Lawd have mercy! Smoke till you choke. Don’t choke too much though! I don’t know what divine substance they smother on those ribs but if I close my eyes and I reminisce on the sauce; I could almost taste it. You can smell this place from down the street. I was at the red light smelling out the window like. what is the sorcery? When I parked right next to the smoker, I knew I was in for a treat. That thing is bigger than my car! Yes, it was love at first bite. The slices of bread that they threw in were perfect for absorbing that sauce. I literally ate a full rack and then later I woke up and ate half of my boyfriends order. This is the best BBQ I’ve ever had in my entire life. I wish they had a location in Miami but since they don’t, I will gladly drive myself over here whenever I’m in the mood for BBQ. Go ahead, smoke… but don’t choke ma!

I had this place bookmarked for a while and was excited to finally try it. They did not disappoint! When my friend and I parked we immediately noticed the smokers going with smoke billowing out of them, the delicious smell of the slow cooking meat fills the area. The place is very aptly named. After examining their menu, I went with a chicken and rib combo. They have 2 sauce choices, hot or mild, and I chose the hot. Got sides of Mac and cheese and baked beans. The meal also came with corn bread. Food was out in a couple minutes. Every thing was delicious… ribs were rightly cooked, not over cooked /fall off the bone, but meat separated with a gentle tug. Chicken was tender and not dry. Loved their rub, which has a bit of a spice kick, and really loved their hot mustard-based barbecue sauce(commonly found in South Carolina). It’s definitely quite hot, no joke. The Mac and cheese and beans were both very nice, and corn bread is a hefty large piece. Good stuff, would definitely return.

Ribs and chicken are super tasteful. Staff are friendly. Only con is the setting. Parking lot and restaurant could be bigger. Although they did help and guide me into a parking space. I could imagine how it gets when it’s packed. Overall I loved this place

I have been back 3 times since my 1st visit and subsequent review. My husband knows now to bring some home to me if he is close by Sunrise. The portions are monstrous. Love, love, love the hot barbecue sauce. The next to last time I visited, I brought my cousin and uncle. My cousins got mac n cheese and my uncle got ribs for my aunt and himself. My cousin reported the mac n cheese is some of the best she’s tasted from a soul food spot and she said aunt and uncle murdered the ribs and had plenty to spare. I can’t wait to go back!

This joint is jumping with the best bbq ribs in town. Meaty, tender and flavorful. You have not had a slab of ribs this huge ever. Makes me wonder what kind of slab the other folks been serving up all this time. Service is excellent. Family owned place with good home cooking food.

Good, but could be better! Pros: great yellow sauce, different; excellent Collards. Good, moist chicken. Cons: slow service; good bbq should ALREADY be done, thus quick. Call ahead and give them the full time to prepare. Thought ribs were TOUGH. it smelled better to us than it tasted. Maybe we caught them on a bad day. Two different groups visited here on two different days and WE all got tough ribs! We’d go back for chicken, sauce, greens and skip the ribs! They could work on a slower, longer cook time OR better marinade to break the pork down!

Usually a good place to satisfy my BBQ craving. Today I went there for lunch and was extremely disappointed. Not with the food. I didn’t get any. There hours say they open at 11 am. I got there at 11:45 and three guys where sitting out by the grills. There was smoke and it looked like a typical day. After parking, I go inside and a young lady tells me she’s sorry but they have no meat ready. I ask her how long and she’s says about 1 probably 1:30. No meat until 2 ½ hours after you open! Ridiculous! Just lost a loyal customer and my friends.

This by far was the best ribs and chicken wings I’ve ever had. The ribs so so tender. The wings, crispy and perfect. Also the best, were the little sweet potato pies. I didn’t like my collards. The Mac and cheese was good. Cornbread good. I watched them open a giant can of baked beans. So I wouldn’t necessarily come back for the sides but I would go out of my way for the ribs and wings

The woman in font was not friendly at all, kept walking to the back when I was trying to order a 10pc. She also charged me $ 11.99 and the menu says $ 8.99 but the food was amazing and the whole place smelled like heaven. Be patient and in a good mood when you go.

Long wait, but the bbq is to die for. Ppl drive far to come eat their food. Also, they give u alot of food for a reasonable price. However, the place and parking is small.

Three stars because: –the banana pudding cake was dope!!! –the bbq sauce and meat were a great combination –the macaroni and cheese was old and too cheesy for my liking –the baked beans tasted like nothing extra was added to them to make them great

The food is surprisingly great. I order the family meal which includes ½ slab of ribs and ½ chicken with two large sizes of potatoes salad and baked beans. The ribs are so juicy and the sauces just add that flavor that has your mouth watering with every bite. The chicken was juicy falling off the bone goodness. I personally dislike white meat yet this place cooked and marinated their meat a way I’ve never encountered. The moment you walk through the door it such warm welcoming atmosphere. With a southern grandma house feel. I enjoyed the interaction with the people and loved the food, I will definitely be back here.

