B-Tan Tanning Salon of Fort Lauderdale

Since under new management this place has really gone under! It’s not clean, the beds are pretty out-​dated, the staff is unfriendly and always on their phones when you come in, sometimes they even make you wait to finish their personal conversations before «helping» you, and overall the place doesn’t have the same customer appreciation or service that it used to. I have been a member of Hollywood Tans for over 6 years and once turned to B-​Tan, I stayed, but have finally cancelled my membership it is so bad. I would not recommend this place to anyone. There are SO many tanning salons in South Florida, you do not need to go somewhere like this!

I had a pleasant experience! Just got spray tan, will c tomorrow my «tan».
Continued: woke up the following day-​and BOOM! I look 5 shades darker! Even tan, so happy w it! Ichose dark from Mystic. Cos i had light natural tan already. My skin now has bikini ready tan, just like from the posters:)
Couple tips: scrub all ur body real good before. I just used coffee grinds at home, from my coffee maker, worked perfect. Also didn’t put ANY lotion, just loaded up w a barrier complementary lotion on my palms and feet.
So a bit older place, no neon lights, but front girl was super friendly! I will go back!

At first i used to love this place, some of the girls were so nice And would always want to help u… it wasnt until last week that my experience completetely s***, nobody was at Front… then a girl by the name of Hanna comes out trying to charge me more than I was asking for, after she charges me for 2 weeks of tan she states that I owe 180 .00 of a contract I didn’t cancel, I explained to her that I was told it was only for 3 months, she refused to call and ask a manager to see how they could help me… after I had paid she said I couldn’t tan, she said I had to pay months of tanning I hadn’t even used… she had attitude and I can believe u prefer loosing a loyal customer instead of helping them out… RIPOFF they never gave me back my money or tried to settle things… pple like this should not be in CUSTOMER SERViCE!!!

I am personally standing out side of b tans as I am writing this and I am extremely frustrated for the fact it’s 9:22 this morning and no one is here. I purposely came here and have been here since 9 am so that I could get one last tan in before I left for my wedding this afternoon. Thanks a lot b tans I couldn’t get my tan in due to your employees not being in on time!

This tanning salon is the worst I’ve ever been to. It is not dirty, and the people are her rally friendly, but the beds are TERRIBLE. I rarely ever UV tan but I have a wedding coming up, so I bought 1 month unlimited tans in their «medium» bed. I typically tan extremely easily and would only have to go 1x to get a tan… Here that is not the case. I’ve tanned here 2x in the last 3 days and haven’t gotten ANY darker. I used a sticker both times to see the difference, and both times I didn’t get ANY tanner… How is this even possible? Are they using regular light bulbs in their beds?! Jeez

Great service, friendly helpful team, and good facilities for the price of services. For the price of service I was very impressed by B-​Tan and I have used Electric Sun right across the street whom yes has very modern updated beds, etc but they are overpriced and rude. I really will never give them my money and stick with B-​tan purely based on how nice and friendly and accommodating they were to my requests.

First of all, I’d like to say I’m VERY overly disappointed in what this «tanning salon» has turned into! I have been tanning at this Hollywood Tans (former name) for over 8 years. They randomly changed the name and I figured okay, cool– maybe they’ll update it and get some new lay downs or a new sitting area or new spray booths that actually work and aren’t always broken. NOPE! Just has turned into more complete CRAP! This place has gone downhill! Especially since the new «manager» which I don’t even believe is a real manager, Caitlyn has «taken over» this place was NEVER as horrible as it is now!!! She treats customers with complete disrespect as her 3 employees who literally work EVERY DAY! But miss big shot Caitlyn is barely ever there! And when she is she looks run down, dirty, orange, and has an odor to her also a rude face every time someone even asks a question!!! I am so upset about this! I even asked a couple of my friends if they noticed how bad this place has gotten and they agreed, well the 2 that even still sometimes spray. The others cancelled because of Caitlyn! Not surprised! I will be going in tomorrow to cancel my membership! Really wish it was how it used to be when they actually had pretty, nice, happy workers and real managers. Such a shame!!! I wonder who the owner is and if she even knows the manager makes the same 3 girls work every day!!! And how disgusting this place and HERSELF actually are!!! I don’t want to see her face ever again. People– please stay away!

