Growing up in the Midwest and going to undergrad in Saint Louis I’m used to Catholic religious stores proliferating the ethnic neighborhoods that have long since been nearly erased by immigrants from elsewhere replacing what were once staunchly Irish, German, Polish and Slovakian working class neighborhoods. Miami has a good smattering of botanicas for those brave enough to enter into the mysteries of Caribbean voodoo and hoodoo but a good religious store catering to Catholic Christian needs is not an easy find in Broward. I am delighted to discover Moroney’s which has quite a large collection of statuary, rosaries, books and paraphernalia for opening your own Church(think clerical vestments, large altar statuary, gold chalices and the like). I’ve been twice and liked the service but still feel they could offer more for home use in terms of small and inexpensive statuary — but as they are the only game in town that’s close to work — I will be back!

With family members«in the biz», believe me when I tell you that this is a full service religious supply store which carries all the necessary stuff to upkeep a Christian church. It covers everything from a huge selection of choir gowns and absolutely beautiful vestments and stoles to chalices and altar incense and tabernacles. The statues are beautiful. If you are looking to purchase something special to gift to someone for that special sacrament such as Baptism, Holy Communion, Confirmation, Marriage or even to console someone after a death in the family then this place covers it all. It’s open to the public and very old school but very welcoming.
