Previewmod

This store has the most AMAZING furniture, all collectors items. Their knowledge and passion of Mid Century Modern is evident in their wide variety furniture, lighting and other collectables from that era. They are some of the most talented restorers and upholsters in the business, their love for what they do shows in each piece they restore.
I’ve been buying from Previewmod for over 20 years, and unlike comment from Jimmy C and Amy C (obviously not married!!!) below, they are NOT going to go out of business, because people who really appreciate their furniture keep coming back knowing that they only sell the best. But when customers come in with wet clothing from the beach, food or drinks, which I have personally witnessed while in the store) then they will be asked to not sit on furniture or leave their food and drinks out side the store. If they take offense to that then they don’t belong around such beautiful pieces of art.
The time and expertise the owners of Previewmod put into the restoration of the furniture is remarkable, and the last thing they need is for some idiot to stain it because they are too ignorant to know better.

When it comes to furniture stores, Previewmod is a highly specialize one dealing in furniture and other items I might best describe as being Mid-​Century Modern or those roughly designed or brought about by what was the modern design movement of the mid-​20^th century, generally covering years from 1933 to 1965.
It’s a furniture design I love and know a little bit about, but being only slightly knowledgeable about such things is akin to have no knowledge at all, since it is so unique, somewhat specialized and only attracts a small but avid following.
Since Previewmod is in the process of remodeling, I’m hesitant to rate it but some of the pieces they had on display were real gems but, of course, at gem prices such as a Charles Eames (circa mid 1960’s) chair. Though listed at a price of $ 4,200 which one might at first blush consider high, it along with the condition of it actually represents a price I would consider to be somewhere around $ 600 below the prevailing retail market; hence, a pretty good deal.
Beyond their store front, Previewmod also has one of the better such web sites I’ve seen.
If you’re really into furnishings of this type, and really only if you’re into them, it’s a pretty good store in comparison to other stores I’ve visited that specialize in similar such furnishings.

Likely closing soon. I was with Dr. Amy C. (from prior/​last review below) and decided to create a Unilocal account to leave my own review. While vacationing in Ft Lauderdale, we had $$ to spend and these guys RAN US OUT of the store. I suspect they didn’t like our 3 well-​behaved kids. If they’re still here when you read this review — remind them from where their money comes. JC

Incredibly rude establishment. We are fans of mid-​century things, but strongly recommend not setting foot in here. We were greeted unkindly, and when sat in a chair were asked if we had wet bathing suits on which we clearly did not. They were re-​upholstering something which took up walkway of store. They were only concerned about us not touching their things and asked us to leave very rudely. This place shouldn’t expect to sell much with attitude like that.
