Since I am new in town I needed a thermostat for my buick and didn’t know where to go. Checked out a few other places in town and quiet a few where going to run me an easy 200.00 or more. I found these guys on Unilocal and was really happy with the service and professional manner they work in. and the price was almost half of what I was quoted at other places Being a woman you are almost always guaranteed to be taken advantage of when going to the mechanics. However this is not the case here, they even showed me the part that was damaged and why my car was not functioning properly. I will continue to come back to then any time I need something regarding my car. The owner was just as sweet as could be too. Thank you Gary for all you did to help me with my car!

These guys are amazing. I have an old Honda. It’s almost like my second child. Gary has helped me over the years keep the Honda up and running. I highly recommend these guys. They are the best in FoCo!!!

I literally JUST spent every penny of my savings on a home project and don’t keep credit cards. As such, when I had a major steering component fail on my truck, leaving me stranded, I was beyond stressed over what the repair was going to cost.
I’m new to the area and had no idea who was who in terms of shops and no local friends to turn to for a referral so I turned to Unilocal. I picked Summers based on not just the star ratings but the actual content of the prior reviews. Let me tell you, I’m so extremely glad I did! Gary could have EASILY charged me for diagnosis, then sold me a bunch of parts, then charged me several hour’s labor at $ 150++/hour. Instead, he actually LISTENED to me and cared about my temporary financial predicament. What??? Real customer service in 2014??? And from a repair shop nonetheless??? I came out with a quality repair for even less than I expected!
Summers earned themselves a customer for life right here!

Based on such high reviews, I took my van into Summers Auto Repair, and they not only met my expectations, but they also EXCEEDED them.
Gary diagnosed my problem on the spot, and took the time to extract some liquid from my radiator and use a flashlight to visually show me what was wrong. Then, he gave me a very fair estimate on what he thought needed to be done. Additionally, he called me twice – once the following morning after the mechanic confirmed the diagnosis and was ready to begin the repair, and again a few hours later when the work was complete.
Our van is old and has a lot of obvious/​annoying, but minor problems, and Gary never did try to up-​sell me or try to encourage me to spend any money on additional services. Not only that, a few hours before I picked it up, I called and requested an oil and air filter change, and they added it without hesitation, plus gave me a very fair price.
As a woman who doesn’t know a lot about cars (and who has now shared this experience with Summer’s service and price with a few people who are very familiar with cars – and even impressed them), I cannot tell you how grateful I am to have found an auto repair place that I can TRUST!
If you’re having car problems, I would absolutely encourage you to give Gary and the staff at Summer’s Auto a call. These are the GOOD GUYS! A+ for both Service and Price!

I typically do my own brake/​rotor replacements, but I just recently moved out to Ft Collins and did not have time to change them before driving out here. I knew it was time to get my rotors/​brakes changed, so I had the replacement parts on hand, but left all my auto tools back in CA.
Long story short, I called by phone to receive a quote on labor for brake/​rotor service. I was greeted by a nice enough woman, but was told that their automotive shop would not consider doing labor-​only brake/​rotor replacement.
I understand that many establishments (not just auto) make a decent profit off selling parts, so the only reason I was surprised was due to the great ratings this establishment received on Unilocal.They lost my business for an easy enough request. I may reconsider this place if my car breaks down for whatever other reason.

Finally thought I found a place I could trust. I had brought them some new brake pads from my old car that had that I didn’t get to put on & didn’t want to waste. he charged me $ 104 dollars to just put the pads on my car did nothing else. also had mentioned that I just changed my spark plugs because I was having misfires and changed all the coil pack (my car was running great for weeks since I had done that) but inquired how much a valve adjustment would be ?! he said he didn’t know now got it back not even a block down the road having horrible misfires again… don’t know what happened but seems a little odd to me it was running perfect and get it back after having opened my big mouth and it’s suddenly bad again. Back to the drawling board finding a trustworthy shop, and now have to waste more money I don’t have getting the misfires fixed again!!! nightmare.

These guys are amazing! It is so nice to find an auto shop who is owned by and who employs people you can trust, who are friendly and helpful, and who get the job done! I highly recommend these guys; you will not be disappointed.