I used to go to this place many years ago when it was ran by a family who still owns the building and it was good then too. Today it’s ran by different people and I really enjoyed the meal I had which was the rib dinner with home made macaroni and cheese and greens, I ordered it with the hot BBQ sauce and it had a nice kick to it. The ribs were perfectly done with the rib tips still attached to them I usually like when when they cut them off and served them on the side. I was told if you like it that way you need to ask them to do that. If you are BBQ fan this is a must try place if your not a BBQ fan you have some issues LOL I plan on going back taking my family with me this time.

2-DAY CRAWLOFTHETOP-RATEDBBQ restaurants in Miami/Fort Lauderdale. We’re both huge BBQ fans, and we’ll versed on the subject. These reviews are only for the meat. We did not heavily weigh the sides or prices, since they were all acceptable. Sparky’s Roadside BBQ, Miami — My nephew’s favorite of the group. Small-town diner ambiance, delicious, smokey, authentic, moist BBQ, no sauce needed, generous portions, diner-style service. Swine Southern Table & Bar, Coral Gables — elegant BBQ? A quirky combination of trendy style and dressed up cuisine, soft but bland meat helped by creative sauces, chef instead of pit master, professional staff. We both enjoyed the restaurant, but couldn’t rave about the BBQ. Most expensive of the group. Blue Willy’s BBQ, Pompano Beach — Food truck graduated to extremely authentic BBQ restaurant, smokey, casual dining room with long tables, samples while waiting in line, good BBQ, but both ribs and brisket need the help of sauce for moisture and flavor. Park at Midas across the street. Father & Sons Smoke Til U Choke BBQ, Fort Lauderdale — Next to the Swap Shop, picnic tables on the porch, smokers out back, nice aroma, sadly, dry chicken and ribs which could not be rescued by their strange sauce. The only one we would not recommend. We ate dinner here and theorized that the meat had been cooked early in the day and dried out in the smoker. Pride & Joy BBQ, Wynwood — My favorite of the group. Clever interpretation of rustic BBQ joint with lots of picnic tables out back, friendly albeit casual service, big and open late, delicious, moist BBQ, no sauce needed, but good sauces if you’re so inclined, good sides, nice aroma for blocks.

This BBQ place has such soul and charisma. The owners and workers are attentive and cranking… characters and fellow customers I’ve encountered here remind me of a popular BBQ shack in a little Texas town I know that was the meeting neutral happy place– that social bridge for all the town folk, rich, poor, low class, high class, middle class, all races, every walk of life so hypothetically happy to see one another, eating and laughing heartily, talking good humored smack, telling stories that everyone seemed to relate to. I’ve gotten the ribs a couple times now. They have been wonderfully tasty with and without the amazing sauces, which come in spicy or mild. The ribs have been smoky and tender, not gristly, just enough fat not to be annoying, to keep the meat tender and juicy. The chicken was OK, especially if you need to feed non-pork eaters in this one-trip-to-a-restaurant. I got the meals with two sides, runs about $ 13 for the rib dinner; each time there were about 6 different-size rib pieces, mostly about 7 – 8 inches long, thick cut and meaty. This visit, I was told before I ordered that there was about a 20 minute wait on the ribs in case I couldn’t wait. How courteous is that? The sides are good, too. The greens both times were very good, you can taste a hint of vinegar, but that was remedied for me with the AMAZING side of cornbread, I choose to mix the two-ever heard the backwoods terminology of putting cornbread into«pot liquor»? Lol. The baked beans were sweet, and the reddish rice/pea mix had a kick to it. The sweetie pie lady behind the counter suggested cake, I got the pound cake with the lemon glaze. Moist, firm and not too sweet, the glaze carrying most of the sweetness, the way a pound cake should be. All of the cakes were precut and packaged. They are baked off site, I believe they have two cake vendors. They also had red velvet, key lime and vanilla layer cakes. A small selection of can/bottle drinks were in a small reach in cooler on the counter. They had two recycling drink machines(I don’t know the technical name), lemonade and fruit punch, both verrrrrry sweet, but also blended tastily, if you like that kind of drink. The place is small, more conducive to take out. But if you can’t wait to eat, you can sit at high top tables inside or park like benches outside; the wood deck seating is not fancy, but so welcoming, reminiscent of old school mom and pop places just trying to make food for the neighborhood, any other appeal being happenstance. My rib exclusive. Love.

Review from January 2014. Good barbecue, although the sauces were too sweet to my taste. We had both the chicken(3⁄5) and the ribs(4⁄5), and the ribs came out well ahead. I didn’t feel there was enough«pull» to the meat on the ribs, but they had good flavor. The sides were okay and they have all the usual suspects: Cole slaw, beans, potato salad and collard greens. The service was excellent – very personable as well as on top of things for our take out.
