History

Established in 1994.

Phillips Petroleum/Phillips 66 purchased 22 acres of mangrove swamp for the purpose of establishing a fulll service gas station for watercraft.

In 1959 the hotel opens as a Pier 66 with 100 rooms. Today this section is known as the Marina Building. The Tower was added in 1965.

The 17 story structure was hailed as an architectural and engineering masterpiece for its time. The «timeless crown» at the top of the tower became one of the most famous landmarks in South Florida, offering 360-degree views of Fort Lauderdale as the floor circulated once every 66 minutes. Over the years the property has been modernized and enhanced with the addition of guest rooms, a spa, meeting space, pools and restaurants.
