal smell which tells me they maintain the place routinely.
Boarding: Their cages are reasonable and let you bring your own cushions if you want
I have not done any grooming with them, but I am assuming with the small, intimate and caring staff, they will do a good job.

Our Amy LOVES going to Primp and Play. We normally drop her off on Tuesdays and Thursdays before we go to work and pick her up after we have dinner. When we take her out, she would always wait by the door leading to the garage. And when we bring her around to the elevator instead of going towards the car, she gets really disappointed.
Our dog is a border collie mix and that means she has VERY high energy. Even if she plays with us outside for the whole day she still wants more. But when she comes back from Primp and Play we know she gets plenty of play because she’s exhausted and goes straight to bed when she comes in. The place isn’t that spacious as one would hope but if a border collie is pooped after a play day there, that says something.
Amy is a rescue dog and she came with socialization problems. At first she was terrified of even going outside of fear that she might run into another dog which would be almost everything (we live in a pet friendly apartment complex). It has gotten better since then, but she would still refuse to move if she sees another dog. We started taking her to Overpeck dog park but that just didn’t do the trick.
After doing a lot of research of good doggy day cares, we decided on Primp & Play. After 2 visits, Amy has been going up to other big dogs and saying hi first. We were so happy that we didn’t know what to do with ourselves. She is still going to Primp & Play and we have recently gotten private lessons with Lenny.
Lenny is really firm but gentle with Amy and she really does listen to him. He really knows what he’s doing and taught us how we should practice with her.
The doggy daycare has a surveillance feed that you can log into and actually see how well your dog is doing with other dogs which I think is awesome. Lenny also uploads pictures and videos to the facebook website so I get to see more of my dog. It’s really reassuring that I know my dog is in good hands while I’m at work. We’re planning on having Amy stay over at Primp & Play while we go into the city for the night. We hope it’ll be a great experience for her and a lot of play!
But I do have to mention, parking to drop off/​pick up your dog can be quite a pain in the butt. Especially when there’s a lot of snow
Overall, I’m still really pleased with our experience here and Amy will continue to go for day care :)

I’m not easily pleased with doggy care centers, but rest assured, Primp & Play alleviates the stress of worrying about little furball, Mochi– especially considering he has some seriously exaggerated separation anxiety. I left him here for almost a week. People who work here are dedicated in being attentive towards personal needs and concerns, and although my mom dropped him off, she’s even harder to please– and even she was quite satisfied with the quality of service. I know how important online reviews are these days, so I thought I’d take the time to let those who have beloved furry family members in need to know that PetSmart is– not only a wallet raping monopoly– but also pales in comparison.