Absolute worst tanning salon I have ever been to. First off, trying to find this place took us a bit of time since it is called B Tan but the actual store front says Hollywood Tan so we were a bit confused. Walking in the lady at the front desk couldn’t have been less thrilled by our entrance. No hi, hello, how can I help you, just «last name». I told her that I had bought a Groupon and this was our first time here (my husband and I). She said she would need to see the Groupon and get my ID. Throughout the whole «check in process» there was no small chat or explaining how their salon worked. Once check-​in was done and I paid an extra $ 7.90 tax on top of my Groupon she said room 18 and that was it. No, do you need help or I can show you to your room. Not that I couldn’t handle it myself but come on, where is the Customer Service??? By far the WORST customer service ever in a tanning salon. (Those are all things a normal salon do for you when it’s your first time).
So I found my own way back to room 18 and was less than happy with what I found. A huge room was a old dated tanning bed. And a fan at the end of the bed that was turned off. I had no clue at this point that the bed wouldn’t have its own fans so I didn’t turn the fan on at the end of the bed. Soon to find out no fan in tanning bed and a super cheap bed with dim lights. My husband and I felt super dirty after leaving this place.
Needless to say the only plus about this salon is that the bed actually turned on when I hit the start button. Now we have a month stuck with this place and hopefully neither of us get a disease while tanning here. :(
Please do not get tricked into coming here or buying their groupon by the other good reviews.

b-​tan is awful. the bulbs are always out, the beds are old and half the time they’re dirty and full of hair! also on groupon they advertise they have 140 locations nationwide, but they are LYING! that was Hollywood Tans, but it’s under new management and no longer affiliated with Hollywood tans. b-​tan is completely separate. maybe im old fashioned, but a dishonest business just isn’t cool with me.

Meh. Only writing a review because I used a deal here. Beds were decent, not great. Staff was staff, not overly friendly. Mediocre.

If it could do negative stars I would… I tanned every day to every other day for a month in the stand ups and lay downs and got nothing. I’ve worked at other tanning salons and have been a member at several, and I’ve seen better results in 2 sessions than I did at this place for a month.
The beds are not clean, the rooms are sketchy and small. Its uncomfortable.
The staff doesn’t care about you as an individual. So basically if they are promoting a certain lotion, its «perfect for you». Yes they”re sales people, but each person is extremely different, especially when it comes to their skin. Lotions are people-​specific. Certain qualities would benefit other tanners that may not help the other. For example, I have light skin and I don’t tan as easily as someone from Brazil! So I would need a light to medium bronzer (not to leave streaks on my light skin) with an accelerator. This will help my own tan grow while giving me an additional boost to my tanning process. Someone who’s a bit older, or most women who care about skin-​care and anti-​aging will need something with a silicone, a lot of good lotions also have formulas called ‘Renovage Technology’ or ‘Body Fit’ or ‘Ideal Fit’ that fights against skin sagging and improves elasticity in your skin, they can help to firm and hydrate the skin while reducing the appearance of wrinkles… Things like this that they should ask their customers before just handing them the ‘promotional lotion’ … As a tanning salon employee you have to ask questions and at least pretend to care about the clients needs and wants. This place didn’t do a fraction of this. I was not impressed. Not okay in my books!
Go to Boca Tanning Club– they have amazing customer service, the best hygiene, reasonable prices, and its more of an experience than this place!

