Bonchon

We arrived an hour before closing — the place as a tiny shop next to a pizza shop. The chicken was either spicy or soy garlic and either wings, breasts or thighs (we got both in wing form) and added on veggie dumplings.
The crispy skin was good, the chicken was juicy, but we just weren’t wowed. It was just Good.
not a bad place if you were having a wing attack.

Much like several have said, place is not as good as boom boom chicken on main street. Maybe i was nit as lucky, but definately would not high rate a place that is hit or miss. I ordered half mild half spicy, bith were dry, stringy, refried perhaps, because it didnt take too long to come out. Kimchi was great, chicken was bot bad, just not great. Staff was nice so extra for that.

It’s BonChon Chicken for chicken’s sake! From what i know the birth-​baby of KFC (Korean Fried Chicken). I’ve had a few pieces before but this day were took home boxes and I was ready to DIG IN! When I finally sank my teeth into these, it wasn’t what I remembered. Something felt like it was missing…
I remember recently I’ve been getting my KFC from another place around this area and it’s hard to live up to that now. Maybe I will give BonChon another shot some other time.

BonChon chicken wings are the best wings in town if you love chicken wings! I go here once a week I love the chicken wings amazing especially the hot ones so good I would recommend this place for anybody to go if you love chicken wings also the atmosphere is like a bar like and the music is awesome!

Still yummy. Hot wings weren’t that spicy and flavorwise were indistinguishable from the soy wings. Service unfriendly. There are better places out there.

the place in the city is a bit more «happening». Here it feels more like a fast food take out (which I guess it is) and by the time I brought it home it was already cold and soggy. Chicken was still good though, so no complaints.

Firstly, I want to say my opinions about Korean food are reflective more of authentic Korean rather than fusion Asian as I was born there and raised there.
Honestly, I would’ve given it a 3.5 just for the food, but the terrible service and no delivery were too big to deserve it a 4. For Koreans, fried chicken is the epitome of delivery food, and as pretty much all other fried chicken places in the area offer FREE delivery, it’s a bit of a turnoff for BonChon to not offer it. Also, when my husband called to order, the lady was SUPER mean and a bit demeaning too. When we arrived at the store to pick-​up, we had to wait about 10 minutes even though we called 40 minutes earlier, which I think is what they asked you do. The lady (who seemed like the owner) wasn’t even apologetic about it. Just rude the entire time. Not even a trace of good business manners.
As for the food itself, we ordered the half mild/​half spicy of the large wings+drumsticks. Good portion. It came with pickled radishes. Typical – done right, but not special. The highlight was the sauce. I liked the spicy ones; my husband the mild. If you can’t take heat, I would recommend the mild. The chicken, though, was quite dry.
Overall, I would order again only if I really wanted to taste the spicy sauce again. But besides that, no delivery, horrible manners of the owner, dry chicken… Not a satisfactory experience.

Decided to bring my mom here for a casual brunch. Came to find that it was mostly a take-​out establishment, but they had a dining area with a few tables in front at which we ate. While waiting for our order (20 wings, fries, sweet potato, and radish), I found that majority of their business was from customers calling ahead and picking up. Our order was ready in about 20 – 25 minutes, but it was definitely worth the wait. Wings were crispy and a decent size. Fries had a nice seasoning as did the sweet potato. The radish was also sweet yet refreshing. Been to other Bön Chons before but they were sit-​downs. Nice to know one where I can just call in, grab and go.

We all have vices: mine is Korean fried chicken. I like this location better than Leonia’s: the chicken seem to be meatier and fresher (and mind you, I picked up my order at 9:45 p.m. on a Sunday night! Yes, some cravings need to be met.). Fancy door handle; nice owners.

How is it that I never reviewed this place? This is my favorite BonChon. Anytime I’m in NJ, I pick up a couple of boxes. I was a bit worried about some of the recent reviews that the place changed, but I just ordered this weekend and it was great. They do takeout really well. They package the boxes in a way to let all of the steam out and the chicken stays as crispy as possible. I love the boneless option they have, too, where they serve nice slices of breast meat… not whole breast meat, sliced. I call it a meat cracker and it’s crunchy on the outside and still tender on the inside.

Decreased quality + increased price = no thanks. There’s sooooo many chicken places especially in and around my neighborhood. The chicken+beer combination is godsend to Koreans– it’s like the Japanese ramen hype, only more unhealthy.
I’m not a fan of fried food, so if there’s even a small trace of old oil, I’ll refuse to have whatever has been re-​fried in my mouth. I can’t say for certain that they were using old oil, but it certainly wasn’t as good a grade of oil or fresh as it used to be.
There was not much meat on the chicken– I feel guilty singling out chicken as the only meat I’ll eat. They’re cute too. So can you at least not remind me that the chicken might’ve also suffered from starvation, too?
The sweet pickled radish tasted more or less how it should, but you really can’t do that one wrong. Vinegar + water + boatloads of sugar. Anyway, competition is so fierce that this place isn’t gonna be getting a callback from my family for a reorder. I’d rather go with boom boom. I’m so over you, BonChon.

