Rodeway Inn & Suites Fort Lauderdale Airport And Cruise Port

Most of this review is for the hotel shuttle service to the port of Miami. If you want to know more about my review on the rooms, please skip down to the last paragraph.
My bf and I stayed at this hotel after a Disney Cruise that was at the Port of Miami. To save money, we decided to fly to Fort Lauderdale from CA and also fly home on the following Monday after our cruise. I also thought that transportation would be very minimal from Miami to this hotel because they specifically said on Expedia under Hotel Amenities, «Roundtrip shuttle service to Miami cruise ports, the beach, and nearby areas are offered for a fee from this Fort Lauderdale airport hotel.» I called them the morning before our ship docked on the Miami Port to confirm that they would provide a shuttle to take us from the Port of Miami to the hotel and the staff member said yes, and to call them again once we get out of customs. So I called them again after we got out of customs and then a different staff member picked up the phone and said that they don’t pick up from the port of Miami and told us to call a 3^rd party shuttle service to come pick us up for a fee. So as you can see we were very frustrated that we had to contact a third party and arrange a ride to pick us up, when they advertised through Expedia that they would provide transportation. Also for the fact that two staff members gave us conflicting information, and the second staff member was very rude when talking to us. We ended up taking a cab which cost us about $ 90 for two, which was a terrible idea because the cab driver was a terrible driver who completely stopped in the middle of the freeway and got lost and still charged us for that time. All of which could have been avoided had the hotel provided the shuttle service as advertised.
We managed to take the airport shuttle the next day but the times seemed very limited. They make you sign up for the shuttle as soon as you check-​in. And then the next day they announced that the airport shuttle will only be running at 9AM, 10AM, and then after 12PM but nothing in between so it is not very accommodating for people who have late morning flights.
The complementary breakfast I have to say was not terrible but also not great but it was FREE. Just remember to bring your breakfast ticket when they give it to you when you check-​in.
The room does not look how it does in the pictures on Unilocal or expedia. It does have an accent wall, but the cleanliness and overall look of the room gives off a motel 6 vibe and not a beachy paradise as the pictures will deceive you to believe. So basically I would rather stay at Motel 6 for the price and the unreliable transportantion service that they so heavily advertise.

I was recommended this hotel by a few different people and finally got a chance to stay there for my birthday. My first impression of the place was that it was clean. The lobby was nicely decorated, the gift shop had everything you could imagine you’d need on a trip (and more), and the staff was very welcoming. Check-​in was fast, as it wasn’t too busy in the lobby. We looked around a bit at the different wines and beers they offered in the lobby, and kept them in mind in case we wanted some later. They have a decent selection.
We got to the room, a jacuzzi suite in the main building, just up the stairs and down the hall from the lobby, which was very convenient. The room was clean and cozy, and the bed was comfortable. After settling in, we walked around the property. The pool area, although not utilized by us, looked extremely clean and well kept. The area outside the pool area was very «Florida» with palm trees and such. If I wasn’t so anxious to try out the jacuzzi (which was VERY relaxing, and might’ve been the highlight of the stay), I’d have spent a little more time out there as it was very peaceful and quiet.
After touring the property, we went back to the room and ordered some food for lunch from the restaurant downstairs. We enjoyed our food so much that we went back later in the evening to dine in and try something different.
My only complaint about the hotel, which isn’t really so bad, but is worth noting, is that the restroom in the room was very small. The jacuzzi has a shower in it as well, and is not inside of the restroom, so the restroom is really just a toilet in a tiny room, which I likened to a closet. It was a little uncomfortable. Luckily, the rest of the room was nice enough to make me overlook that little detail on my next visit. Overall, the place is very nice and I would stay here again.

If you are looking for a reasonably priced place to lay your head before a cruise, this place fits the bill. If you want any more than that, plan to be disappointed. The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable but our toilet wouldn’t flush.
They offer a free shuttle to the cruise port but here is a charge to take it anywhere else.
The food in the sports bar was surprisingly good and reasonably priced. That’s important because everything else to eat requires a car. The breakfast was poor with few selections and poor quality.
Service was sketchy at best. We called a few days before to request a first floor room for my 83 yo mom but no one at he desk knew anything about it. They had the maintainable guy carry the bags upstairs for her.

