Joseph Mauriello, DDS

I had a crown done by Dr. Mauriello. He cut my cheek with the drill as he prepared my molar, and then left a gap in between the crown and the tooth. It had to be redone only a year later.

Office is extremely clean and everyone is friendly! Surgeons are great and staff is very helpful and informative! You really feel like you’ve developed a rapport with them as well as your teeth and gums being taken care of!

Office is super clean! Staff is super friendly! And VERY accommodating to my crazy work schedule! I feel like they should hate me half the time, but they’ve been nothing but nice. Had a deep cleaning by Dr George, and minor cavities filled by Dr. Vivian, and since I hate novocaine and overall needles in my mouth, I asked for the topical anesthetic used in regular cleanings instead. (I know, I’m stupid.) And they were more than happy to do so, and reapply every so often during both sessions! Didn’t hurt one bit either! Thanks, team!!!

My family and I have been seeing Dr. Mauriello for a few years. Dr. Mauriello is a rare find in the medical profession. He is both competent and caring. He, along with his staff, creates a wonderful atmosphere. From the minute you walk in the door, you are treated to a warm welcome and immediately made to feel at ease. The staff knows each patient, and recalls key details of prior visits so that one truly feels well cared for. His secretary is more than accommodating to find appointment dates and times that are convenient. I have needed several procedures over the years including root canals, crowns and an extraction and Dr. Mauriello always made sure that I understand exactly what is happening and that I am comfortable at all times. Thanks to Dr. Mauriello I have excellent oral health and I get so many compliments on my million dollar smile.

I went to this dentist almost 3 years ago with a crippling toothache, when I was in NJ for a vacation, and it turned out I needed a root canal. He was the first dentist I could find online and I had read one decent review. He seemed confident about doing root canals, said he did several every day, and began the procedure right away. He was nice and friendly, although I found that he got rather impatient as the procedure wore on (it was for a lower molar and fairly complicated). After the root canal was done, I noticed some pain when the dentist rubbed the gum around the tooth/​root, but he dismissed the problem (he didn’t seem to think it out of the ordinary), prescribed antibiotics, and sent me on my way. A few months later when I was back home, I was still noticing a mild pain/​discomfort, so my usual dentist took an x-​ray when i went for a check-​up. He said there was an infection by the root of that tooth, but that it was hard to tell at this point whether it was the previous infection getting better, or if it was healing. I forgot about it for over a year, but when I next went for a check-​up, the x-​ray showed that the infection was getting worse. This meant that I would need to get a root canal re-​treatment (basically doing the root canal all over again — read: expensive and uncomfortable and stressful), and if that did not work, getting a root end surgery (apicoectomy). I was living overseas at this point, which added to the stress, but I managed to find an english-​speaking endondontist in France who re-​did the root canal. It took much longer this time, he used a microscope (which Dr. Mauriello had not done, if I recall correctly), and he said that the problem could have arisen if the first doctor had not properly disinfected all the canals during the initial root canal. This must have been the case, because four months later, I went for a check-​up and it seems that the infection (or rather, the inflammation caused by the infection) is slowly getting better.
Dr. Mauriello may be fine for the usual procedures, but if you need a root canal, I would advise finding an endodontist who will do a more careful job.
