Children’s Dentistry – Jerry E Udelson, DDS

This place is OK, haven’t had a problem with the actual service but I have asked repeatedly to not have them do any work that the insurance won’t cover (and I have great insurance) before talking to me, but they never do and this last time was charged an extra $ 94 for her check up, and it’s not the first time I have been charged for extra’s. The place is convenient and clean and my daughter likes it fine but I wouldn’t go out of my way to recommend. And, in all the times we have been there, I have never seen or spoken to a dentist — that seems odd to me.

I’ve been in the dental field for 10 years and Dr. Cho is great with children. This was my only daughter’s first visit ever (3 years old) and I think I had more anxiety than she did. The staff was very understanding and explained everything down to the dot. My daughter had cavities filled on a second visit and she can’t stop talking about the dentist. She already wants to go back. Thank you Dr. Cho and excellent staff for taking care of my baby. I really appreciate everything you have done! See you in six months.

Best children’s dentist out there! My kids love going there– they have so many fun activities and prizes for the kids that they actually beg to go to the dentist! The dentists and staff are all so great with kids and they give top notch care. So grateful this business exists!

The Browning girls have been patients at this dentists office since it opened. The staff is super friendly and we feel like family when we come for our appointments. Dr. Jerry is AWESOME with kids and I have the utmost confidence in his abilities and practice. Highly recommend this dentist!

This office is fantastic! Their waiting area is huge with plenty of seats for parents to sit while we wait for the kids, video game consoles, tv’s and toys. The staff here is friendly.
During the consultation they go over everything with you in detail. They show you the X-​ray results and talk about the good and the bad. You get to meet the dentist during the consultation as well so this made me more comfortable bringing my son here. At the end, we were sent home with a bag full of goodies! :)

I recently visited this office wow! I’m glad I did! After reading reviews online of many many offices I figured I’d give this one a try since the positive reviews seemed to really be positive! The office is bright and cheerful and CLEAN! I can’t count how many dental offices I’ve been in that have dim lighting and seem to be just-​dirty! But yeah, bright, clean and the staff is soo nice! I have a hard time understanding my insurance benefits sometimes and they took the time to explain what my portion would be after insurance! My child loved her dentist assistant and kept talking about her after we left-​I don’t have much experience e taking my child to the dentist but j sure wasn’t expecting such a great, easy and QUICK experience! I thought my child would be traumatized by not being with me but after the doctor explained everything I thought I’d give it a try – my child came back to me with a bag of goodies, stickers and a HUGE smile AND a «certification of bravery!!»!! I will be referring all my friends and family here in the future!

This center is fantastic! We took our 2-​year-​old in for a cleaning at another dentist and they never even got a peek at his mouth! Not so for Children’s Dentistry!
We arrived really early so I could fill out paperwork and my now 3-​year-​old and 15-​month old played up a storm in the giant and very fun waiting room. I had a pre-​cleaning consultation where they explained how they take the children back alone, clean the children’s teeth, do x-​rays, etc. Once everything was explained and my kids received their gift bag we were sent back the the waiting briefly before the children were called back. The older one went back with no problems, much to my surprise, and the 15-​month-​old went back kicking and screaming. I settled in for a long break from my kids. Surprisingly, in just a few minutes the little one was back — with many tears but clean teeth and even front x-​rays. The older one took more time, but when he came back he was all smiles. The tech took the time to have him brush a dinosaur’s teeth — they even took a picture. And to my surprise, the tech got to know him, realized that he likes to learn and taught him to count to 15! My son hates being outside of our house, but he actually threw a temper tantrum when I told him we had to leave the dentist!
We had a post-​cleaning consultation where Dr. Udelson let me know the older one had 2 cavities and a third forming so we would have to come back for a filling. But he didn’t shame me or make me feel bad which is pretty great considering how bad I felt. He let me know that it happens and just worked with me on brushing. He told me not to explain anything about the filling to my son, that they would do it. So I made the appointment.
When we came back for the filling they brought us back to explain the entire process and took great care of my son. It was over relatively quickly and to my surprise my son still loves the dentist and asks to go back! Even after cavities!
Is this place expensive? Yep. But you get what you pay for. My son loves the dentist and asks to go back.
Do they take your kids back alone? Yep. Thank goodness. Most kids are more accommodating with strangers than their parents and they do great in this scenario.

This place is the best! My daughter who WAS afraid of the dentist is not anymore. After coming here for the past 4 years, my daughter has not put up one fight with me since we changed to Dr. Udelson’s office. Great staff. Very accommodating. You get texts for appointment reminders and the waiting room is decorated for kids to enjoy and not be bored. And my daughter is going through braces next door. How convenient!