My family took a cruise vacation leaving Ft. Lauderdale on ¹⁰⁄₃₁ and returning ¹¹⁄₇ on Royal Carribean’s Oasis of the Seas. With all of us being Floridians but not local to the area we needed a place to park our cars and get a shuttle or cab to the port. After reading the reviews and researching we thought that we had found a good deal for our stay and parking. What we did not know was that the management staff in charge of our shuttle service to and from the port would make for a deplorable start and end to our vacation. My family of 8 adults decided that it would be best to pay for a private shuttle with a guaranteed departure time which was slightly later than the main free departure time. Our warning signals should have started here as this shuttle was over 30 minutes late and the manager was quite reluctant to offer a discounted fare despite the promised departure time. Once on the shuttle there was no air conditioning working despite the outside temperature feeling like 90+ degrees with the humidity. Needless to say this would not warrant a negative review, nor even a complaint to management on its own, the sum total is the reason for the negative review.
What follows may seem that this review is written from a vindictive viewpoint. Please be assured that my sole reason for the review is to warn others that may think that they are getting a great deal that the management staff who work here are willing to act in this manner. The hotel may see fit to respond in such a way as to demean or attempt to make this review seem fraudulent as can be seen in the pattern of other negative reviews but know that these same remarks have been forwarded to Choice hotels for investigation.
Upon return to the port which was delayed by an hour due to an unfortunate incident with a man going overboard we followed the hotels instructions for pickup. The instructions were to call once we got through customs and when we did we received an ETA of 45 minutes. This ETA did seem odd considering during the course of the next nearly 90 minutes we observed several other shuttle companies making several pickups. Some of these companies made pickups as frequently as every 5 – 8 minutes. After 50 minutes we followed up with the hotel to find out what was going on and received excuses about why they were delayed. Some of the excuses were «The ship came into port late» (this didn’t seem to impact any other shuttle company, why did it impact you), «There was a boat show going on» (it was over already). When confronted about this the manager proceeded to accost us asking «What do you do for a living?». Finally after nearly 90 minutes of waiting our shuttle arrived and we were able to get back to our cars and we had no intention of discussing the issues with hotel management as we just wanted to get home. A man presenting himself as a manager proceed to the back of the hotel where we were to confront us. When he was confronted with facts about other shuttles having no issues with pickups he became extremely aggressive and belligerent, using language foul enough to make HBO censors blush.
I have dealt with a large number of business and have done a fair amount of travel and I can say with absolute certainty that I have never been treated in this manner by any person, ever, regardless of the circumstances. With regret it is because of this single individual that I am writing this review and am warning others against staying at this hotel.

We found this motel to be clean and efficient. The check-​in clerk Luis was extremely pleasant and helpful. The next day Luis gave us additional tips to get to the dock for our cruise in a timely fashion.

The service was fabulous. Short wait but is worth it. Rooms clean and fresh. I recommend this hotel for stays in Ft Lauderdale

My family and I were highly disappointed in the Rodeway Inn.
To start, check in was a disaster. To check in early, there’s a $ 20 fee, but a place to leave your luggage. Our family decided to go to the attached bar and grill. Extremely overpriced with an hour and twenty minute wait for food.
Rooms were fine. Small, but clean and fairly modern.
The one good part about our stay was the shuttle service. Antoine drove us both from the airport to the hotel and from the hotel to the cruise ship. He was friendly, on time, and made sure we were having a good time.
The GM Izzy is constantly trying to sell you something. Whether it’s an overpriced shuttle to the beach, items from the gift store, or overpriced bottles of wine (barefoot for $ 15 — really?), he’s going to let you know he’s got it for sale. Made a few inappropriate jokes in front of younger cousins of mine staying in the next room which I was put off by.
All in all, would not reccomend. Thank you to Antoine for redeeming part of our stay — that extra star is for you!