These guys took in a stranger passing through town just at closing time. The weather was cold and they still came outside, ran some codes, and explained everything to me. They treated me like a long time customer. On top of that they charged me nothing for their time.

Great people & service — Gary is very knowledgeable & trust worthy… just fixes what is broken, doesn’t try to sell you unnecessary parts or services. Will give options on different quality parts. Business has a friendly family feel.

My daughter (CSU student) had to leave her car in Old Town because it wasn’t running right. Called Gary at Summers and he hooked me up with a tow company and had my daughter’s car up and running the next day. I know quite a bit about cars but being 120 miles away there wasn’t much I could do. They called both me and my daughter and kept us informed and took the time to really talk about the issues. Summers Automotive did it right and was very reasonably priced. Thanks Gary! I’m a raving fan now!

One of the screws on my license plate was stripped and I brought in my car for some help removing it. They fixed it while I waited and then didn’t charge me a thing. I will definitely be coming here for any other auto issues I might have!

Finding a good, honest mechanic is a tough task when you don’t know if your problem is going to cost you $ 200 or $ 1200. Summers is great! Gary and his team have done an excellent job with both of our vehicles. They are very good at assessing what NEEDS to be done and will explain the process/​logic in each scenario. Very customer oriented and always communicate before taking any steps. I won’t take my cars anywhere else.

My car had fuel leakage problems while road tripping through Colorado. I found this place through AAA. Not only did they go above and beyond to find the problem, but they did not try to suggest any repairs we didn’t need. They were friendly and helpful in every ways.

I have been taking my various cars and trucks to Summers since about 2001, and have always received excellent, prompt, and competitively priced service.
They always do a good job of explaining any issues they find and have never surprised me with unexpected charges or changes.

Update: I wish I could give these guys six stars. They just keep exceeding expectations. This past month we needed to replace an engine. Not only were Summers the best quote we received, but they ordered the engine for us ahead of time, and completed the job in exactly 1 business day. I almost don’t want to applaud them so much here on Unilocal!for fear that others will swamp them and make it harder to get in for quick service. But they deserve it.
Gary Summers is the proprietor, by the way, and a wonderful guy. Up front, honest, and friendly. He’s the kind of guy who remembers who you are, and remembers what he was doing to your car.

Traveling though Fort Collins to the west coast and my car started making the worst muffler noise. Picked Summers on a whim and am so glad I did! They knew we needed to be back on the road the next day and got us in right away. Little truck was fixed and running beautifully within the hour. The place was hopping while we were there and the workers treated everyone who came in as well as us. Prices were also very reasonable.

I cannot say enough good things about the staff at Summers. I took my old car here after Houska was incapable (or unwilling) to fix the problems, and instead of capitalizing on the opportunity to make quite a bit of money, the guy here (I’m sorry, I don’t know your name!!) told me to invest in a new car and to get a Honda because both his wife and son drove them and they rarely have problems.
So I did. 8 years later, my pretty Honda Civic is still driving like new thanks to Summers. They’re able to tell me whether a problem needs immediate attention or whether it can wait. Although I haven’t been the one to take care of it for a few years now, my mom loves dealing with Summers too. She’s had them fix multiple problems on her cars, at much lower prices than competitors and dealerships. I can’t even put a price on the knowledge that I’m dealing with honest, hardworking individuals who will do their very best work on my vehicle. Thanks Summers, see you soon (but hopefully not too soon)!!

It was time for a 30,000 mile service on my Toyota, so I called around to gauge what the price would be for tire rottion, brake check, oil change, fluids, belts, hoses etc. I had a list of 25 or so items that needed to be checked/​done. Most auto repair places (including the toyota dealership) charged upwards of $ 140…But not Mr. Summers!
For just under $ 50 bucks, he took care of my list. He also didn’t treat me like a «stupid female» when I asked some basic questions. He didn’t try to upsell me air filters, new brake pads, new belts, etc. He told me that every thing looked great and my car is in perfect health.
In a way it’s kinda sad that we get so excited about when people we trust treat us decently. I’ve been so screwed over by car mechanics it’s like I almost expect them to be demeaning, conniving, shifty a-​holes. Thanks Mr. Summers for breaking that stereotype:)