I have been going to HT for about 5 years & have seen it undergo many changes, including location, staff, and service. The actual equipment is good and the pricing is fairly low when compared to other salons in the area. You do not need an appointment & almost never have to wait for an available booth. The main drawback with HT is a lack of consistency with service & cleanliness. When I initially purchased my membership, the staff was so attentive, knowledgable and gracious and by my 3^rd visit, they all knew my name. Then new faces came often and barely looked up to greet you. It was not uncommon to see the staff outside talking on the phone or smoking or both. This was just before the move to the current location. The big move a couple of years ago caused problems initially. It took awhile to get up & running & it hit an all time low. At one point they didn’t even offer you a towel, but would say,“Would you like a rag?!” I’m not kidding. But in the past few months, I have seen an improvement in service. Sometimes you still see a staff member outside on the phone oblivious to you but the new staff seem on the right track… but don’t expect them to remember your name because they won’t.

My guilty pleasure is definitely tanning, now don’t get wrong I’m not even a shade close to the caste of jersey shore. However I don’t love when my skin is a few shades darker than white, or clear as some of my friends say. When I need a tanning fix, my new preferred spot is this Hollywood Tanning salon right near my house. I found a coupon online for a free week and decided to check it out. Now I love it.
The best value here is to get the unlimited tanning for a 3-​month period. Otherwise the individual tans can get pretty pricey. They also have great lotions that are available to purchase and the staff is really knowledgeable. You can also leave your lotion at the salon so its easy and convenient and you never have to worry about not having it with you when you want to tan. Also, if you forget to take off your makeup or forget a hair elastic they provide all of that complimentary in the changing room.
It is a pretty new place and opening within the last 5 months or so. All the beds are new and they facility is really clean. They specialize is stand up tanning which is great if you are trying to even out your funny lines you got from the beach. They even have this new ultra violent red light machine/​bed that is supposed to make your skin look younger. It’s pretty state of the art, and I plan to give it a try soon!

Awesome and clean new location. (next to Verizon & Ruth’s Chris Steak House). Friendly staff and they will be getting some Red Light Therapy Booths which supposedly «fight lines, blemishes and aging!» can’t wait to try it. Will keep you guys updated on it.

It’s a nice place with a lot of different types of beds, but when you buy a «package» you have to be careful that A) they are not going to keep charging you after your time is up and B) They are clear as to what facilities you can use.
The place on Federal Hwy is by far the nicest one I have been to (I had been to three and one closed the day after I signed up for the tanning package).
I loved the fact that they had a «beauty bar» in the back where you could fretted up a bit before going home or where ever it is you are heading.

Tanning equipment is outdated. Clean. The highest pressure is a booth only and it’s more money than electric sun… they have both available. Oh yea and I was sick of one of the girls always giving me an attitude. I worked next door so it’s funny I had to avoid tanning there because of the attitude I got every time I went in. It was only from a couple of the girls.

The staff are always friendly going out of their way to remember your name, which is a nice touch for S. FL. The actual tanning area and booths are kept clean and tidy, I would however recommed vacuuming out the hair/​dirt from under the actual units a lttle more often. The staff always go out of their way to keep you satisfied.
Update 12÷22÷11 — Wow, have things changed. This location moved to a new location and along with it came disorganization. They had power issues for quite some time, which I believe they have since fixed. The staff that were always so polite and helpful have been replaced with dreary people that are not only unfriendly and don’t ever remember your name but they also don’t know their own products. Just yesterday I was given booth that did not have lights, the bulbs had been removed the actual tanning cage that protects you from the tanning tubes was missing, so opening the door was a nightmare to get out as the tubes were so hot and burnt you when you touched them — I hope for their sake noone gets hurt from this. Then while exiting this location the gentleman that was in charge at that time was draped across the lobby couch playing on his phone and could barely take the time to acknowledge his client exiting. This is not a good way to conduct business and it’s so sad to see a place that was doing so well, go the complete opposite in a fairly short time. I’m crossing fingers things improve.
Update: 7÷17÷12 — There has been a marked improvement in this salon in both customer service and experience which I am so happy about. Keep up the good work!