From the outside, doesn’t seem like much but once we entered our room we were shocked as to how nice it was! Seemed newly renovated, well cleaned and spacious. The kitchen area had lots of cabinet space in addition to fridge and microwave. Bathroom had a nice shower with glass sliding doors. Bed was very comfortable. The staff was extremely friendly, and even offered us a room upgrade and complimentary drinks. They really went out of their way to make us feel accommodated, and that is why I am definitely staying at this hotel again next time I am in the area.

This place is meh. There’s no fan in the restroom. The beds sink like 1 hunna millimeters. And the lean cuisine is expensive. On the bright side, the pool is very warm. Be careful with the pics on the web. They may not be completely accurate.

The hotel was very clean and looked like it was recently updated. It was very convenient they had two pools. They also have a restaurant with a full bar on site and an AMAZING burger. And did I mention the complementary airport shuttles are Mercedes Benz? Definitely a pleasant surprise!

First off I would like to say I spend anywhere from 75 – 100 nights
a year in hotels due to my work and I have never had to write a
review before. Normally I book all my hotels myself but this time I let
my travel agent book my family cruise/​hotels etc. one less thing I would
have to deal with.
We decided to fly in the day before we cruise like we always do less
stressed and gives the family some time to relax by a pool and put our
feet up and relax because it is vacation. Once we arrived at the airport I
called the hotel to let them know we wanted the shuttle to pick us
up and the girl barked at me on the phone teling me where to stand and
hung up. I was like ok fine, no big deal we waited and waited 30 mins later
I called back another guy answered and I was told they were busy
and it would be at least another 30 mins. So I just flagged down a taxi
and paid for a cab ride to the hotel which was $ 22. No big deal
Checking in the hotel was like a mad house, people all over the place complete chaos.
After waited in line for 30 mins, again must have got the girl who i talked to earlier on the phone,
same rude tone she used while I spoke to her, my family got our room on the ground floor
Got to our room and it had a werid odour, almost like dirty must, I dont know how to
explain it and I have stayed at many other hotels in Florida and down south and none of
them had this smell. Apon looking it looks like the ac unit was leaking and the carpet was wet.
Went to wash my feet and the bathroom looked like it wasnt cleaned from the last guests.
Also toothtaste stains in the sink, I wanted to go down and complain but the line was long so I
didnt care anymore. The Manager there was yelling at someone so I though not going to get into a fight.
Also the room looked like it wasnt dusted either. I took a few pictures but not sure
how to post them on here.
We went for a walk and the hotel seems like its located in a Demilitarized Zone or Industral park
area. Ive stayed in the FLL area many times before crusing and never stayed in this area before
and wont be again. There is no stores or anything within walking distance.
Kids did enjoy the time by the pool which was good. The restraunt in the hotel wasnt too bad and not
great either. But it was enough to get us threw the night
Morning breakfast was complete KAOS, people all over the place. Dont forget your breakfast ticket
or they will raise their voice at you. Luckly I had kept mind in my wallet. Not sure if they are
worried about somoene walking in off the street and helping themselve to a breakfast
After checking out, went to wait for out suppostly free shuttle. That was not a pretty sight.
Just took it in stride and listened to the owner or the Manager, who was hooping and hollering on the mic and telling
lame jokes. I know you could hear him from anywhere in the hotel, somoene should have took that mic away from him
Reminded me of a used cars sales man trying to sell everything under the sun. at about 1035 we got in a shuttle with
some other people and we were just about to go and it was the guy with the mic barking two bucks two dollars. I guess
we have to pay him a service fee to go on a early shuttle. I would have paid alot more than 8 $ to get my family out of there.
I will not stay here again based on the price and the quality. Just remember nothing in this world is free.

