History
Established in 1977.
The Fort Lauderdale Strikers Football Club play in the North American Soccer League (NASL), the second-division of American soccer. The Strikers were members of the original incarnation of the North American Soccer League from 1977 to its penultimate year, 1983, and were owned by Joe Robbie, who also owned the Miami Dolphins. The Strikers signed and fielded many legendary players throughout their original incarnation including George Best, Teófilo Cubillas and Gerd Müller. The current incarnation of the Fort Lauderdale Strikers began in 2011, with the return of the NASL, after competing from 2006 – 2010 as Miami FC in the United Soccer League. The Strikers currently play in Lockhart Stadium.
