I’ve taken four different cars to FCMA and always get great service. The majority of my visits have involved our Jeep Liberty which initially went to the dealer for repairs. After getting a seriously pricey estimate for an electrical issue from then-​Lithia, we took it FCMA which fixed the problem for about ¹⁄₈^th the cost. The next issue was a nasty rattle which Lithia couldn’t diagnose. The mechanic at FCMA took a stethoscope to the entire drivetrain (I watched) and discovered it was a bad front drive shaft. Since then, the Jeep has been to no other shop. I’ve also taken 3 cars there in the last few months to get the headlights restored. The only issue can occasionally be parking, but it isn’t a huge deal. Highly recommended.

I’ve had them work on one of my cars and they did a good job. I thought they were a little pricey and you can tell they have a «sales process» in place. This means they want to take a comprehensive view of the car and propose more than you may want/​need. However, now that I’ve dealt with two other shops in town, I do feel comfortable bringing my car back here.

I took my car here after receiving some marketing in the mail. Like most, I’m no mechanic fan girl. I’m always afraid I’m getting ripped off. But the belt needed to be changed, and the battery required a check. Turns out I needed rear brakes too. My experience was pleasant enough that I returned the next week to have my timing chain replaced. LSS: I dropped more than $ 2,000 here inside of a week and while I can’t say I’m thrilled I can say I have no reason to be wary or disappointed. The people I worked with at this place were easy, nice and had obviously been trained in customer service. For example, Dave asked how my day was so far upon greeting me. Nice touch. When he was checking me in, he asked if there was anything they needed to know about my car — Windows and locks all operational. I appreciate that attention to detail. In the end I’m pleased with my experience. I’ll go back. I don’t expect honest mechanics but they’re needed and again my experience has been positive. They completed the work on time — which is more than I can say for the dipshits I dealt with at Dellenbach.

These guys rock! Traveling from KC to SLC. Needed a minor but necessary repair to my Prius. Trouble was it was 6:00 pm on a Friday of Memorial Day weekend. Techs had gone home but the head guy kindly put car on lift and fixed a broken shield that had come loose. Didn’t charge me a cent and was genuinely nice. Very unusual and awesome service!

Will not being doing business with them again. They do not take care of customer’s vehicles while in their possession. My car was parked in the street, off their lot and subsequently got hit over night. Fort Collins muffler accepted no responsibility even though it was in their hands when the damage occurred, they offered no compensation after directing me to a body shop to get a quote. After dealing with insurance THEY were fully responsible for the damage, yet did not admit so. They tried to take advantage of a college student and blatantly lied to my face.
Do not support Fort Collins muffler.

I had an extremely negative experience with these people and wrote a bad review but now it’s gone. Anyway they didn’t fix my car and charged me a lot of money and wouldn’t accept any responsibility. I really wouldn’t use them… they are not trustworthy. They are way overcharging on repairs especially parts and use cheap parts my dealer has never seen before. After the fact, I researched what these repairs should cost and some of parts that they were charging over 3x what dealer charges and they weren’t even OEM parts. The worst part was there arrogant attitude and lack of integrity.

I can’t think of anything I hate to do more than having to find someone to fix my car. I always feel like I’m being ripped off, lied to or generally disregarded.
This was not the case at Fort Collins Automotive & Muffler. Every time I’ve sought out their help for some repair they’ve been very helpful, communicative and kind. The last time I brought my car in they provided me with a prioritized list of things to consider replacing/​repairing to head off future breakdowns based on the manufacturer’s guidance. While this wasn’t exceptional, my mechanic took the time to review it with me to point out what would be most cost effective, what I could put off and the order he’d recommend the most crucial repairs.
The shuttle service was also a nice touch. They took me to the office and picked me up at the end of the day to retrieve my repaired car.

I had new exhaust put on my 69 Camaro and they did a fantastic job!!! They did great work and it looks like a million bucks!!! Thanks guys!!!

Oil change took 1 hour. They even replaced a blown bulb free of charge. Free wifi. comfortable waiting room. Very friendly staff.

Brought an average car in for brake check (20 $ fine) estimate for all four brakes and all four rotors 775.00 that’s with a discount. Yikes. Wanted to do business with a small non chain company but when the small company is charging 275.00 + 20 more than the chain gotta go chain. Some percentage more would have been acceptable, not 55%.