Photos of room, in now way reflect the rooms they put you in. Purchased a 2 night stay with Groupon, and the Hotel couldn’t find it! But I called and talked with the desk, to let them know when I was arriving, to make sure everything was ok, because I was arriving in after Midnight. The Front Desk Guy, was a total jerk! And called me a lier! I ended up staying the 1 night. Definitely won’t be back! And front desk guy, if your so miserable, maybe you shouldn’t be in the hospitality industry!

This hotel is not a 5 star hotel, nor do they try or pretend to be one. The rooms were clean and could use some maintenance. We stayed here the night before and the day after our cruises. The staff was very helpful and nice. This place prides itself on customer service. The shuttle service was excellent and convenient, and the drivers were friendly and helpful. The manager on duty coordinating the airport and cruise transportation was great. He was loud, but he got you on the right shuttle at the right time so that you arrived at your ship when you needed to be there. I will use them a gain.

Horrible, scary, dirty, those are the words that come to mind. They sell fifths of vodka and condoms in the lobby right behind the check-​in desk. I was bumped and these are the only accommodations Delta Airlines could find me. I walked into my room and it smelled of urine, smoke, and some sort of heavy cleaning agent. Needless to say, I left immediately. Absolutely disgusted.

Awful shuttle guy Izzy gave us the deal of a lifetime! a long stinky shuttle ride to and from the beach on his schedule for $ 50. Unfortunately it was are first time here and didn’t think twice about spending $ on taking my children on a beach adventure. Izzy was a sleaze ball and I won’t be returning or recommending this place! Yuck staff inside was unhelpful and unprofessional as well.

O hotel é bom, confortável e tranquilo mas, fica em um local afastado onde não há comércios por perto. Fiquei apenas uma noite e além do fato mencionado, não gostei muito do ar condicionado pois é muito barulhento, mas isso é comum em hotéis de baixo custo.
O café da manhã é mais completo, e acho que pelo valor pago pela diária está muito bom.

We stayed for two nights prior to our cruise. The help is rude, especially Ryan. I had to have him repeat what he said several times as he was eating sunflower seeds while he talked/​chewed. The rooms are old and not very clean.
What I did like about the place, was the free shuttle. They do have a large gift shop, although there was nothing I needed.
I did appreciate that they had wine for sale since we had no car.
Would I stay again or recommend the place? I don’t think so.

We utilized the $ 49.99 dayroom package post cruise yesterday. Our flight wasn’t until 8:15pm and this was a perfect option for us to spend our day. I was quite happy with the hotel. We called for the shuttle pick up once we cleared customs after leaving the ship. We were told it would be approx. 45 mins, however, the shuttle did come sooner than that. The hotel is a short ride away from the port. There was no wait to check in. Kourtney was great, she quickly checked us in and arranged our shuttle reservation for our ride to the airport later that evening. We had a room on the second floor in the building at the back of the property. The room was actually really nice. It was clean and a decent size, and quiet. The bathroom was a bit small, but we just got off the ship so it actually seemed big compared to that. It had a coffee maker, microwave and a mini fridge. It also had a whirlpool tub next to the bed, however, we didn’t partake. We didn’t use the pool either, but there were others using it and it looked clean. There is a gift shop and restaurant on site if needed. We ended up walking to a 7 – 11 which was a mile walk each way. The free wi-​fi worked well. Our shuttle was scheduled to leave at 6pm for the airport, but left a few minutes early. Our experience was great! I’d recommend the dayroom to anyone taking a late flight out of Ft. Lauderdale. If I find myself in that position again, I know I’ll be staying at Rodeway.

The «nickel and dime hotel» should be the real name for this hotel! We were told we could check in early for an additional $ 20 fee, we were charged $ 1 for printing a page off the computer and they wanted $ 2 per person for the early shuttle to the cruise port. That in addition to the constant barrage of announcements that the gift shop is open! The manager is always promoting or selling something! He is very LOUD!
The rooms are ok, clean and a place to lay your head. The pool furniture cushions are covered in mold. Don’t forget to bring a towel from your room because there are none at the pool. Breakfast is basic continental fare. It was okay. The girls did keep the area clean.
There is nothing in the vacinity of the hotel! You cannot walk to any stores or restaurants. You can of course pay extra for a shuttle to local hot spots like Winn Dixie.
To some it up… you definitely get what you pay for! We would not come back here again and would not recommend it. This did not set the proper tone for our fabulous cruise vacation!