Can’t believe I just found about this place they made me love chicken again I will be coming back for years to come I can’t get enough of it love there hot and spicy wings today tried zucchini fries also loved them also.

Okay so I’ve been to this place a few times. I always likes their boneless wings. I will not being going back because the food is not good enough to forget the horrible service.
The Korean woman that works there is very rude. She didn’t want to give me any soy sauce. I had to beg and she comes out with a little container with 3 drops of soy sauce.
The last time I was there I didn’t eat the chicken because it was so dry. It tasted old and I could not chew it. Pretty much like a rock.
Don’t ask for anything, they act like they’re doing you a huge favor.

I’ve heard of this place from a friend and decided to check it out consider my love for wings .
First things first you have to call 30 minutes ahead of time to place your order so they can prepare it for you, not a problem for me because it just means when you walk in the food will be ready for you. The place itself isn’t large at all, with only 3 – 4 small tables to dine in. Granted this specific area isn’t really made to dine, just carry out but it’s nice that give you an option if you wanna stay and eat the wings .
I ordered a 14 piece of hot wings and I must say that these are incredible tasting with not only with flavor but with texture. I don’t think I ever ate wings that are as crisp as these. Not only the crisp gives you the amazing satisfaction of hearing the crunch in every bite that you take, but the fact that it is crisp makes is easy and also fun for the meat to come right off the bone. Granted the wings are relatively small, and the price is a little steep considering the size, but the way they are made, the flavor, the small kick of spice that isn’t too hot but hot enough that you feel it, is definitely worth it .
These wings are one of the best I’ve had and compared to places that sell wings (Buffalo Wild Wings, Applebees, TGI, Pizza Hut etc) these are by far the best wings. They aren’t the most flavorful, and they definitely aren’t the biggest or large at all, but the perfect combination of moderate spice, flavor, tenderness, and crisp make them fun to eat And will leave you coming for more. My thoughts might change whenever I visit more places in the future but as of right now compared to other restaurants I’ve visited (mainstream r and pizza places) these wings are definitely worth it .
P.S — the menu was hard to find and I didn’t take a picture of the menu but what I can remember is this :
Medium order wings (14 pieces in hot or garlic) — 14 dollars
Large order wings (24 pieces) — 23 dollars

After the sleekness of the newer kyochon/​mad for chicken joints we have been hitting up, the interior of this bonchon just looked much more… lived in. Having said that, we got a large order of a mix of everything and found that there was definitely more meat/​chicken to feast on from this bonchon location’s servings. the sauces are as expected (the normal garlic soy sauce and hot variety) and all is as delicious as usual. Seemed like they were busy with a lot of pick up orders (like us). Glad we had it and can’t wait to have it again sometime soon. They had everything ready in the time they said they would and it was all prompt, easy and delicious service.

Have you tried this place recently??? The chicken skin near the bone is hard as a rock!!! They must put the sauce on, refry it, leave it in the fridge and then fry it again when the order is made. Seriously, I could not chew the skin/​meat near the bones. The sauce? What sauce… there was barely any taste to the chicken. I love BonChon Chicken, but not at this place. This has to be the worst BCC I’ve ever had!
Save your bucks and stay away. Too many chicken joints around the area to choose from.

Grumpy and staring in the refrigerator trying to figure out what could possibly go together to be dinner when the Mr. calls and suggests I put in a combo wing and drumsticks order for half sweet soy garlic and half hot and spicy, with a side of steak fries, pickled radish and kimchi cole slaw. Yesss!
Just the spicy alone will make your tongue fall out and just the sweet alone is too cloying– best to mix it up with half sweet and half spicy. Get that juicy, crunchy order in before you arrive since it takes a good 20 minutes for your meal to be made fresh and sizzling.

Great fried chicken. Light and crunchy coating, juicy chicken. Wish they had more flavors though. The spicy chicken is slightly sweet which is a negative for me.
Recommendation. Please give customers wipes!

Kinda like an Asain KFC, chicken are very tasty, with sweet and garluc taste. The price is bit mor3 expensive than KFC, and portion are smaller. But it is good to enjoy once a while~
Ps. They have free parking, so don’t bwaste your money on the parking meters.

It is generally very hard to get me to rate a place as anything less than 3 stars even if I don’t like it much.
This place… wings were OK. deep fried, but seemed like it was re-​deep-​fried. Service was horrendous… felt like I was doing them a favor by asking for french fries… Anyhow, I would recommend going elsewhere.