We took my son’s car to FCAM in December of ’12 for a check engine light situation. As I live approximately 100 miles away I must often rely on a company’s reputation and reviews as a starting point. Besides this site I checked AAA and found this company was listed so felt reasonably sure we would be treated fair and they would solve the problem. I was told over the phone that they would run several test to determine the cause and this may cost up to $ 120. As this was a 2009 vehicle I know it has the plug system to diagnose problems quickly and reliably so the initial estimate was a bit steep in my estimation. When I asked about the charge I was told it may be up to that amount. I used this encounter as a test in finding a truthful and reliable shop so I told them to proceed. I was told it would be an hour +/​-​and they would call with an estimate. After waiting approximately 1.5 hours I called only to find out they had not started on the test as yet and they would let me know soon. I waited another 30 minutes as we were up against a deadline in needing the vehicle and was finally told they would check while I held. Several minutes later the lady returned to say they found the problem which was the gas cap had not been tightened correctly causing the check engine light. I was told the charge would be $ 95 for this information and after reminding the person we were AAA members she offered the final bill as $ 90.
Not the best start in attracting a new Customer which would likely build a long term relationship with regular service and mainitenance for 2 vehicles. I’m still looking for that trustworthy and reliable automotive shop.

I have been a customer for at least 12 years and I have found that Fort Collins Automotive gives you great service, honest assessments and great prices. They have been so great that for the past ten years I have driven from Longmont to get their service for my cars instead of finding a local mechanic.

I’ve been here twice now. and I am just not feeling the greatness expressed in these reviews.
They fixed my car (correctly) last spring, but there was a series of disappointing oversights in the process, as my mechanic was getting ready to split on vacation with another employee. to make up for it I was given a certificate for a free oil change and full inspection.
When I went to claim the free oil change (the 1^st time) I talked to some dude (wish I got a name) who was all for the oil change until I told him I had a free certificate. and all of a sudden I needed a special appointment… so I waited for another day. when I finally got that oil change, the woman who helped me at the desk was great, but the guy who was handling the paper work on it afterward was a total tool… he knew I was waiting and decided to take his time socializing and doing whatever for an extra 20 minutes before finally getting my keys back. the woman who helped me let him know I was waiting, and the dude couldn’t of cared less… (this was my makeup «we’re sorry» oil change)
I think there are some good people here, and I think there are a couple d-​bags.
Just know its not the complete picture of peaches and crème’ as the other reviews state.

It is rare to find a mechanic that you feel you can trust to be honest with you and not try to overcharge or add services that you don’t need. These folks are that mechanic you can trust. I took my van in thinking I had a brake problem because it was pulling when applying brakes, and it turned out to be an issue with a repair on my front end that they had previously done that was still under warranty. They were up front about the warranty issue and didn’t charge me a dime for the work. The brakes still had about 25% of their life left on them and I’m certain other mechanics would have tried to get me to replace them while it was in their shop, but these guys just said «bring it back in 6 months and have it checked.» In comparison, I’ve had a lot of work done at the big name shop in town (starts with an H…), and I’m so glad not to be paying them to fix their own mistakes anymore, as I’ve had to in the past. That «other shop» once replaced my car’s computer when all I needed was a new battery and the cable terminals cleaned.
I had another great experience with FC Auto and Muffler in the past with an old car where I thought something was going on but turned out to be something else, and I ended up not having the work done, choosing instead to sell it. In other words, they helped me realize it wasn’t worth the money to do the work. They’ve won all of my future automotive work with treatment like this. Don’t let the location or how the shop looks from the outside fool you. These are no-​nonsense, capable, honest mechanics and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

This is a great family-​run auto shop, I would recommend them to anyone. Very honest, they walk you over to your vehicle and show you the exact situation. My wife’s Lexus was making some bad noise, I was a little worried that it could be serious. They diagnosed as just a worn gasket – parts, labor and all was just $ 61. A few other pluses: they will take you back to work or shopping & then pick you up, they also have a very nice waiting area (comfy chairs, big tv, wifi) & an extremely nice clean bathroom.

I feel these guys are honest and have always done a good job for me over the years.

These guys are cool. Twice I have brought my car there and they checked it out and told me it was fine, once for the brakes and once for the clutch. I have been burned in the past by dealers and small shops that are dishonest but I have always been treated fairly by these guys. They do good work for good rates and I would recommend there services anytime.