My first impression of this facility was bright & cheery thru the website, the young lady I spoke with when I made the reservation was fantastic !!
We were so excited about spending the night before our cruise in Fort Lauderdale!
But that’s about the only nice thing I can say about this $ 200.00 a night dump !!!
We were told to call when we landed, which I did. And was told 20 minutes, which turned out to be a hour wait for the shuttle to be picked up. And the shuttle driver was not impressive at all !!!
Then when trying to check in the gentlemen behind the desk had no idea what he was doing & ran my discover card so much they declined it. And then the phone calls & emails started coming from Discover because they thought someone stole my card.
We get to the room, which was absolutely filthy, dust bunnies everywhere. the TV wouldn’t change off the Spanish channel & the remote wouldn’t work!!!
Bathroom was filthy & the tub & sink wouldnt drain !!!
But wait this is the best part of this place !!! We decide to go & grab a bite to eat in the restaurant we sit at the bar & the bartender approaches up & started chatting. I stepped away a couple times during our time there. I notice the bartender has a interest in my fiancée but when i come back she steps right away … Low n behold when we leave the restaurant & are walking back to the room my fiancée passes me a piece of paper with the bartender’s # & telling him to meet her on the rooftop at some club in Miami !!!
The next morning at our breakfast (which was a joke) we were told we could pay $ 2.00 extra to get early shuttle to the port, I would have paid $ 2,000.00 for shuttle ride to the port to get out of this dump !!!
And the funny thing is, we had a couple of other people who shared the same shuttle to the port & felt the same way !!!
So of coarse when I returned back to Boston & I had a email from Rodeway asking about my stay & I expressed everything that I have in this Unilocal review.
And I got a generic apolgy from Izzy, well Im sorry Izzy your generic email is not going to do !!!
Your hotel should be shut down !!!

Like many others we booked it because it was the best deal we could find. I stayed there pre-​cruise on a very busy day — Celebrity, Princess, RC, Carnival were all sailing, many more than one ship. Crazy busy.
We arrived in the evening. Airport pickup was a reasonable wait. About 30 minutes I’d guess. Check-​in went quickly for us. No more than 10 minutes.
Room was basic & clean located on the second floor near the reception. Had everything we needed. The next morning we got up to find no hot water. They started looking into it and claimed they had to restart our boiler or something and that it would be back. I thought it was BS but we postponed the shower and went for breakfast. Breakfast was standard fare — cereals, eggs, waffle maker, etc. When we got back to our room the hot water was indeed back (two-​star review narrowly avoided) and we got our hot showers.
Getting loaded onto the shuttles to the ships took a long time. But considering they had literally hundreds of guests to transport it went relatively well. Still it would have been nice if they would have told us in advance that the shuttle for our ship would be sent dead last. The whole chaotic herding of cruisers is handled by a jovial guy telling lame jokes but generally keeping things moving and spirits up. I figured either we wait there or at the ship. What’s the difference. We ended up on board at 1pm in plenty of time to get lunch & settle in.
There was also a roving guy in a captains uniform there to provide some humor and keep spirits up.
There was a little convenience store on the premises as well as an on-​site restaurant called Reef. At the front desk there’s a rack of wine for about $ 15 /​bottle for those who want to carry their allowance of wine to the ship. I was going to purchase a corked bottle and the lady kindly reminded me I might want a screw cap if I don’t have a corkscrew and want to avoid the fee. I didn’t catch her name but she was very friendly — and pretty — answering all the same questions for the 1000^th time with a genuine smile on her face.
I’m giving an extra star to counteract all the overly negative reviews. You get what you pay for and this place has the best value proposition and great staff too.