I had an issue where I was charged for a service that I denied, but the Office Manager took care of it quickly and explained to me why I was being offered the service.

I really enjoyed my experience here. It was my first time here. My appointment was for 3:30 in the afternoon. I got there about 15 to 20 minutes early. My son was already in the chair at 3:30 PM. Not only did Dr. Jerry come out and speak with me before the process began, they also came out and gave a post visit consultation. They gave my son two gifts (one for the season and one for being a first-​time visitor). They also were able to schedule me for my next appointment that day. I’ve never been the seen early-​let alone on time-​at any medical facility. For that reason, Dr. Jerry gets a five star rating from me. I will definitely be coming back here for years to come.

The staff is very friendly, and the interior is very welcoming for the younger crowd. I will say that it is odd that the dentist never bothers to speak to parents. The child is taken back without a parent. Fine, as this happened when I was a kid. However, it is very odd that a dentist never takes the time to talk to the adults! We met the head dentist the first time, and he was not overly personable. I am a physician, and I do not understand why you would not want to communicate with parents. Maybe for thoroughness? Maybe for the safety of patients? Maybe for the health of the patient? Maybe for marketing? Good customer service??? Anyhow, my daughter likes it here, so I continue to bring her.

After reading some recent reviews, I decided to post why I stopped taking my children to this office. The good: Yes the office staff is very friendly, clean and has a state of the art waiting room with video games/​fish tank geared towards kids. You’ll feel you’ve picked a nice place and generally happy upon checking in.
The Bad: Unless they have recently changed their policy, at no time was I allowed to go back with my children. I approached the desk and asked why I was not allowed to go back with my child and was told that «children do better without their parents present.» I felt terrible sending my young kids back without me and I could sense the same from them. At this point, I did ask if I would be notified if any work was going to be done and staff assured I would be given notice prior. During my wait, I noticed a child come out, crying, with gauze wrapped around his blood soaked gums from an apparent tooth extraction and he was basically upset that his mother had not been present. At this point, I began to pace the office with guilt and finally the door opened and my first child came out. I noticed a back office with three dental chairs in a row. After an inquiry, I learned that children’s teeth are cleaned by «trained personnel,» not a dentist or a dental hygienist but whatever trained personnel falls under (it appeared I was bothering staff by inquiring about their training). After the cleaning, the dentist goes from chair to chair and does a final check over. Afterwords, you get a report card, goodie bag and a chance to meet with the dentist if you want to. Otherwise, the «trained personnel» explains the exam.
Teeth and especially gums are sensitive, and I don’t think anyone but a dentist or hygienist should be cleaning teeth. While the office is appealing to look at, the whole concept seemed to be run like a puppy mill.
When you do call the office to have your records forwarded to a new office, expect one or two letters asking for feedback about why you are leaving. If you are looking for more personal relationship with a dentist office, this is NOT the place for you.

If I could give this place ZERO stars, I would. This place is terrible. They place your children in straight jackets and will not allow you to be back there with them for routine cleanings… or their first visit for that matter. Extremely weird. I walked out with my son. There was no way that at 1.5 years old he was going back there by himself. The reason I am writing this review is because they are sending me valued customer letters in the mail and referral cards to refer family and friends. HAHAHA! Dream on, Dr. Udelson.

to this day — my kids fear going to the dentist b/​c of this practice. If I only would have known that my son didn’t need the procedures they said were necessary… and in living in several different cities and going to several pediatric dental practices — not one — except for Chidlren’s Dentristy — didn’t allow parents to be there for procedures. And when I told the other dentists about this — they just shook their heads and said unbelievable.

MY experience is purely positive. My 11 year old son with autism has been going here for 6 years. They take AMAZING care of us. I have more than enough to worry about and they get it. The office has accommodated emergency visits and helped me over and over when I simply needed my son’s teeth checked because I wasn’t sure if there was an issue. Consequently my son LOVES the dentist and the papoose used to keep him comfortable and still is his favorite. We are now working in conjunction with neighboring orthodontic office. Even kids with autism deserve a good experience at the dentist and they deserve a beautiful smile! If you have a special needs child, try this office.

Terrible. My son was put in full body restraints, despite the fact that he was totally cooperative. After a few minutes in the restraints, he started crying (wouldn’t you?) and the hygienist was neither patient nor reassuring. They were really pushing to separate my son from me, which really raised my suspicions. I didn’t love the dentist, either. He kept referring to the hygienists as «the girls,» which I find condescending and unprofessional. Their whole office is decorated for kids and they give out tons of toys, which may be why they are so popular. The whole thing creeped me out and we will not be back.

