We bought my husband’s ’04 GMC Sierra in August and a month later discovered that the 4-​wheel drive was grinding when switched on. They had certified the vehicle and so it came with their 90 day warranty, so we took it in and were told it was the switch, an easy fix. Got it done, no cost, assumed it was fixed. Thing is we didn’t check it cause at the time, because we didn’t really use the 4WD. Now, my husband just started a new job where he will need his 4WD, so he took it out and found that it was still grinding. So when I took it in for an oil change on Thurs, I asked them to check it again. «It turns out, the front differential needs to be rebuilt, $ 4000» Excuse me?! Why wasn’t this mentioned when we got the switch fixed back in Sept? «Well we noted on your paperwork that it was still making noise» Well nobody mentioned that to me at the time. I knew it was making noise, that’s why I brought it in to GET IT FIXED, & was told that the switch was the only problem! «Well we mentioned it on your paperwork» I wanna talk to a manager… Anways, all said and done, I KNOW that they intentionally omitted this little $ 4K problem so that they wouldn’t be liable to fix it within their 90 day warranty. The manager offered to trade for another vehicle of equal value of what we paid when we got it, but of course did not have a 4WD truck of equal value on the lot at the time, then called back & offered to pay for half of the estimate on the repairs, but I had already gotten an estimate at Frieson’s Auto for $ 2400, only $ 400 more than HALF of the estimate from Markley, and they guarantee all parts and labor for 3yrs. Not to mention that while waiting at Friesen’s, looking over the paperwork from Markley, at the very bottom I noticed «Recommendations…trans lines leaking» Another problem, failed to be mentioned to me at the time! Needless to say, after being a loyal customer to Markley since buying my Honda Civic there in 2007, I will NEVER go back to service either of our vehicles there, and we are getting the repairs done at Friesen’s.

First, let me say that I have had great dealings with Markley Motors in the past. However, the Service Department seems to moving in the wrong direction.
I recently went there for an oil change on my GMC Suburban, and no concerns from that perspective. They also performed an inspection of the entire vehicle — which I normally welcome and value — this time it was very different.
Two concerns:
1) Battery test — recommended replacement, due to below spec CCA.
I indicated this battery was purchased at Markley ~2 years prior and still under warranty, and requested replacement. Advisor indicated that they could not replace until it actually failed.
So, I need to have it fail, potentially get stranded, and then it will be replaced. This is completely unacceptable.
2) Fluid leaks (power steering, auto trans lines, oil pan) indicated.
I am not seeing ANY fluid on my garage floor. I visually inspected vehicle at home after the service visit, and was unable to find ANY evidence of ANY leaks.
Although I am not a mechanic, this felt very misleading and potentially dishonest.
