History
Established in 1979.
Ricochet Ridge Ranch has offered horse back riding trailrides, riding vacations, and seminars for nearly thirty years. Owner Lari Shea moved to the current location in 1982, has a concession in MacKerricher State Park, and also leads trailrides in Jackson State Forest as well as on privately owned forest and ranch lands. RRR has hosted children though the Make a Wish Foundation, Police Activity League and many other charitable organizations. We have bred and trained most of our horses. We began offering vacations in foreign lands in 1989, and have journeyed with guests to Argentina, Africa, India, Portugal, Italy, France and Australia. Our staff has grown from one woman who has now worked at RRR for 25 years, to include many young people from all over the world who come via various work/study programs, as well as other accomplished local equestrians.

Business Owner
After receiving a degree in Anthropology from UC Berkeley, I moved to Mendocino in 1968. For twelve years, I was the director of the Horsemanship program at the College of the Redwoods, lecturing in equine science, including equine anatomy, physiology and genetics, reproduction and breeding, veterinary diseases and injuries, equine psychology, horse training, and teaching classes in both English and Western riding, from novice through advanced levels. I have competed extensively in both dressage and endurance racing. The year I competed for First Level Horse of the Year in dressage, my horse, Nature’s Tzar and I won 27 classes against international level competition. I have completed 4,800 miles in endurance competitions, and in the last decade, I have placed in the top five over 90 percent of the time, and received many Best Conditioned Horse awards.