The staff here are just wonderful. Very well-​run practice. They do a great job making the children feel comfortable. Our first experience with this practice was an emergency situation. We weren’t even established patients yet and they were very responsive. I’m so thankful for that. We are now established patients and won’t be going anywhere else.

I recently had a visit to this office that left a bad first impression.
I initially called in to set up a free consultation for my child and thought they would just take a look around my child’s teeth and give me some tips for my next appointment, but they actually offered to make an appointment on the spot and I was extremely happy for that since my days off are limited due to a busy season at my job.
I was not told on the phone that I could not join my child in the room and when I found out I was a bit concerned since this was our first time there (or to any dentist, my child is young). The dentist made a fuss about me going back there, saying I had to make an appointment and be there early so no other parents see me going back or else they would want to also (which made no sense because they could have just took us back via the consultation room), He also said about 1 in 500 parents request to go back but seemed really bothered that I was persistent about it.
I felt like he did not really had a good bedside manner for being a dentist for 20+ years and this is a huge disappointment to me because he came as a great referral from my wonderful dentist, whom I really really love and have been with for a while.
Nonetheless, after talking to my child (and he seemed fine about going in alone) I agreed to let him go back. I regret that now. Of course, they doused him in stickers and toys at the end so he was very content, but it still really bothers me that they made a big hassle about me wanting to go back with him. I really don’t have much time off of work and another reason why I agreed was because I, honestly, can’t afford to take another day off work for the visit and really wanted to get it done that day (which I was again, really happy that they offered that initially before I asked). The dentist also rushed through the x-​rays taken and didn’t really give me anymore information than «everything is fine».
The front staff is wonderful, no complaints. The waiting room is also very kid friendly. The only thing that bothered me is that they billed my insurance for a regular cleaning and included the fluoride treatment as an extra charge on my receipt. She said if my insurance will not cover it then they will bill me. This would have been very great to know BEFORE it was done and explained to me. I certainly do not mind paying for a service, but I’d like to be informed if there would be another charge, especially something over $ 25 or so.
Overall, I don’t think I’d recommend this dentist to anyone because of his attitude and disposition. I made a mistake not following my gut instinct and I will not be returning.
FYI — If you do not give 48 hours notice for a cancellation or rescheduling they will charge you $ 53, which seemed way too much! I’m very prompt with my appointments so it wouldn’t have really affected me, but things do come up at the last minute that are out of your control sometimes.

I recently visited Children’s Dentistry and I was very pleased with my experience.
The first thing you notice is their very accommodating waiting room filled with all sorts of things to keep children and adults entertained. There is a giant flat screen tv playing popular kids movies, foam furniture for the little ones to sit/​climb on and 3 video gaming stations that even the youngest child can operate. As an adult I was pleased with the large selection of magazines and utilized their very fast, FREE wifi so be sure to bring your tablet or laptop at your next visit if you are going to be there awhile.
The ladies at the front desk were extremely nice and have always been prompt to return my phone calls. Dr. Jerry was very professional and able to answer all of my questions.
I would absolutely recommend Children’s Dentistry, especially if you are looking for a pediatric dentist. They also have an orthodontist on staff as well so it’s a great one stop shop for all your children’s dentistry needs!

I really had no idea what to expect when I started looking for a dentist for my 2 ½ year old daughter. When I came accross Dr. Udelson’s practice it seemed like a really fun place (and is in network for our insurance), so we gave it a shot!
Can’t think of anything they could have done better. They sent all the paperwork ahead of time, so I had nothing to fill out when I arrived. The waiting room was very clean and kid friendly, with Disney movies playing on a flat screen TV. My daughter had a ball jumping around on the tiny kid chairs in the middle of the rooom as well as looking at the awesome aquarium with many tiny Nemo fish in it.
The staff were courteous and friendly and explained every step of the process. From reading the materials I already knew I wouldn’t be going in the room with her, but it was totally fine. She was in and out in under 15 minutes with a bag full off goodies — a toy, a toothbrush, and two stickers! They even took my digital camera in with her, and took some pictures for me – she was brushing this huge stuffed dinosaur’s teeth!
After she was done we sat down with Dr. U and he explained the x-​rays and how to start flossing. Then we booked our next 6 month appointment and the front desk person showed us exactly what would be billed to the insurance company (very good thing to do, and I appreciated it).
If you are looking for an all around great kids’ dentist, I’d recommend Dr. U’s practice without reservation. Other reviews I saw somewhere mention insurance bill issues, but honestly, I don’t think one issue like that should really sway you from not going here.
